It turns out that the Steve Aoki concert on Twitch was just the beginning of something much, much bigger. The company has announced that more music broadcasts are coming to the streaming service by way of its new "music" category. The new section is in beta, but it'll allow anyone who's creating, performing and presenting original songs to do so live on the internet. What's more, "certain established artists and labels" will have the option to host listening parties and broadcast what Twitch calls large-scale events (think festival performances) if its curators deem them a good fit. The streaming juggernaut is also teaming with BeatPort and SFX Entertainment for festival broadcasts and DJ/producer interviews, as well.

Like a pod-person from Invasion of the Body Snatchers, dubstep artist Skrillex's upcoming album, Recess, is walking among us, hidden in plain sight. Play the shoot-em-up game Alien Ride, now available for free on iOS and Android, and not only will you find asteroids to blow apart, but a preview of Recess as well. Alien Ride is what you might call an advergame. You don't get to choose the track or listen to the whole album, but theoretically it could at least get you excited for the dubstep artist's first full album release on March 18. This isn't the first time Skrillex has snuck his way into video games, mind you. He also created Reptile's theme for the 2011 reboot of Mortal Kombat, as well as the main theme for 2012's reboot of Syndicate. So yeah, Skrillex is somewhat versed in both nice sprites and scary monsters. [Image: Skrillex]

When is a game not really a game? When it's a Trojan horse for new music from Skrillex. Play the seemingly humdrum shooter Alien Ride on Android or iOS and you'll find that it's actually a preview for the dubstep(-ish) artist's first full album, Recess -- you can listen to the whole LP ahead of its March 18th debut. You'll still have to rely on other music services to get your wubwubwubs a more traditional way, but the app easily beats other run-of-the-mill attempts at building up hype. Just be prepared to endure an audio assault alongside the alien kind -- we doubt that the game will sway your opinion of Skrillex if you weren't already a fan.

  • Skrillex Quest mixes Zelda, Sworcery, Isaac in a dubstep world

Skrillex is a tough sell in the Joystiq staff chat room. We have one ardent, passionate fan, and any suggestion from him that contains "Skrillex" in the URL and is introduced with, "OK, this is pretty great," is treated with extreme skepticism. This time, however, he might be on to something.Skrillex Quest is a free, browser-based amalgamation of Zelda, Superbrothers and The Binding of Isaac, set to a strangely not-annoying soundtrack of Skrillex songs. If that doesn't sell you, it's from Jason Oda, the guy who made Nothing's Gonna Stop Me Now, that Perfect Strangers game you loved back in May. Skrillex Quest is just as charming, and even more seizure-inducing (seriously, be careful). The moral of the story: Even people who like Skrillex demonstrate good taste every now and then. [Ed. Note: Still, it's very rare.]

The soundtrack for Namco-Bandai's latest entry in its long-running racing series, Ridge Racer Unbounded, has been revealed. It'll feature electronic music prominently, including some of the more well-known artists out there right now like Skrillex and The Crystal Method. The kids tell us these are "hot acts."Skrillex's "Kill Everybody" and "Scary Monsters And Nice Sprites" will be in the game, joined by other lesser-known contributions from artists Scratch Perverts, Unknown Error, OVERSEER, RuN RiOT, Ever Never and, as stated, The Crystal Method. Also, series fans will be glad to hear that Hiroshi Okubo, who has been rocking the radio dials for the past 18 years, will contribute several new tunes created exclusively for Ridge Racer Unbounded.Namco-Bandai recently pushed back the launch of Ridge Racer Unbounded, which now has a tentative "late 2012" launch window.

  • SSX soundtrack surprisingly doesn't feature The Avalanches

True, SSX's soundtrack may not include any songs by The Avalanches, an appropriately named and incredibly talented Australian breakbeat group, but it does include 36 licensed tracks and 10 original songs produced specifically for the title by Amon Tobin, Camo & Krooked, Raffertie, and The Qemists. There's a complete list of artists featured in the game after the break, but let us save you some time by telling you that yes, it does include Skrillex. Not only is it Skrillex, but it's our favorite song from his first EP: "Scatta," which features sick verses by Foreign Beggars and a drop so heavy that it may cause a few avalanches of its own. A new version of Run-DMC's "It's Tricky" also returns for old time's sake, remixed by soundtrack compatriots Pretty Lights, as well as cuts from DJ Shadow and a Lateef the Truthspeaker joint featuring Hiero-hero Del the Funky Homosapien.

  • Syndicate trailer shows off Starbreeze's vision

Starbreeze's slick, deadly and dour vision of the future is compiled with panache in this first trailer for Syndicate, the FPS reboot of Bullfrog's classic tactical game of the same name. Backed by a Syndicate remix from electro house producer Skrillex (download it here), the visuals cut between flashy combat, aerial takedowns and remote brain-hacking. The trailer concludes with a tease for "The Executive Package" pre-order bonus, likely another one of EA's "limited edition" bundles tied to first-run copies of the game. It's out on February 21, 2012 (or: 0221 2012). %Gallery-135195%
