A veritable pile of games were released on Xbox Live Arcade this week. You've already read our thoughts on Rock of Ages and The Baconing (haven't you?), which leaves us with Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection and Ugly Americans: Apocalypsegeddon. Arcade Kollection is essentially a known quantity, while Apocalypsegeddon is ... well, maybe it's a quantity that shouldn't be known. [iTunes] Subscribe to XBLA in Brief directly in iTunes. Deadliest Warrior: Legends isn't the only game launching on Xbox Live Arcade this week. Also up for grabs: MLB Bobblehead Pros and Dead Block. The former is an arcade baseball game with wobbly-necked players, while the latter is a rockabilly zombie defense game. See them both in the latest episode of XBLA in Brief. Half-Minute Hero wasn't the only game to hit Xbox Live Arcade this week. Joining its high-speed hijinks are the bone-crushing antics of BackBreaker Vengeance, and the bug-blasting battles of Galaga Legions DX. We've already posted our (favorable) review of Duels of the Planeswalkers 2012, which leaves only one other Xbox Live Arcade release this week: The Adventures of Shuggy. Sega Rally Online Arcade marks the sole release on Xbox Live Arcade this week. Based on the "DNA" of Sega Rally Revo and Sega Rally 3, it should be comfortably familiar to fans of the series. For the uninitiated: It's essentially power sliding and lots of mud. Watch the latest XBLA in Brief and see if it revs your engine. [iTunes] Subscribe to XBLA in Brief directly in iTunes. There are two very different games on XBLA this week. On the one hand we have Star Raiders, a space combat sim and, on the other, we have Gatling Gears, a twin-stick shooter. It's worth noting that while multiplayer modes were mentioned when Star Raiders was first announced last year, it appears they didn't make it into the final product. This week on XBLA in Brief, we take a look at the reboot of the Atari 2600 title, Yar's Revenge. Suffice it to say that Yar's Revenge has less to do with the original and much more to do with games like Panzer Dragoon and Sin & Punishment. In other words, it's a brightly colored, anime-inspired, on-rails shooter. Lock your cursor on the "continued" button and guide yourself past the break to watch the latest episode and see if Yar's Revenge is for you. Also, for those of you looking for Clash of Heroes HD, rest easy. We'll have a full review soon. [iTunes] Subscribe to XBLA in Brief directly in iTunes. The XBLA House Party continues this week with Bejeweled Blitz Live. It seems silly to explain it, considering you're probably playing Blitz on Facebook at this very moment, but the Live take is PopCap's classic gem swapper with a simple twist: You only get one minute to play. 01.12.2011

There is but one game on Xbox Live Arcade this week. That game is Zeit2, a shooter from Ubisoft with an interesting time control mechanic. Before you dive in though, know this: The controls are inverted and, as far as we could tell, they can't be un-inverted. Beyond this potential issue, the game's pretty nifty. Check out this latest XBLA in Brief to see if Zeit2 might tickle your fancy. Update: It seems that Zeit2 bases flight controls on your default Xbox profile preferences. If your profile default is set to inverted, the controls will be inverted. To change it, you'll have to open the guide and change your default preferences. Weird. Players get their pick of three wildly different games on Xbox Live Arcade this week. On the one strategic hand, there's The Path of Go ("Go" as in the ancient board game); on the other twitchy, trigger-happy hand, there's Quake Arena Arcade; and on the third, freaky mutant hand, there's the classic X-Men arcade game. It's another threefer on XBLA this week, but you won't have to worry about it putting too much stress on your wallet. You see, only one game, Bomberman Live Battlefest, actually costs money this week. The other two, Harms Way and Crash Course, are completely free. These two are the finalists in this year's Doritos sponsored Unlock Xbox contest, and it's up to you to decide which one is the winner. Check out the latest XBLA in Brief, download each game and don't forget to cast your vote on the Xbox Live dashboard. Oh and as for Bomberman Live Battlefest, well, it's Bomberman.
