Aquaman has only appeared briefly in Batman v. Superman and as a member of the Justice League, and was one of the few good things in two pretty awful movies. As such, the character's first solo movie has more promise than other DC Extended Universe films. Amazon has announced that Prime members will get to see the movie on December 15th, nearly a full week ahead of the movie's December 21st public debut.

More than 30 years after the original series debuted on television, the classic Mecha anime Robotech will once again grace the silver screen. Sony announced on Monday that it had tapped Andy Muschietti, who just finished directing the reboot of Stephen King's It, to direct the upcoming live-action reboot.

  • Future 'Lego Dimensions' packs will work with the originals

Lego has something up its sleeve to lure you away from Skylanders and Disney Infinity: future-proofing its toys-to-life-game, Lego Dimensions. Along with the announcement that a handful of new figures will be sold in "Team" and "Fun" packs, the press release wasn't afraid to get passive aggressive about what separates it from the competition: "Future expansion pack purchases will continue to work with the LEGO Dimensions Starter Pack, even in the fall of next year. No compatibility chart necessary." That last portion refers to the aforementioned games' need to point out what does and doesn't work between different expansions and figurines in each game. Cheeky, yeah? That means the Joker and Harley Quinn minifig/vehicle Team Pack, and Superman and Bane minifig/vehicle Fun Packs won't have any trouble getting along with anything released in the future, it sounds like. Nor will a certain Timelord when he meets the likes of Doc Brown of Back to the Future fame and some more Ninjago characters.

  • Injustice season pass includes 4 characters, bonus costumes [Update: Now with more Harley Quinn]

Just as Mortal Kombat did before it, Injustice: Gods Among Us will employ the increasingly popular Season Pass monetization model convenience option for the game's inevitable character DLC. Who those characters actually are, of course, remains a mystery, though we do know that there will be four of them. The pass costs $14.99/1200 MS Points and includes four characters for "the price of three," according to the press release, which means we can safely infer that Injustice's character DLC will cost $4.99/400 MS Points a pop when purchased individually. You may begin theorizing over the identities of the above silhouettes at the sound of the beep.Three bonus costumes are also included, based on Wonder Woman, Aquaman and Deathstroke's alternate timeline personas from the plot arch that lead to the New 52 relaunch in 2011, "Flashpoint." For the uninitiated, Flashpoint is known as being the small splinter of the DC universe where Wonder Woman actually wore some damn clothes that made sense for a conquering warrior princess.Update: As a small aside, Harley Quinn's story trailer has been tucked away after the break. We'll keep this description brief in case anyone is avoiding such things because spoilers, but let's just say that the Joker is involved. Right? We couldn't believe it either.

NetherRealm's barrage of Injustice: Gods Among Us footage continues unabated, with these newest clips showcasing a few of the characters' alternate costumes. We're quite fond of Pseudo-Military Superman and Realistic Armor Batman, but we're starting to lose hope for a Clean Shavin' Green Arrow.

The latest round of Injustice: Gods Among Us fight tapes have been released following the results of NetherRealm Studios' ongoing popularity contest between the game's sizable stable of heroes and villains. This time, Atlantean king Aquaman is pitted against fellow Justice League of America member Cyborg (above), while interstellar cop Green Lantern dukes it out with the also green (albeit for a different reason) Solomon Grundy, after the break. While these videos still mysteriously lack any indication of how meter management is working during these fights, we are learning more about each character's abilities with each new bout. Aquaman, for instance, can cancel incoming projectile attacks by creating a whirlpool around himself, and Cyborg appears to be one of the most mobile characters in the game, thanks to his zip-line/grappling hook thingy. Meanwhile, Green Lantern's ability to create complex, working machines and weapons has been put to full use, as has Solomon Grundy's, uh, deadness.

