A whole slew of apps are going on sale this weekend, including Firemint's Real Racing 2 (which has dropped down to half price at US$4.99) and Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars (also $4.99, down by the same discount). Adult Swim's hilarious little Robot Unicorn Attack running game is only 99 cents, on sale for both iPad and iPhone. In fact, all of the Adult Swim titles are on sale for just 99 cents, so you can look through those to see what you like. I'm not sure what the impetus is behind this sale, but it's best not to ask questions. If you need a few new games to play this weekend (and honestly, I'm not sure you do, given all of the great titles on the App Store lately -- I'm still loving Battleheart), there you go.

Take the beloved Canabalt-style Robot Unicorn Attack game, remix it with some heavy music and aesthetic, and you've got the new iOS-exclusive version, which is available now on the App Store. That's really all you need to know -- give the online version a play if you haven't yet, and you'll see how much fun dashing and jumping with a robot unicorn can be. Sure, it's simple, but it's fun, and with the heavy metal tune playing in the background, it's even more awesome. And it's only US 99 cents; that's two bucks cheaper than the classic Erasure version. Great game, great price, and a great exclusive iPhone experience to boot.

After picking up content from TNT and TBS back in March, Verizon has reached additional agreements with Time Warner Inc. to bring Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, and TruTV on-demand channels to its FiOS TV Online service lineup. As per usual, each will offer a free selection of programming from their respective channel as soon as 24 hours after it has aired live, which in the case of Adult Swim shows like The Boondocks, The Venture Bros., Delocated, Childrens Hospital, and Metalocalypse should have already started to happen. Content from the Cartoon Network and TruTV however is currently slated to appear within the next month thanks to the deal. So for now waiting a few weeks to get your Hardcore Pawn fix on FiOS TV Online is both the reality and actuality of the situation folks. Can't stand it? Then bide your time by reading the PR below.

  • LED pranksters remember the Aqua Teen Hunger Force "bomb" scare

In an expression of remembrance for a historical moment in hair-trigger overreactions, artists all over the Boston area have taken to the streets armed with provocative LED signage. Paying homage to the "bomb" scare of January 31st, 2007 (which was actually just viral promotion for the Aqua Teen Hunger Force movie using LED art), creative pranksters have descended upon the city with electronic recreations of President Bush, Osama Bin Laden, and a number of other inflammatory images sure to rile the local authorities but-good. Truck on over to MAKE to see a collection of images, and if you happen to be in the Boston area, don't miss a chance to snap some photos of your own!

The half-baked, non sequitur style of Adult Swim prevails in this trailer for Aqua Teen Hunger Force Zombie Ninja Pro-Am. They couldn't even resize footage from different sources to be the same resolution. That's the Adult Swim seal of approval.Strangely -- like some of those cartoon shows the kids are into -- the trailer comes off as engaging and funny. There's golf cart racing, a helpless Carl taking the detectives' abuse, Mooninites, and very little actual golf. Hopefully the actual game will strike a similar balance.See the trailer after the break.

  • Cartoon Network targets consoles via the internet

Why make retail games for consoles when you can make Flash games that also happen to work with consoles? That's the attitude Cartoon Network seems to be taking with their recently-announced MEGA series game service developed by AFI's Digital Content Lab. The MEGA series will feature games based on as-yet unannounced Cartoon Network and Adult Swim shows, and it's going to be fully compatible with the Wii browser (oh, and the PS3 also).

Sony has unveiled more details on its ambitious "Dude, Get Your Own" advertising campaign for PSP. The promotion will focus on PSP's ability to play games and multimedia and should proudly showcase PSP's new, lower price. According to Sony, a television commercial will be airing now through the end of May on a variety of shows targeted specifically to teens. PSP fans will want to tune in to shows such as King of the Hill (FOX), South Park (Comedy Central), Adult Swim (Cartoon Network), the NBA Playoffs (TNT), Saturday Night Live (NBC), and WWE Smackdown (CW) to catch the new ads.Online ads can also be found on IGN.com, Gamespot.com, ESPN.com and Maxim.com. Additionally, Sony plans to send promotional materials through direct mail. Later this week, Sony will be launching a new "Dude, Get Your Own" website, which will go into further detail about PSP's capabilities. (Hopefully, they'll create a new educational video, unlike the one featured here.)This aggressive stance from Sony is certainly appreciated. There are too many myths about our handheld that must be dispelled: hopefully, this advertising campaign will make others experience the system and join the PSP Fanboy ranks.

