Ah, there's nothing better than a good, old fashioned unboxing, right? Thanks to our favorite parcel carrier, we're able to get our grubby paws on Samsung's latest stab at the music player / cellphone combo -- the Juke -- for Verizon Wireless. It's a compact flip that's a throwback to Motorola's V70 and Kyocera's Koi that features a CDMA 800 / 1900 MHz radio (sorry, EV-DO and OTA music downloads aren't supported), Bluetooth with A2DP, a VGA camera, and 2GB of memory dedicated just to music. It doesn't sound too shabby for a penny under $100 after contracts, now does it? Anyone willing to stop by their local retail store, sound-off in comments about your experience. %Gallery-8822%

Leave it to LG to come up with an idea to reinvent the same hot, trendy QWERTY phone for The Network and release it in a different color. Enter Verizon's enV (aka VX9900) in a new color scheme that closely resembles a color normally reserved for Crayola's Crayons (think burnt sienna). With no "official" word on pricing or a release date from Verizon, we doubt this will stay under wraps for much longer. Stay tuned for more info![Thanks, Roc A Fella]

Even though it just became available for consumers, Verizon has had its latest 'Berry available to business customers for some time now. Thanks to our favorite parcel carrier, we're able to bring to you The Network's latest pony into the BlackBerry stable, the 8830. Now even though this is a dual band 800 / 1900 CDMA device with a splash of 900 / 1800 GSM designed for international roaming, we think this device could be a big hit for most BlackBerry customers of Verizon even if they aren't travelers -- read on to find out why.

  • Verizon prepping iPhone killers from Motorola and LG?

When Verizon passed on the iPhone, was it a bad business decision or was it a part of a much larger idea for The Network to bring a next-generation music device to market? Enter Motorola and what is being described as an "iPhone Killer" by employees of both companies. Code named the "M" and designed for the mediacentric user, it's likely to impress (if they really want to kill the iPhone, anyway). Details are on the slim side, but reports suggest a 3 megapixel shooter with a large QVGA display and lots of internal storage. In addition to the M, word is that LG is preparing a CDMA version of the popular -- but -- expensive KE850 (aka Prada) for release sometime in the 3rd quarter (this one's also a potential iPhone nemesis, if you ask us). Make sure you keep a lookout for more deets![Thanks, Roc a fella]

There appears to be light at the end of the proverbial dark tunnel for customers of Verizon Wireless -- non-business channel ones, anyway -- who attempt to satisfy their "Crackberry" addiction. Sources suggest that The Network should be ramping up for consumer launch of the globe trottin' BlackBerry 8830 for Monday May 28. Yep, that's only a few short days from now. Better start saving those pennies now, especially at the $400.00 price with a two year contract..[Thanks, HTC Kid]

Well, look what we have here -- It's the Motorola maxx Ve for Verizon Wireless. It's been along time since we seen the first maxx, though the first sighting was for GSM. Just dropped off today, we snapped a few pics of the unboxing ceremony for your viewing pleasure. As a refresher point on the feature set, here ya go: dual band 1X / EVDO (sorry no Rev. A here), microSD expandable memory, a vivid 2.2 inch display, stereo Bluetooth for the music junkies, and a respectable 2 megapixel shooter with autofocus. Keep a look out for the Ve review! Just when we're down in the dumps about our 'Berry, here's some good news that should brighten up the day. New intel suggests that Verizon is planning to release the BlackBerry 8830 (aka Cyclone) on May 14 for the business channel and May 29 for consumers. A couple other bits of information as well: there's support for microSD cards up to the standard 2GB, and the media player supposedly supports -- get this -- iTunes music. Check out an additional pic (fuzzy, but helpful, we promise) after the break.[Thanks, HTC Kid]

We didn't think Sprint would have the spotlight with the latest CDMA Treo for long, and it turns out we were right. Our pal HTC Kid over at Verizon tells us that the new #1 is planning to release its own Treo 755p variant shortly. Feature lineup appears to be similar (except possibly some LBS), but for the forgetful among us, we'll give them to you again -- dual-band CDMA with EV-DO Rev. A, a 1.3 megapixel shooter, and what appears to be a sleeker, refined look a la Treo 680. Make sure you stay tuned for more details.[Thanks, HTC Kid]

There's no doubt that The Network gives its customers plenty of options, especially when it comes to traveling across the pond -- and the latest addition to its ExpressCard lineup is no exception. Enter the Merlin XU870, which rocks triband 850 / 1900 / 2100MHz HSDPA and quadband EDGE and GPRS support. Yes, that's right, this is a GSM piece meant exclusively for Verizon's global roamers. The XU870 is expected to support Windows, Apple, and Linux operating systems and is expected to cost $370 with no contract, $299 with a one year contract and $249 on a two year indentured service contract on Verizon's GlobalAccess plans. You should be able to buy this around April 12.[Thanks, HTC Kid]

Being with the nation's largest CDMA carrier certainly has its advantages -- especially when it includes one of the country's largest mobile to mobile communites, VCAST TV, and unlimited text, pix, and flix. Yep, that's right: unlimited. Initial reports are stating that on April 15th, Verizon will come out with new plans that include unlimited messaging. It appears that the single line plans cost about $20 more and family share plans start at $99.99 for 700 minutes. Be on the lookout for more details!

Are you tired of seeking out third-party nav applications for your Palm 700wx or Motorola Q? We hear you on that -- and it turns out Verizon does, too. Word has it that The Network is testing navigation service for PDA devices (a la VZW Navigator for dumbphones) and it should be available some time in the third quarter of this year. For everyone's sake, let's just hope it's made to support new and old devices alike.[Thanks, HTC Kid]

Looks like The Network has finally been piecing together the puzzle for the globetrotters who need a fresh BlackBerry. The latest word on the street has the device possibly getting launched some time in the next 30 to 60 days. In case you don't remember, we'll jog your memory and run down some of the features: a dual band 800 / 1900 MHz CDMA radio for the States, GSM / GPRS support for international roaming, trackball navigation, OS 4.2, media player, and removable memory. Don't start bookin' those flights just yet, but things are definitely looking up, eh?[Thanks, HTC Kid]

Please take this information with a grain of salt -- It it looks like our pals over at Samsung are getting ready to launch a new PTT (Push to Talk) phone with The Network sometime soon. We thought Big Red had given up on walkie-talkie style communication until we heard that a relaunch was forth-coming with the introduction of Rev. A networks. Other than the picture here, it's pretty much WYSIWYG, so if anyone would like to share the details, please drop us a line. [Thanks, anonymous tipster]

It looks like Sprint customers wont' be the only ones in the spotlight this spring as Verizon Wireless will also get their hands on the global BlackBerry codenamed "Cyclone." The details are pretty slim at this point other than it's going to be built on the 8800 series, runs OS 4.2, has a hybrid CDMA / GSM radio for talking on the other side of the pond, and a media player with expandable memory. RIM was even so kind to through in a some AGPS and Bluetooth 2.0. All we have to say is WOW![Thanks, HTC Kid]

It looks like The Network has more tricks up their sleeves; too bad one of those wouldn't be launching their hi-speed data network, however beggars can't be choosers. Enter in the latest addition to Verizon's expanding lineup of Rev. A Aircards, the Novatel MCD3000. It supports speeds up to 3.1 mbps through its small flip up antenna, USB 2.0, and is backwards compatible with Rev. 0. The manufacture states that it supports Vista, XP, 2000 and Mac OS X, so the bases are covered from the operating system standpoint. One of our favorite tipsters, HTC Kid, says it's going to be available in the very near future -- so stay tuned for pricing details and launch date!
