Welcome to Joystiq Weekly, a "too long; didn't read" of each week's biggest stories, reviews and original content. Each category's top story is introduced with a reactionary gif, because moving pictures aren't just for The Daily Prophet. This week's news of a new Tony Hawk game isn't exactly what we were hoping for, but it can't stop us from digging out our old cartridges and discs to revisit the series that made us mount real-life skateboards for the first time. Without the killer soundtracks and a focus on pulling off special moves that progressively got more insane with each entry, we might never have spent hours trying to learn how to ollie. Or earning fresh headaches from trying to drop into half pipes. Or building ramps out of scraps from the garage so we could grind our faces off on the pavement. Thankfully, a revitalization of childhood injury memories isn't the only thing the Joystiq Weekly has in store - news of a Titanfall bundle, reviews of Thief and Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare and a sociological exploration of Twitch Plays Pokemon are also available for your immediate consumption! Dive into this week's biggest moments in gaming right after the break. [Image: Robomodo]

  • Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD 'Airport' and 'Los Angeles' DLC footage leaks

The Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 DLC for Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD still doesn't have an official release date, but at least we can take a gander at what two of its three levels look like in action. The videos, both above and after the break, show off the $5 DLC pack's Airport and Los Angeles levels (respectively), as well as its exclusive revert move. The third level's location remains a mystery at the moment, as do the identities of the pro skaters that will also be included in the DLC, but what we do know is that riding a skateboard like that in an airport would get you thrown in prison, or jail, or both.In related news, THPSHD launches on PSN today, nearly six weeks after its original release as an Xbox Live Summer of Arcade jam back in July. When asked if he was excited about the PSN version, a random skateboard person in front of our bank did a kickflip and called us a "suit," which we think is street lingo for "You bet!"

  • Former Neversoft and Tony Hawk developers trying to Kickstart 'Epic Skater' for iOS/Android

Kurt Gutierrez started out working at Activision on QA for Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2. He was later promoted up the chain, and ended up working on Tony Hawk games as a level designer all the way up to Project 8 and even THPS: Ride. His friend Andy Gentile was also hired young as a player and fan of the series, and eventually worked on the games as a designer. After building hundreds of Tony Hawk versions together over the years across various platforms, Gutierrez and Gentile decided at one point to try and flip your normal behind-the-back 3D camera around to the side, effectively making the game into a 2.5D skating game. The two considered what the game would be like with the camera in that position, "restricted to just X/Y movement," says Gutierrez. "And we thought it was awesome. We always wanted to make a 2D slash 3D level after that."Neversoft eventually moved on to other games, but Gutierrez and Gentile have always been fans of skating games, and they've now decided (along with a few other artists and developers) to try to bring a 2.5D skating game to life as Epic Skater, courtesy of a $50,000 Kickstarter pitch.

  • Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD gets THPS 3 content as DLC for $5

On July 18, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD kicks off the Summer of Arcade on Xbox Live. Around 30-45 days after launch, a $5 DLC pack will be added, full of select content from Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3.Activision reps couldn't get into specifics on exactly what would be added, but we at least know Airport is one of the levels that made the cut, and that more pros will be included. If this all sounds familiar, it's because the Hawk himself pegged other games in the series as potential sources of DLC for Pro Skater HD.
