Toys inside a game. Just how good can things get? I'm a huge fan of toys, you see, so when there's an opportunity to exercise this little obsession, I indulge in it. So when I heard about the toy shop in Dalaran, I was absolutely thrilled. I got myself the Train Set (well, actually, my wife gave me the money to buy it), and proceeded to disrupt every raid I could. Of course, when the train destroyer comes to town, I'm picking one up, too, just to be able to make my own train wreck. What other toys would you like to see in-game? I mean, Upper Deck's next expansion, the Blood of Gladiators, has a bunch of new stuff for us to play with. Foam swords and a sandbox spectral tiger (just in case you never lucked out or could afford the real one). I particularly like the ball I use to play fetch with my pets. There's just a lot of room to be silly and playful, I can't imagine Blizzard or the clever guys at Upper Deck running out of ideas. What do you think should be next? Gnome boxing balloons? Throwing pies? I dunno. You guys can probably get more creative.

Our natural inclination is to be disappointed in weeks like this, when there's really nothing coming out, but we're going to try to stay positive about it. Nintendo fans have a lot to look forward to in the coming months; there are some big releases for Wii owners, and there are always more DS games than we can afford. So take a breather, catch up on games you haven't finished, and enjoy the week -- unless you're picking up Toy Shop. Toy Shop

This small preview of the gameplay in Majesco's Toy Shop makes the game sound ... well, oddly compelling. 1UP's Emily Balistrieri sums it up as a "Harvest Moon for those more interested in dolls and train sets than cows and corn."In the game, two siblings are given three years to restore an inherited toy shop to a profitable state. Each day (five to ten minutes), you talk to the customers, meet the townspeople, fix up your store (including appropriate seasonal decorations) and -- most importantly -- make toys. The appropriate stock of toys will make customers happy, and they'll come back and spend more money. The Harvest Moon comparison makes the game sound especially interesting. Why don't more companies make that kind of game? And why not move it off the farm? We like toys, much more than we like farming.%Gallery-14107%

The artificially-generated virtual Toy Shop, that is, not one of the thousands of toy shops around the world that already carry the DS. Uh, in a game. In other, clearer words, Majesco has announced a new DS game called Toy Shop for an April release, developed by Gameinvest. The game is a business simulation in which players, as Mel and Mark, inheritors of their grandfather's toy shop, do their best to make sure they don't ruin the family business. The player is in charge of making toys (via minigames), setting prices, monitoring customer satisfaction, and maintaining the appearance and layout of the store. The game will allow the player to choose the level of interaction, from simply making toys all the way up to micromanagement of the store. We're all about making toys on the DS, but we aren't sure about the whole dealing-with-people aspect. Luckily it sounds like we'll be able to enjoy the toymaking part and ignore the human interactions, just like in real life. We have the first screens of Toy Shop available in our gallery.%Gallery-14107%[Via GamesPress]
