EA has been letting loose a bit with NHL 20, having recently added the likes of Toronto Raptors' Kyle Lowery, Minnesota Vikings' Adam Thielen and Pittsburgh Steelers' Juju Smith-Schuster -- none of whom are pro hockey players. Another big name you might not immediately associate with the NHL has just joined the ranks: Snoop Dogg.

That's all students, right? Right? While not everyone will be headed to toga parties on frat row (we applaud your decision there), all of you are going to need some gear to keep you amused when class isn't in session. In addition to some of the more predictable stuff, like speakers and a Chromecast, we have some more off-kilter recommendations, including an electronic dartboard, a USB turntable, a "music festival survival kit" and even a vaporizer, if that's your idea of a good time. Check out the gallery below for all our party gear picks, and make sure to peruse our full back-to-school guide right here.

  • WRUP: Fox Van Allen and Michele Morrow return to The Fourth Hour

Every week, just at the start of the weekend, we catch up with the WoW Insider staff and ask them, "What are you playing this week?" -- otherwise known as: WRUP. Join us to see what we're up to in and out of game, and catch us in the comments to let us know what you're playing, too! About a month ago, Michele Morrow and I teased you with the first episode of The Fourth Hour, what we hoped would be a really epic, regular video series on gaming. And indeed, we still have plans for it. It's just that life happened in a very severe and intense way over at the Morrow household, and we had to put off taping for a while. (More about that later.) Thankfully, though, Michele has worked through the personal cataclysm, and we finally got a chance to sit down this week to tape a new episode of The Fourth Hour. It's still in editing, but we didn't want you to go without. That's why we're going to share with you our camera test that we ran as a warm-up. And if last time's outtakes were any indication, it's going to be just as good as the full episode -- if not better. This week's bonus question: Now that the Mists of Pandaria release date has been announced, it's time to decide. Are you buying a physical copy of the game, or are you going to just grab a digital download this year?

  • Tupac hologram performs at Coachella, keeps all eyez on him

Have you been getting a kick out of Coachella's jams and arts in Indio, California? Or, did you decide to peacefully enjoy it from home via YouTube's site? Either way, you may have heard Tupac made an on-stage holographic appearance over the weekend, performing Hail Mary and 2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted alongside Snoop Dogg. Tupac's hologram was made possible by AV Concepts in partnership with Dr. Dre's production company and Digital Domain, after reportedly working on the project for a few months. The outfits used a display technology dubbed "Eyeliner" that, with the help of a custom rig and a mechanical solution, was able to shoot out a life-sized, 3D illusion of Mr. Shakur onto the Coachella platform. Don't believe us? Hit 'em up at the source below, though we feel compelled to tell you language isn't exactly for all ages.

  • Music video created with iPad Brushes app

This video for the song named "Undivided" by the band Blush is intriguing. First of all, because it's a pretty solid pop song (with, as far as I can tell, a rare safe-for-work appearance by Snoop Dogg himself). Second, because the simple but beautiful animation was entirely created by animator Shawn Harris on his iPad using the Brushes app. It's very well done. You can tell that many of the parts are strictly done with finger painting, but he's also got some interesting photo editing effects, too. There's a "making of" video to watch as well that goes through some of the techniques used by Harris. Surprisingly, it was all done in the app -- he simply recorded each brushstroke as a frame of video, and used Brushes' own tools to output the final product. Good stuff! [via Gizmodo]

  • Snoop Dogggg goes 4G to celebrate launch of Samsung Galaxy Indulge, was probably paid more than 4Gs to do it

You laugh, but D-O-Quadruple-G does have a certain ring to it. In fact, it sounds a little like the ringing of Samsung's Galaxy Indulge, which is tucked inside the pocket of MetroPCS' CEO right about now. You see, the aforesaid carrier has presumably paid Snoop Dogg (or Snoop Dogggg, as he'll be known until he scurries outside of a 4G coverage area) to change his name in order to celebrate the commercial launch of the world's first LTE Android smartphone. The Froyo-based phone is just barely beating out LG's Revolution and HTC's Thunderbolt, and you can bet that MetroPCS is doing everything it can to let the world know about it. Taking things one step further too far, Snoop's also appearing in a new series dubbed "The G-Connection," and you can peek the first episode just after the brizzle. For rizzle, homedizzle. %Gallery-117476%

  • Symantec mobilizes Snoop Dogg's cybercrime unit

You know what? Snoop has really done more than any technology company has to bring products to new audiences. Back in fifth grade we had no idea what indo was or why anyone would ever want to combine gin and juice; 3 weeks after "Doggystyle" came out we were hooked on both. At the beginning of last year we couldn't fathom our Grandpas asking Snoop for directions in the Caddy...but it happened. So why not make the leap to, you know, hawking desktop and internet security to urban markets? Symantec's Hack is Wack campaign aims to "bring the attention level up...just try to make people aware that these [cyber] crimes are happening." Snoop invites you to "raise awareness by making a rap song about cyber crimes" and uploading a video for judgment on "originality, creativity and message." The winner gets a pair of tickets to see Snoop, a chance to meet his "mgmt/agent" and a Toshiba laptop. It's been a while since we hit the mic or had any antivirus software installed, but he's got us thinking pretty hard about throwing down some rhymes and our credit cards for a copy of Norton 360 v4.0.