The Justice League of America's most under-appreciated superhero, Aquaman, has been confirmed as the latest addition to the cast of playable fighters for Injustice: Gods Among Us. Slightly reminiscent of Mortal Kombat's Rain, Aquaman's abilities appear to walk a fine line between trident strikes and water/lighting-based elemental attacks, as shown in the character's debut trailer at IGN.Injustice's version of Aquaman appears to be closer to the New 52 version of the character, rather than any of his legacy incarnations, due to the fact that he fights with a trident and still has both hands. This is unlike the longest running version of Aquaman from the 1990s, who lost his left hand in 1994 and subsequently battled with a hooked prosthetic harpoon spearhead attached to a mystical, retracting rope.Actually, now that we think about it, maybe that would have hit a little close to home.%Gallery-178886%

Sony Online Entertainment is kicking off its DC Universe Online summer event today. We told you about Tides a War a couple of week ago, but now you can log in and see it for yourself. SOE says that Tides of War is available "for a limited time," but the firm isn't being specific on just how limited. Long story short, check it out while you can! [Source: SOE press release]

When you think of the most awesome superheroes from DC's lineup, obviously Aquaman comes to mind. King of Atlantis, Duke of Hudson Bay, Comptroller of the Nile -- the guy's got more credentials than you have expired Subway coupons. So of course Aquaman's smack dab in the middle of DC Universe Online's new summer event, Tides of War. Tides of War is set against the backdrop of Aquaman fighting Ocean Master for the crown of the seas. Their respective followers have amassed fleets around DCUO's cities, and players can assist the side of their choice via with new missions, feats, collections, and a four-person alert. There are plenty of rewards to entice super-loyalty during this event, including pets and costumes. The event will go live with Game Update 16.

There is plenty of WoW machinima out there, and there's plenty on my favorites list. Up there on the list is Aquaman's Lament, put together by Spiff and based on a song by Mark Aaron James. It wasn't just the catchy song that caught my eye; it was the WoW twist on several different superheroes. This was, of course, before the days of transmogrification, and several of the sets shown used mismatched armor types for a surprisingly effective look. Now that we've got transmogrification, we can take these looks and use them for our own, with a few tweaks here and there to make sure each set fits under one armor type. I love comics, I love superheroes, and I love World of Warcraft, so Aquaman's Lament hit a home run for me. And figuring out how to make the sets featured actually work with transmogrification is about as much fun as wearing the sets themselves!

  • Ask Cryptic: Lemuria includes sharks, laser beams and water powers

In what we expect is a final bout of news on the Champions Online zone Lemuria, a new Ask Cryptic has appeared on the official website and its focus is firmly centered on the underwater zone. We now know that Lemuria will be a high-end zone focused on players experiencing the civil war between good Lemurians and those looking to once again worship the Bleak Ones for power to overthrow the surface world. In less story-driven answers, it appears as though those looking for water-themed costumes will have plenty to choose from. However, water-based powers aren't going to be happening due to the graphical requirements. Maybe Aquaman wannabes will get their watery comeuppance sometime in a future post-launch update, although it may be a long wait.

  • DCUO interview alludes to Aquaman issues

In a recent interview with MTV Multiplayer, DC Universe Online's creative director, Jens Andersen, defends the seemingly "simple" powers of Aquaman, while stating that there are no water-based powers in the game at the moment. "Aquaman is a badass," Anderson made clear. "And he's really, really powerful. People don't give him credit because they think he just talks to fish but he's more than that." This sentiment is taken as far as having "Aquaman Wednesdays" at the SOE Austin studios where DCUO is being developed. If Aquaman can't swim and speak with the fishies, then what good will he be in the game? "Well, Aquaman is a founding member of the [Justice League of America] and the JLA are a huge factor in our game," Anderson explained. "And so the JLA will be a broader roster than it was in its initial launch way back in the day, but it will also have the core members; so Aquaman will be included in that, for sure. And it will be the Aquaman, not the new Aquaman."

