Topps, known for Bazooka bubblegum and its wildly popular baseball trading cards, entered the iOS app marketplace last year with its stats-tracking Topps Pennant app and BUNT, a baseball card-trading app. Today, Topps released the 2013 version of BUNT, offering baseball fans a chance to start collecting and trading cards a few days before the 2013 baseball season kicks off this weekend. The 2013 version of BUNT offers card collectors a few new features including multi-card trades, which allows you to sweeten the pot by including several cards in a trade. Fans will also appreciated a new private chat feature for trade negotiations as well as the ability to store an unlimited number of player cards in their collection. Similar to previous versions of the app, each card in the 2013 version of BUNT will gain or lose points depending on the performance of the player throughout the season. A baseball news feature will help you keep track of players and make the best choices when trading cards. You can check out BUNT 2013 in the video below and download it for free from the iOS App Store.

One of the staples of American childhood and a focus of sports memorabilia collectors is the baseball card. Topps has always been a powerhouse in the baseball card market, and the company announced a few days ago that they're launching a pair of iOS apps to bring the fun of baseball cards into the digital age. Topps Pennant (US$3.99) is a universal app that brings over 115,000 baseball games from today back to 1952 to life. Through "elegant, interactive infographics," Topps Pennant allows baseball fans to relive every play of every game since 1952. Topps Bunt (Free) is a fun iPad game that combines baseball card collecting with fantasy baseball. Sign in with a Facebook or Twitter account, pick a nickname and avatar, and then collect 9 players. As the season progresses, your point total increases as your players score in real games. If one or more of your players are being worthless slugs, you can trade them. You're competing against other real people, including those in your region or who are fans of your team. It's still early in the 2012 MLB season and a great time to start having fun with baseball with these two new Topps products.

Put aside those Pokeman or Bakugan cards kids, Topps is back with a vengeance in an attempt to woo Internet bred sophisti-tots back into collecting baseball cards. Right, Topps, the company that pre-dates Human Growth Hormone abuse and packs a nostalgic smack of dusty pink sticks of chewing gum is back in the game, this time with some help from former Disney exec Michael Eisner. Just hold the special 3D Live card in front of a webcam and watch a three-dimensional avatar spring to life -- rotate the card and the figure rotates in full perspective. The technology provided by Total Immersion also allows collectors to drop the player into simple pitching, batting and catching games using the computer keyboard. Series 1 cards will cost $2 for a 12-pack while a buck snags a fistful of five. The 3D Live series will eventually feature video. Click through for a video demonstration -- trust us, you'll be amazed at what they've done.
