Blizzard just posted the schedule and map for BlizzCon 2014. Of particular note for WoW is the Warcraft Movie panel on Friday afternoon. Could we finally be getting our first glimpse of actual movie footage? I'm not holding my breath. There's also a curiously empty 2-hour period after the opening ceremony. Hmm, I wonder what's going to be happening on the main stage then? Here's all the WoW panels: Warcraft Movie Presentation: Friday at 2:15 - 3:15 PM PT WoW Items, Class Changes, and More: Friday at 4:45 - 5:45 PM PT WoW Live Raid: Saturday at 10 - 11 AM PT Warlords of Draenor Cinematic Panel: Saturday at 2:15 - 3:15 PM PT WoW Q&A: Saturday at 3:30 - 4:30 PM PT You can view the full Friday and Saturday schedules as well as the floor plan on the official BlizzCon site. BlizzCon 2014 is being held on Friday, November 7 and Saturday, November 8. Only one month away!

BlizzCon is a great time to meet up with your WoW friends... provided you can find them. Unfortunately, the halls at the Anaheim Convention Center are usually dark, crowded, and noisy, which can make meeting up with the people you want fairly difficult, especially if the most you know of your guildies' looks is that they play a muscly green guy with a big sword. Fortunately, Blizzard is making it easier then ever to find your friends at BlizzCon, with the official BlizzCon Meeting Stone. The Meeting Stone will be located between halls B and C in the convention center and can easily serve as the anchor point for all your social meetups. Members of the Blizzard Community Team will also be stationed around the Meeting Stone to help facilitate meetups and make sure everyone is finding who they need to. They will even be putting together an official Meeting Stone schedule so large groups can have the opportunity to reserve adequate space. If you're interested, head on over to the official Meeting Stone forums for more information, or to organize your own BlizzCon meet up!

BlizzCon 2010 is almost here! If you're headed to BlizzCon 2010, you may notice something a little different this year. Unlike years past, when Community Team interaction was restricted largely to moderating panels, this year the blues will come to you -- on the convention floor, that is. Blue poster Nethaera announced this interesting change of procedure on the official forums earlier today. Nethaera For the past few years, you may have noticed Community Team members moderating the various BlizzCon panels. This year, things are a little bit different. Instead of moderating panels, we'll be providing BlizzCon updates on the forums, Facebook, and Twitter as well as mingling with attendees around the convention center. That's right, this year we will be among you and look forward to getting meet and talk with you during the convention. If you see one of us, feel free to stop us and say, "Hi". source This begs the question -- who's going to moderate all those panels? Regardless, this is apt to be a fun change for the Community Manager Team. So if you ever wanted to say hello to your favorite flickering candle or floating skull, keep your eyes peeled on the convention floor -- they could be right behind you!

  • New BlizzCon 2009 schedule available

Mere minutes after we posted the fact that Blizzard had retracted their previous schedule, they released a new one. The layout of the new schedule is less pleasing to the eyes and a bit harder to read, but there's certainly some interesting stuff there. For example, the first panel after the opening ceremonies is a "World of Warcraft Preview Panel." Previewing... what? Personally, I'm going to throw money down on Cataclysm. Also, it appears the PvP panel is gone. Folded into the two 1-hour long "class, item and profession" panels, perhaps? Then again, the PvP panel was really about the arena and battleground maps last year, wasn't it? If there's a Cataclysm preview, it very well might be a part of that. The Guild is also no longer competing with a WoW panel, and there's a new panel first thing on Saturday about breaking into the gaming industry. Plus, a 'live raid' panel probably similar to what they had at the last Worldwide Invitational: Watch one of the top guilds in the world tackle a high-end raid boss. Algalon, perhaps? Cool stuff. BlizzCon 2009 is coming up on August 21st and 22nd! We've got all the latest news and information. At BlizzCon you can play the latest games, meet your guildmates, and ask the developers your questions. Plus, there's some great looking costumes.

EDIT: New schedule is up. You can find it here. This morning we were greeted with the schedule of BlizzCon panels and everything was nice and comfy. No mention of the next expansion in the panels, but that was to be expected. After all, the class panel was on there and I'm sure Ghostcrawler would love to talk for an hour about what the classes will be like in WoW 4.0.2.But then this afternoon the schedules disappeared. Suddenly they were giving the Blizzard page not found error. Neth has since appeared and said that "the actual schedule is yet to be posted up." But we want to be sure that you know what they posted, and at least what the outline of BlizzCon will look like – even though it appears there'll be changes. Draw your own conclusions about what Cataclysmic event could cause this.So below are screen grabs of the schedule Blizzard didn't want you to see. We'll update when the new schedule is released.%Gallery-70355% BlizzCon 2009 is coming up on August 21st and 22nd! We've got all the latest news and information. Greetings folks, the middle of the week beckons once more! Only a few more days until BlizzCon and the Big Reveal. Excited yet? Come on, be honest, we're all friends here. As the rest of Team WoW.com boards their planes, trains, automobiles and - in Turpster's case - boats to rendezvous in sunny LA, some of us (eg me) has to stay behind and cover things remotely. While it would be nice to be there, I get to watch all the cool stuff from the privacy of my own living room come office, enjoy my Grunty (in six to eight weeks) and work in a brightly lit room on a comfy chair. Oh, and no blisters. So, it's maintenance time. Thankfully, it's a brief week with a live maintenance (yes folks it's rolling restart time) for all realms between 5:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. CEST. As per usual every realm will receive the customary fifteen minute notice prior to being restarted. There we go, nice and simple. If my beloved cats let me (ha!), I'm sleeping right through this one but if you happen to be up an about, don't forget there's a lot to catch up on this week from the return of the Broodmother to the appearance of the patch 3.2.2 PTR servers.See you on the other side!
