Ever since BIA went MIA last fall, we've been waiting for an update on the construction of Hell's Highway. Turns out the interstate paved with the hardened souls of the damned will open this summer, as a new trailer (embedded after the break!) announces Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway is "Coming August 2008." And yes, Nazi neck-stabbin' confirmed, finally. In addition to today's video announcement, Gearbox has apparently been working on a "totally redesigned online component" for the game, reports Eurogamer. Hell's Highway will supposedly feature "dozens" of players on each team and somehow incorporate the squad-based gameplay that defines the single-player campaign (that is, if you're willing to take orders from foulmouthed tweens).

  • DS Daily: Let's talk FPS

When we saw the Call of Duty 4 video, we immediately thought about the possibilities for FPS titles on the DS. Sure, we've received a Quake-style title in Metroid Prime Hunters, but the controls cause our hand to cramp up pretty quickly. We never got a chance to check out Brothers in Arms, but other than that, what is there?Do you think the system can't possibly expect to see a quality FPS title in its future? Do you think Call of Duty 4 could pave the way for future entries in the genre on the handheld?

Some fresh screens for Brothers in Arms have emerged from the trenches, dirty and tired from battling evil dictators abroad, but now they may finally rest. They're home in the loving eyes of fanboys alike. And, these screens offer some more variety than the previous ones on offer, allowing us to get a peek at different aspects of play, which makes us more excited for the title than when it was first announced.Head on past the post break for the other screens.

If you've been keeping up with the march of news about a certain squad-based FPS franchise hitting the DS, then you might know that the game was recently confirmed to have vehicles for player use. Old news, right? Well, it still is, but at least we have more screens from Ubisoft to look at. Never hurts, right? Kiffnews dishes up 4 fresh screens, with a pair each presenting foot-based and vehicle-based action for the upcoming title, which we've gone ahead and embedded past the post break.

var digg_url = 'http://www.digg.com/gaming_news/Latest_Nintendo_Power_confirms_Brothers_in_Arms_coming_to_DS'; Jeux-France got ahold of the latest issue of Nintendo Power, which confirms that Brothers in Arms is headed to the DS. We couldn't be happier, as the Brothers in Arms franchise is one of the very few WWII-based series of games left that are worth playing. The images of the game (which have been embedded past the post break) are of very low quality, so we cannot discern whether the graphics are something to be excited about or not.We can confirm, however, that the game is to feature 3 different campaigns, spanning 16 missions and several of the countries involved in the war. The touch-screen will be used for switching weapons, tossing grenades (player must draw a line for trajectory) and aiming at enemies. The top screen is obviously going to be used to present the action. No word on whether this title is to be Wi-Fi Connect compatible or not.[Thanks, Ken!]

  • Assassin's Creed, BIA pushed back, GRAW2 coming

Dutch gaming site, Xboxworld, is reporting that Ubisoft has delayed the launches of both Assassin's Creed and Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway, pushing them into late 2007, possibly next Christmas. This information was contained in Ubisoft's quarterly earnings report, along with the announcement of a sequel to the massively popular Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter. There is some more good news here, too. GRAW 2 is apparently set to release in the first half of 2007. The delay of Assassin's Creed is upsetting to be sure, but GRAW 2 makes a damned fine replacement. Still, we're very excited to see Assassin's Creed and we hope that it comes out sooner rather than later.[Via Xboxic]

  • Hell's Highway demo available in UK?

Reader Ciaran reports that the demo for Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway is available in the UK. Can anyone else confirm? And if so, how is it? By the way, UK gamers can also download something called the "The Cuban Brothers Game With Fame Trailer." That's cool, but I'm not sure about the "fame" part. The only Cuban brothers I know are Fidel and Raul.
