Yesterday, Apple released watchOS 4.1, allowing Apple Watch Series 3 users to stream music from their entire iCloud Music Library or through Apple Music rather than limiting them to tunes from playlists synced from their iPhones. And for Watch owners opting into the models with built-in LTE connectivity, the update now allows them to take advantage of these capabilities without having to tote around their iPhones. Now, as MacRumors reports, Apple has released a breakdown of how the Watch Series 3 battery fares during music streaming.

Lady Gaga's struggles come to light in Netflix documentary trailer

"Paranoia, fear, body pain, anxiety." Lady Gaga's voice is trembling as she describes what she's been dealing with in an interview with Beats 1's Zane Lowe, unintentionally setting the stage for what Netflix subscribers will see when watching the streaming service's latest documentary, Gaga: Five Foot Two. Her halftime show from the Super Bowl this year was pure spectacle, with a fleet of Intel-powered drones doing double duty as stage sky lights. But, the demons Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta battled in secret before (and after) taking to the sky this February might be more impressive than a raft of synchronized drones. For an intimate peek inside Gaga's life ahead of the movie's September 22nd debut, check out the two-minute trailer below.

Beats 1's radio broadcasts were a key selling point when Apple Music was first announced. Now, it appears Apple is expanding with new radio options. In a series of filings, the company applied for trademarks covering both the names and logos of Beats 2, Beats 3, Beats 4 and Beats 5, which means we could be seeing up to four new stations in the near future. The applications, which were filed last month, follow reports that Apple's agreements with record labels allow it to add five new radio stations without having to negotiate new contracts.

  • Ebro Darden: the DJ who curates the sound of New York on Beats 1

"Beats 1 worldwide. Always on," Ebro Darden's voice booms on the radio. A little over three months ago, Darden became the voice of New York on Apple Music. When the service was announced, Apple was already late to the music-streaming battle. But it hoped to gain some ground, and listeners, with a human edge. In addition to streaming music on demand and personalized playlists, Apple threw Beats 1 into the mix. The radio station would offer "human curation" in the form of three distinctly different DJs in music capitals of the world. But it also promised a star-studded lineup of hosts who would share their own playlists. Ever since, Drake's OVO Sound Radio has dropped exclusives; St. Vincent's quirky mixtapes have struck a note with fans sending in personal snippets; and Elton John's Rocket Hour has often taken listeners back to a pre-streaming era.

Apple's iTunes Festival is coming back to London with a new name and a slightly different format. For starters, it's now called Apple Music Festival -- an obvious move to promote the recently launched music streaming service. It's still being held at the city's Roundhouse venue, but this year the company is opting for a 10 night run (September 19-28) rather than its usual month-long affair. That could put extra pressure on its free and seemingly randomised ticket allocations, so Apple will also be streaming the festival through Apple Music. Everyone will be able to watch the performances both live and on-demand, with coverage on Beats 1 and social media snippets on Apple Music Connect.

This morning isn't turning out to be a great one if you lean heavily on Apple's media ecosystem. According to the company's status page, a whole of host of Apple services have been plagued by issues since a little before 10AM Eastern time today, to the point where some users just can't access them. The full list of impacted features is a pretty hefty one at this point — it includes both the iOS and Mac App Stores, Apple Music, Apple TV, the iBooks Store, iTunes in the Cloud, the iTunes Store, iTunes U, iTunes Match, Radio, OS X Software Updates and the Volume Purchase Program. Basically, good luck trying to buy anything that isn't an attractive hunk of aluminum or plastic from Apple right now.

Like Beats Music, the app will serve up suggestions based on your preferences alongside curated playlists from the likes of Rolling Stone, Pitchfork and more.

Determined to try Apple Music and its accompanying Beats 1 radio the very moment they're available on June 30th? The streaming service's senior director, Ian Rogers, is happy to help those early adopter impulses. He says that iOS 8.4 (and thus Apple Music) will be available at 11AM Eastern on that day, and Beats 1 will go on the air one hour later. It's not clear what you'll hear if you tune in to the station right away, but the first slate of programming will include an interview with Eminem as well as appearances from everyone from Cara Delevigne to (unsurprisingly) Beats brand co-founder Dr. Dre.