  • Zune gets limited edition Adult Swim version

For all those Venture Brothers, Aqua Teen, Sea Lab, Harvey Birdman, and Robot Chicken nerds whose hearts just skipped a beat, steel yourself. While Microsoft is indeed producing a limited edition Adult Swim version of the Zune, when we say it's limited edition, we mean it: only 500 are being made, and will be given away at a Turner promotional event tonight. Obviously these units will have pre-loaded content, including photos, music, and, naturally, such classic shows as Assy McGee, Metalocalypse (rawk), and even a new program titled Lucy, Daughter of the Devil (on screen). Now if only we could get Microsoft to continue making Zunes with new colors and etchings, surely that will distract us all from the fact that they haven't actually done anything to improve the platform since launch (or launched any new devices, for that matter).

  • Midway to develop Aqua Teen Hunger Force combat golf game

What has already been hinted at has finally been confirmed: Aqua Teen Hunger Force is getting a console game. This fall, the mooninites will be invading retail outlets with Aqua Teen Hunger Force Zombie Ninja Pro-Am. Billed as an "epic, action-adventure combat golf, cart racing game," ATHFZNP-A will pit players as the dynamic fast food trio, complete with weapons and golfing equipment, to face bad guys derived from the show.Licensed games, with some exceptions, generally fare badly in terms of quality. There is a glimmer of hope in that ATHF creators Matt Maiellaro and Dave Willis will be "working closely" with Midway, but we're not getting our hopes up.The game is due out this fall on PlayStation 2. If there is any parallel to be drawn between the game and the movie, Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theatres, however, some sensationalist event might cause the game to expand its horizons to newer generation consoles.

  • Aqua Teen Hunger Force, golfing (?) soon on a PS2 near you

Sure, it's a sad snafu that cost a few million dollars and some mass hysteria, but the Boston Mooninites bomb scare has done wonders for the Aqua Teen Hunger Franchise. The movie, Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theatres has been pushed back to allow for a much wider release and now an upcoming PlayStation 2 game will surely sell a few extra copies because of the fiasco. In an interview with G4, Aqua Teen co-creator Dave Willis has described the title as "extreme combat golf," with Frylock being accepted at New Jersey course and Master Shake looking to destroy it. Also promised were violence, villains, and sawed-off shotguns. "Carl's gigantic crabs are lurking in the sandtraps," he said, "and the Brownie monsters, and obviously the Mooninites. It's sort of a racing, violent golf game."Though Willis and co-creator Matt Maiellaro tend to be coy and dishonest in interviews, it's all we have at this point. Truth be told, the extreme golf sounds fun. Whatever it may be, the Aqua Teen Hunger Force game is slated for release later this year, either in the summer or 3rd quarter, on the PlayStation 2.[Thanks, Tom Fronczak]

  • Culture of terror seeps into WoW

I believe it was George Jellinek who said, "The history of a people is found in its videogames." Err, wait, maybe that was something else. At any rate, it's true that the entertainment of a people reflects its culture, and so it might come as no surprise that twice in the past few days a couple of real-life mashups have appeared around the WoW community.First, MBAzeroth continues it's Daily Blink series with a story that the Alliance has actually invaded Canada. Apparently, the Horde insurgents found there pushed them over the line, and despite the protests of gamers, Katrina Prestor and her armies are taking over the Great White North. With good reason, maybe, because this forum post tells a mashup story of an Orc arrested on suspicion of creating a nuclear bomb. Talho reports that a 70 Orc was caught mining Uranium Ore (at a skill much higher than 375), and using tradeskill alts and Goblin Engineers to assemble a bomb outside Ironforge. The Chinese are even involved-- apparently they were assisting with farming materials for the weapon. President Bush, says Talho, has dispatched two 25-man PvP raids in retaliation. At a time when advertisements for a cartoon are causing bomb scares in Boston, it's interesting that the mood of our time is even seeping into this game we play.

