LG's offering a new series of 12.1-inch Core 2 Duo laptops in their hometown Korean market with this, their Z1 XNOTE. The Z1-P2007 is touted as the flagship model and ships with a WXGA LCD, 1.83GHz Core 2 Duo processor, 256MB of ATI Mobility Radeon X1350 graphics, and 1GB DDR2 memory and 100GB SATA disk. They also pack in an optical disc drive supporting unspecified formats, a 5-in-1 memory card reader, a couple of 1.5W speakers, and support for SRS WOW, and SRS TruSurround. However, unlike LG's ultra-portable 12.1-inch TX, the Z1 brings some relative chunk tipping the scales at 1.89-kg or 4.2-pounds. Still, not a bad all purpose machine for toting around campus on a daily basis. But with a price tag of 1,840,000KRW or about $2,000, you're going to need some help from mom and dad to bring this pup home.[Via MobileWhack]

If we recall correctly, the last time we attempted a romantic romp with our laptop in a picturesque field of flowers and greenery, we got some killer allergies and ended up tripping over some hidden crap in the grass and busting up our computer -- but we're willing to give it all another go for a chance to hang out with these sexy new A1 and C1 XNote ultraportables from LG. We're unfortunately short on details, but both laptops sport 1.2GHz Core Duo processors, 64MB GeForce 7300 Go graphics, 10.6-inch 1,366 x 768 displays (with some swivel action on the C1), along with WiBro, HSDPA and DMB. The C1 version on the left weighs a mere 2.8 pounds, and does the Tablet PC, swivel screen thing, while the A1 goes for uber-svelte at 2.2 pounds. There's no info on anything crazy like price or availability, but now that these are out in the open, LG better not be keeping their ultralight goodness -- with a yummy, WWAN/DTV center -- away from us for long.

LG's kicking around a new Core Duo lineup this morning with their XNOTE V1-WCUP4 laptop. Besides sportin' Intel's Core Duo procs, these 15-inchers bring ATI Radeon Xpress 200M graphics, DDR2 667MHz memory, SATA disks, a 5-in-1 memory card reader, and, well that's about all we know. Besides echoing a peculiarly apropos name given world events, it's just a decent, middle-of-the road Core Duo lappie that shouldn't blow the budget.

Somewhere in the world LG is showing off their new XNote S1-P555K laptop sporting one of them newfangled HD DVD players. No surprise to see non-Blu-ray product rolling out of LG after inking that HD-DVD patent sharing deal with Toshiba. She's said to tote a 1680 x 1050 pixel resolution, Core Duo processor, ATI X1600 graphics with 256MB dedicate VRAM, Component video, and of course, that sweet, sweet HD DVD love. And with a "15.1-inch" screen, this lappie can almost be classed as ultra-portable when compared to the 17 and 20 plus-inch HD DVD beasts rolled out thus far. However, judging by that picture, Akihabara News either made a typo or that model is crazy small. Taking linear perspective into account, we're leaning towards the former dontchathink? Be your own judge and check the snaps after the break.Update: We tracked down the (unlinkable) press release and yeah, she's damn small. That's a 15.4-inch HD DVD laptop with numeric keypad, aight.

  • LG's dual-core, super-slim 14-inch XNOTE T1 laptop

Here's another dual-core ultraportable to add to your drool-list (probably just due to its looks): LG's latest superslim XNOTE laptop, the 14.1-inch T1. Unfortunately you'll probably never see this piano black, 21.5-millimeter thick notebook over here in the States, which is a shame considering how many features they managed to cram into just a 4.2-pound package, most notably a dual-layer DVD burner, 5-in-1 media card reader, plus Bluetooth and 802.11a/b/g. Performance, though, is nothing to write home about, with the low end L2300 1.5GHz Centrino Duo processor, integrated graphics, and pokey 4200RPM 60GB or 80GB PATA drives probably making this model a non-starter for gamers or serious multitaskers. For simple web browsing, emailing, or DVD watching on-the-go, however, the 512MB to 2GB of RAM and optional 1,440 x 900 WXGA+ screen should prove more than adequate.[Via Core Duo News]
