The daily fantasy sports industry has a new problem, and The New York Times believes it's "the biggest blow yet" despite all its other legal challenges. One of its main payment processors, Vantiv Entertainment Solutions, has notified its clients that it'll stop processing all daily fantasy sports transactions in the US on February 29th. Payment processors handle all the players' deposits and withdrawals, and Vantiv, in particular, plays a major part in that for FanDuel and DraftKings. The company's services are a crucial part of those websites' operation -- they will not be able to continue running unless they find a replacement.

Just in case your business hasn't adopted one of the multiple tablet-based payment systems that are out there already, Sprint and Vantiv, a merchant acquirer that offers payment processing services for retail, have come together for yet another option. Simply called Vantiv Mobile Checkout, the package includes an iPad, wireless connectivity thanks to Sprint, an encrypted credit card reader, a tablet stand, a cash drawer plus a receipt printer. As for the software, that's powered by NCR Silver, a company known for its iPad point-of-sale systems. The all-in-one deal is available through Sprint business channels at a reportedly "affordable startup cost," though we're not sure how much that is. Of course, scanners, Bluetooth printers and other accessories will cost extra. If your business could use a mobile option like this, head on over to the link to find out more.

When PayPal saw Square for the first time, we're fairly sure its CEO glumly stared out of the window, said "we're going to the mattresses" and promptly called the CEO of Discover to talk about an alliance. That unholy union has now brought PayPal into 250,000 retail outlets in the US, and the pair is now promising that the figure will be closer to two million by the end of 2013. Merchant acquirers such as Vantiv, WorldPay and TSYS have also signed up, presumably begging the pair not to let Jack Dorsey take the shirt from their backs.