  • Aqua Teen Hunger Force viral ads cause Boston bomb scare

Oh, you viral marketers and tricksy Adult Swim promo squads, what've you done now? No longer content with offending parents and making the male aged 18-30 demo chortle with glee at their New Jersey debauchery, it would appear Aqua Teen crossed over into real life to wreak havoc promoting the upcoming ATHF movie. Geeky Lite-Brite-like visages of the Mooninites caused shut downs in several transit arteries in Boston, including Interstate 93, the Longfellow Bridge, and Storrow Drive, leaving thousands asking WHAT HAPPENED TO THEIR FRICKIN' CAR?! Strangely, Turner stated that these viral ads have been in place in 10 major cities for between two and three weeks, which leaves one to wonder why no one noticed the strange, pixelated cartoon characters flipping the bird until just this afternoon, and just in Boston.[Thanks, Dan]Update: One's for sale on eBay! Thanks, everybody.

  • Adult Swim Fix finally works with Macintosh

TV Squad, our sister site, reports that Adult Swim Fix has finally achieved Mac friendliness. Adult Swim Fix, for those of you unfamiliar with the site, is a Cartoon Network broadband video site offering clips and full episodes of Adult Swim series. Not having a Mac, the poster Adam Finley couldn't test out the site. Poor man, he's stuck with a PC. So I headed on over to see what the site had to offer. It loaded without any trouble, and within a few seconds I was watching some obscure (at least I think it is obscure) Manga-style show named Trinity Blood. Just a click later, I loaded Tom Goes to the Mayor. Worked great. If you're an Adult Swim fan, pop on over and enjoy the new Macfriendlinessitude.

Metal fans rejoice, Dethklok, stars of [adult swim]'s Metalocalypse, will be featured in Guitar Hero II -- bringing them one step closer to world domination. Let us be the first to say, that's effing metal. The song to be featured in the game is called "Thunderhorse," and will be an unlockable bonus track. In other news, Guitar Hero II will also feature the Trogdor theme from Homestar Runner as a bonus track. If you're unfamiliar with Homestar Runner, you can check out the cartoon that inspired the song here. We've embedded videos of "Thunderhorse" and the Trogdor theme after the break. DethKlok, the fictional band in Adult Swim's Metalocalypse, have a song in the upcoming Guitar Hero II. The song, "Thunderhorse," will be an unlockable track "along with some other secret music from other bands," according to the official DethKlok MySpace page. That's right, the heaviest band in the world, with the fastest and second fastest guitarists to ever live, have allowed their rock to bleed into gaming consoles. What could the other hidden tracks be: Minus the Bear? (Doubtful.) Tenacious D? (If there's a Dio destined for Rock Heaven.) What do you want to see?Guitar Hero II will rock your socks off starting November 7.[Thanks, Brian]

Adult Swim, home to humorously absurd cartoons such as Aqua Teen Hunger Force, is the insomniacs haven. We happen to be huge fans of this part of Cartoon Network and ends up they are loving us right back. Adult Swim put out a commercial containing a list of things they are hyped and de-hyped about. Tenth on the list -- the Wii! As for not liking the Internet -- we shake our fist at you. The Internet is how we breathe so to not like it is about the same as kicking a kitten. Alright, perhaps I was too hasty in judging the Marvel Ultimate Alliance screenshots the other day. I know, I know, gameplay over graphics. Judging from the trailer, Marvel looks to be a pretty good time. It's also a lot prettier in motion, and it doesn't hurt that Activision seems to be cramming in every Marvel character except The Kitchen Sink (who's totally underrated). Seriously, playing as Doctor Strange? That's Cool with a capital C. Now if they could just squeeze Doctor Orpheus in there...