  • An inside look at the DC Universe Online studio

The latest bit of info about the upcoming game DC Universe Online comes to us through a video walk-through of the developers' own Hall of Justice. Michael Daubert, Studio Art Director for DC Universe Online, blogs on Myspace about what it's like to work on the game in the setting they've created. It's a place where every Friday is "Green Lantern Friday" when studio employees either wear GL's requisite green or Sinestro yellow. Monday is "Batman Monday"-- we think you get the picture. But having Wednesdays devoted to Aquaman... dubious. One pictures employees bringing their goldfish to work and willing them to perform office tasks. One tradeoff for having to dress in orange and green is that employees at the Austin studio are surrounded by artwork for DC Universe Online from Jim Lee and the Wildstorm Productions studio. The video gives us a glimpse at the roughly 1200 pieces of concept art Lee and his team have produced that literally wallpaper the studio. Plus you get to meet some of the dev team as Daubert alternately attempts to stay awake through Scrum explanations or avoid tirades from his colleagues. Unfortunately we can't embed the video for you right here, but if you head over to the DC Universe Online site, you can't miss it.

Who's yer buddy? Murloc's your buddy! At least now he can be since he has his very own MySpace page. Did you know that a murloc's heroes are Jay & Silent Bob? Of course you didn't but now you can learn even more fun facts about murlockind by following his blog. Although his posts are written in Nerglish (e.g., "glmrmrgrbaba! mrllgrmrmrgr grmrmrblmrllrlmrgrmlbllb" is one of his most recent comments), he's provided handy translations for us via an unnamed enslaved Troll. His writings offer insights into his budding filmmaking career and his ongoing feud with his nemesis, Aquaman. Now I'm not much into MySpace, but this profile had me cracking up. Whoever is writing it has the Murloc mindset down cold and provides some funny roleplaying fodder. I don't think I'm alone in wishing Murlocs were a playable WoW class -- even though I know my wish is in vain. I haven't yet gone so far as to play the Murloc RPG, but it does pique my interest. Oh, and ladies, he's single! Catch him while his current mood is "rockin" and before it changes back to "angry."

Greatest news ever or merely a ploy to get all you in-the-closet Aquaman fans to buy the upcoming Justice League Heroes game? Hmm, we'll have to see about that. Nevertheless, we just got word that everyone's favorite fish man in green tights will be making a fabulous appearance in Heroes, which is slated to hit the PS2, Xbox, PSP, GBA and DS sometime this fall.Included as an unlockable character, Aquaman joins Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter, Zatanna and the previously announced unlockable Green Arrow in the fight against baddies. For those quick to dismiss Aquaman's worth on dry land, his character in Heroes will have the ability to create a whirlpool (temporary water whirlwind that traps enemies), use the sword of Atlantis and protect himself using a water shield. In honor of such a delightful announcement, check out these timely Aquaman classics:The Aquaman danceDave Chappelle on AquamanAquaman: The Music VideoAquaman: The Movie (from Entourage)The TV pilot trailerAn Aquaman tributeAquaman on Family Guy

  • Back compat update: finally, Aquaman!

Thank God. See, I gave my old Xbox to my brother and I was just about to fall into a deep, deep depression because I couldn't play Aquaman on my 360. Lucky for me, the fine folks in Redmond decided it was about time for a new backwards compatibility update. I thought to myself, "could it be?" My eyes furiously scanned the page and my heart leapt at the sight: Aquaman: Battle for Atlantis is finally BC.But seriously, folks, the update adds quite a few titles to the 360 roster, including one of my favorites, Fatal Frame II (still no Psychonauts, though). See the full list of new or updated games after the break. And a special thanks to Scott, the tipster who made the first of many Aquaman jokes.

That's right, folks (I'm channeling Porky Pig) Warner Brothers has added some of their shows to the iTunes Music Store. The six shows include: Friends Aquaman (he's the shirtless dude in the picture) Babylon 5 (millions of geeks just passed out in excitement) The Flintstones The Jetsons The Best of MADtv It looks like only the first seasons have been added at this point though I would imagine more and more seasons (of those shows that have seaons) will be added. Thanks, Adam.
