When I started freelancing last November, I knew I needed to get my act together about billing. I have a love/hate relationship with billing: I love getting paid, but I hate doing billing. Thankfully, there are many, many apps that help you do this. If you're just starting out, you might be a little overwhelmed at just how many ways there are to track your time. This little post here isn't meant to be a comprehensive list, but instead a place for freelancers to start looking for a small-scale billing solution that works best for them. Follow me for a look at a handful of apps and services that will help you keep your time tracking and invoicing in line: Billable Fanurio On The Job WorkTimer Tempo LiveTimer Freshbooks

Click To Play Mike Zornek, owner of Clickable Bliss shows us Billable, a handy app for tracking freelance gigs or other hourly projects. Billable will do more than tracking though, so watch the video to see a really neat app from another indie Mac developer.

Clickable Bliss recently took the wraps off of Billable 1.1, a nice update to their billable hours tracking app. New in this update: Tax support (both US and International) Custom Invoice numbering New footer area for customizable notes Many bugs smashed There is even a nice screencast that walks you through all the new features (something I wish more developers would do). All in all, not a bad update at all. Billable costs $24.95, and there is a 30 day full feature demo available.

If you need to track billable hours and you want to do it using a client with clear UI, then Billable is for you. It can also create PDF invoices with your information already filled in.Until October 31st you can get Billable for $19.95 (after that it goes up to $24.95), and there is a 30 demo available.Still not convinced? Check out the screencast.
