The four-year wait is almost over. Netflix has set a June 15th premiere date for the sixth season of sci-fi anthology series ‘Black Mirror.’ This latest season has been in the works for at least a year and creator Charlie Brooker has stated the new episodes would “keep things fresh” by tackling sci-fi tropes the series had previously avoided. Check out the new trailer.

The Television Academy has revealed this year's Emmy nominations and to absolutely no one's surprise, Game of Thrones scooped up the most nods with 32, including Outstanding Drama Series and 10 nominees across various acting categories. The show with the second-highest tally of nominations is Amazon Prime Video's The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel with 20. It won several awards last year, including the top Outstanding Comedy Series prize. It's nominated again in that category.

'Black Mirror' has nothing left to say

The scariest thing in Black Mirror season five is Nine Inch Nails' song "Head Like a Hole" transformed into a teenybopper tune by Miley Cyrus. It's inherently unsettling, as if we're peering into an alternate universe where Trent Reznor's gloomy lyrics have been transformed into anthems of positivity. ("I'm filled with ambition and verve, I'm gonna get what I deserve.") Like many ideas thrown around during the season, the song makes an impact, but Black Mirror fails to build on it. Instead of digging deeper into our relationship with technology and how it's transforming our society (something the series managed effortlessly in its earlier seasons), creator Charlie Brooker too often leans on surface-level observations.

You don't have to wait until June 5th to get your next fix of Black Mirror -- although it might not be what you were expecting. Netflix has announced a trio of Little Black Mirror short promo films with thematic links to the technology-gone-wrong series. They're aimed at a Spanish-speaking audience and will star a host of Latinx social network luminaries offering their take on the franchise, including Rudy Mancuso (who also directed and scored the series), Lele Pons and Juanpa Zurita.

Netflix packed May with new movies like Wine Country, the animated series Tuca and Bertie, a Ted Bundy biopic and more. Now, it's bringing just as much new content and star power to June. In just the first half of the month, Netflix will release season five of Black Mirror -- a three episode run, which you can watch trailers for now -- and the third and final season of Jessica Jones.

With season five of Black Mirror set to debut on June 5th, Netflix released trailers for each of the season's three episodes. They star Anthony Mackie and Miley Cyrus -- along with Topher Grace, Andrew Scott and Pom Klementieff. The show sticks to its critical stance on humanity's relationship with technology and features a voice-enabled robot pal gone awry and drama intertwined with meditation, fertility and dating apps. As Black Mirror Executive Producer Annabel Jones told Entertainment Weekly, the three episodes are socially relevant and have the show's signature "sense of mischief and romp."

While you were watching Black Mirror: Bandersnatch on Netflix, Netflix was watching you, too. A General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) request filed by University College London technology policy researcher Michael Veale revealed that Netflix kept track of every decision users made while watching the interactive film and has held onto that information long after viewers reached one of Bandersnatch's endings.

Only seven episodes of Charlie Brooker's Black Mirror have been made, but their dark and unsettling depictions of the future have garnered a sizeable cult following. Now, Radio Times is reporting that the show has attracted the attention of Netflix, and that the streaming service is keen to pull the show away from British broadcaster Channel 4. The show debuted in the UK in 2011, but it wasn't until last December that it landed on Netflix in the US. The last six months will have exposed the series to a massive audience -- at the same time, the streaming service is looking for popular shows to add to its growing "Originals" initiative. Charlie Brooker has previously confirmed that a third series is in the works, but so far we've only been treated to a Christmas special. If Netflix can persuade Brooker to switch allegiances, it would be another critically acclaimed show to slip in between seasons of Daredevil, Orange is the New Black and House of Cards.

Tonight, Charlie Brooker's acclaimed Black Mirror returns for a Christmas special. The 90-minute episode will feature three interwoven stories dripping in the show's trademark dystopian tech. It stars Jon Hamm (Mad Men), Rafe Spall (Prometheus, The Shadow Line), and Game of Thrones' unlucky bride Oona Chaplin. The exact plot of the show is unknown, but it's set in a world where people have the ability to "block" others, Facebook style, from their entire lives. Black Mirror: White Christmas airs tonight at 9PM on Channel 4 (you'll also be able to catch it later on 4oD) and is described as "the most mind-bending episode" of the show to date.
