PSN Tuesday: NFL Blitz, TNT Racers and Darksiders
As we inch closer to the biggest commercial showcase NFL game of the year, fans of pigskin ovals can whet their appetites for the big day with NFL Blitz, which brings nostalgic arcade goodness to PSN. Last year's cartoonish, over-the-top XBLA racer TNT Racers also makes its PlayStation debut today, just 11 months after the port was originally announced for the first quarter of 2011. Speaking of games from a long time ago, Darksiders is now available as well, as are DLC packs for Resistance 3 and Apples to Apples. If you're a PlayStation Plus subscriber, this month's free swag includes the complete Back to the Future series as well as the first three Syphon Filter games. You're no longer at the mercy of random party hosts -- you'll be able to play Apples to Apples whenever you damn well please, after it launches on PSN and XBLA in December for $10 (with more "social and mobile applications" including Facebook to follow). THQ is adapting Mattel's card game, in which players match noun cards with appropriate adjective cards, to consoles, with online and offline play for up to six players. "But what kind of avatar will I see handling the virtual cards," you may ask. THQ names "Pirate Apple, Cowboy Apple, and Ballerina Apple" among the 16 animated avatars. How about those apples? We're sorry.