  • Today's hottest vizzle: Snoop Dogg's Dreamland

Ah, the mashup scene of 2004. It was a glorious Summer in which we'd fight through San Francisco traffic every Thursday night on our way to Popscene whilst rocking out to a Sixx Mixx in our too-tight pants. Not to say the mashup scene is dead, it's just that we only ever get excited when it's one, big joke. Sort of like our crotch destroying pants."Snoop Dogg's Dreamland" was originally conceived by YTMND user barf and has since evolved into something much more sinister. As with every great idea their think tank comes up with, it was then lifted and uploaded to YouTube where GameVideos found it and popped it into our RSS feeder. That, dear readers, is how these tubes make communication possible. Please be aware that the video is not safe for work due to language.

  • Snoop Dogg chooses video games over charity event

When west coast rapper Snoop Dogg told us that it ain't no fun if the homies can't have none, we never imagined that he was referring to gaming consoles, but apparently the talented MC and occasional criminal defendent refused to perform at a recent UNICEF charity event if they would not provide his posse and himself an Xbox to play with. According to AHN, someone at the event eventually snatched their kid's Xbox (we assume a 360) to placate Snoop, but the troubles didn't stop there, as he apparantely got so caught up in the game that he was an hour late appearing on stage -- this despite a reported $150,000 paycheck for the appearance. While we can't be certain, we suspect this may all be the result of the charity's refusal to pay Snoop in achievement points.[Via The Raw Feed]

  • Snoop wants his Xbox and he wants it now!

The New York Post is reporting that Snoop Dogg, during a UNICEF benefit concert, almost didn't make it on stage due to an Xbox. As part of Snoop Dogg's long list of demands for his appearance, he required that there be an Xbox in his dressing room. But when no Xbox was to be found, Snoop nearly canceled his concert. That is until a parent lent the rapper their kid's Xbox so he could get his game on with his massive entourage. In the end Snoop was only an hour or so late (gaming way too hard), but did give his performance. Is our pot smoking "friend" Snoop Dogg a diva in disguise or is it perfectly justifiable for a gamer to demand an Xbox? We can definitely understand the necessity of it, but then again we aren't getting paid $150,000 to show up somewhere.

  • DS Lite buyer's guide -- pimp my Lite

With the US release of the DS Lite close enough for us to begin using the word "impending", our favorite quad-colored insurrectionists have posted an excellent buyer's guide to aid you in the inevitable hunt for games and accessories. The guide details the Lite's many improvements over the old model, explains how to transfer your Wi-Fi settings between the two and lists 7 DS games you cannot be without.  We found the section on accessories to be particularly informative, with several popular rappers chiming in on the hottest items you can use to pimp and protect your Lite.Who knew that Snoop Dogg was dependent on a USB charger? "He is a busy man, what with all the pimping his schedule requires and the dropping of items as if they were hot. This is why the Doggfather keeps a USB cable for his DS handy. Using one of these, you can charge your DS Lite anytime and anywhere a USB PC port is available. Though its convenience may sound expensive, the $5 cost ain't nuthin' but a cheap thang." 4 Color Rebellion has the guide in flash, PDF, and shizzle formats. [Thanks, shiftup!]

Snoop Dogg's "Snoop Youth Football League" is not only taking youth football to the streets, it's taking youth sports to HDTV-land. Snoop and the younger crowd are participating in Snooper-Bowl II tomorrow at Detroit's Pontiac Silverdome and is officially sanctioned by the NFL this Super Bowl weekend. Snoop's goal is to raise over a million dollars for youth sports through events like these and he'll be kickin' it off with tomorrow's Snooper Bowl. The youths will take on football players from the Detroit PAL All-Stars; sorry, but Barry Sanders isn't playing (that we know of). With the event taped in high-definition, just think: you can catch every bead of sweat from little Johnny Smith or Susie Jones! Why don't people want to upgrade to HD again? Seriously: best of luck with the event, Snoop and kids. The youths that play sports today often become the sports stars we see in HD later.
