We very briefly thought Namco was making a One Piece/Thundercats crossover game, only to realize that the company just announced release dates for two separate games in the same press release for some reason. One Piece: Pirate Warriors, the downloadable PS3 game (which is already an unlikely crossover of sorts, being a One Piece-themed action game in the style of Dynasty Warriors) will be released in North America on September 25.Also coming September 25: the side-scrolling DS Thundercats game based on the new cartoon, which casts the player as Lion-O. So that's One Piece: Pirate Warriors and Thundercats – but not One Piece: Pirate Warriors and Thundercats.%Gallery-160670%

  • Augmented reality makes Thundercats packaging way cooler than the toys themselves

What happens when the toy packaging becomes more exciting than the toy itself? It's an interesting experiment that's now seeing the light of day courtesy of Bandai's new Thundercats and Ben 10 toys, which come to life through a smartphone screen via Aurasma's augmented reality. The company promises that the packages help kids "examine every part of the toy before purchase." That's important. And hey, so's setting them up for a lifetime of disappointment. Video after the break.

The Re-Enlisters are on the loose, so prepare to feel the magic and hear their roar! Hm... that might be Thundercats. In any event, the we-so-crazy folks at Mythic have put together a smashing campaign across all three of their titles -- Ultima Online, Dark Age of Camelot and Warhammer Online -- to attract new players and pull back in those missing in action: Ultima Online: We've already heard about the upcoming High Seas mini-expansion that's currently cutting its way through beta, but Mythic is also tempting buccaneers with a bevy of swag if they sign back up before October 11th. Dark Age of Camelot: For the next two weeks, returning players will be treated to 14 days of free game time, special bonuses, and a "Heroes of the Realm" live event. Warhammer Online: WAR is offering a similar deal of two weeks' worth of free game time for re-enlisters, and is throwing in three fun in-game items such as the skeletonizing Signet of the Cursed Company to sweeten the deal. The three MMO teams also put together a pretty funny retro-style video to promote the campaign, which you can view after the jump.

Even as a kid (or perhaps especially as a kid), artist David Gibbons had a fascination for all things glow-in-the-dark. Really, though, what's there to not like about glow-in-the-dark junk? David covered his bedroom walls with every glow-in-the-dark decoration he could find -- posters, stickers, and stars. He even wore glow-in-the-dark pajamas and braces! While we never went that far, we happen to have a glow-in-the-dark rosary hanging off our car's rearview mirror (It's a Filipino thing! Also, it makes it easier for us to pick out our car in the mall parking lot at night.).Anyway, David used his childhood glow-in-the-dark obsession as inspiration to create the art piece we've featured a today, an illustration depicting all of the Christmas toys he wished for as a kid while laying awake at night, gazing at all their glow-in-the-dark incarnations blue-tacked to his walls and ceiling.

Once you reach a certain age, it's time for Hollywood to start dredging up your childhood memories in hopes that you'll pay to regain two hours of your lost innocence. The latest franchise to be placed atop this dreadful altar is Thundercats. Cynicism aside, we should probably note that Warner Brothers has chosen Jerry O'Flaherty, art director for Gears of War and the upcoming Unreal Tournament III, to direct the upcoming film adaptation of Thundercats. O'Flaherty promises to stay true to the series, though the limited experience of screenwriter Paul Sopocy has us a bit worried. Thankfully, the movie will be done in CG, something O'Flaherty has significant experience with. And, as an added bonus, it saves us from the prospect of live action Thundercats. We're keeping our fingers crossed. At the very least, this brings our dreams of owning a replica Sword of Omens a little closer to reality.

This just in from our "URGENT BREAKING VIDEO GAME NEWS" department: Warner Bros. has tapped Jerry O'Flaherty – art director on Epic's Gears of War and finalist in the North American name rhyming championships – to direct their upcoming Thundercats feature film. ... Hey, where are you going? Don't worry, it's going to be all CG, no Hollywood actors parading about in furry costumes. Of course, CG is an arena O'Flaherty has a fair bit of experience in, having worked on Gears as well as Unreal Tournament 3 and the Command and Conquer series. Worried this video game vet won't do the Thundercats tale (nyuk) justice? Fret not! O'Flaherty plans to remain faithful to the franchise, which Variety describes as "a group of humanoid cats who must flee the planet of Thundera, which is destroyed. Once crash-landing on another planet, Third Earth, they must thwart Mumm-Ra, an evil sorcerer bent on killing them off." As long as they work in Mumm-Mutt, you won't hear any complaints from us.
