We now have seven PlayStation 3 titles that will miss their original European release date alongside the console's launch. The dubious septuplet and their new release dates: Splinter Cell: Double Agent -- March 30 NBA 2k7 -- April 6 F.E.A.R. -- April 20 Oblivion -- April 27 Untold Legends -- April 27 GRAW 2 -- June 2007 Rainbow Six: Vegas -- Spring 2007 While more than a few of those are top-notch titles, Sony still has 27 launch titles -- 23 disc-based and four downloadable -- and at their disposal, including Virtua Fighter 5. Will the absence of these seven games affect the launch? No more than the price, and the delays aren't very far behind the March 23 launch. In three months, no one is going to care about the delays. The initial momentum lost, however, is debatable. [Via PS3 Fanboy]

We've heard a lot about Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom, as it's the franchise's chance to move away from the PSP and onto something far greater -- the Playstation 3. Similarly, as to online functionality, a lot of people have been lobbing balls of flame at the whole Xfire dealie. IGN has some updated news about Dark Kingdom and its plans for online -- namely, the PS Network. Let's take a closer look. No longer is it in question: Dark Kingdom will use the PS Network as its primary source of online co-op madness. Xfire is a supplementary program that makes a buddy list independant of the one provided by Sony. As IGN put it, it's "AIM for Mages". Well, there you go. Sony isn't counting on Xfire to be its base of operations, rather a supplement to what is shaping up to be a strong online service. Strong, but not ultimate. Well... we haven't played it yet, so we don't really know. Isn't wild speculation and arbitrary assumption fun?

This one's for the Action-RPG fan in all of us. Over at Firing Squad, an interview was held with senior producer Kevin O'Hara where some questions about the new Sony Online Entertainment game, Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom, were answered. This is SOE's first PS3 exclusive title and it follows the previous two titles, released on the PSP.How's the storyline? Basic MMO fare (although this isn't an MMO, just an A-RPG) about kingdoms waging war, but the twist is the game begins when the war ends. The king of your kingdom discovers a new source of power, thanks to tampering with the darker side of the arts. His secret? The suffering of his citizens. Depending on who you play as, your objective is different. Seize the throne? Kill the king and leave the kingdom? Find a way to bring salvation to the people? Take your pick, role-players.Fast and tactical gameplay (although it sounds very much like the Dynasty Warriors system), pick up n' play action, advanced physics and particle effects, cooperative mode (online and off), and future downloadable content/extras make this worth a glance, even if the concept of HP and free-roaming aren't your cup of tea. Or coffee. Water? Check out the other screenshots at Firing Squad and see if any tickle your fancy. Granted, the graphics aren't superb, but this is still fairly early in development. Backgrounds look pretty good, though.

Sony poked its head out from behind the curtain long enough to confirm rumors that new PlayStation 3 details will be announced tomorrow at a conference in Tokyo. Ken Kutaragi will address the media, analysts, and publishing partners, in what looks to be Sony's last opportunity to discuss the PS3 before Phil Harrison's GDC keynote. GameIndustry.biz speculates that the event will include information about the pricing, launch date and initial software line-up. Plans to officially unveil screenshots for a PS3 version of Untold Legends have already been revealed (note: the images were leaked last week).[Thanks, Lesley]
