    Airbnb offers Sarah Jessica Parker as your shoe shopping partner

    Tomorrow morning, Sex and the City fans will have the opportunity to grab one of four Airbnb Experiences that will take them on a shopping trip with Sarah Jessica Parker. Airbnb is expanding its offerings of Experiences in New York City, which will include Parker's listing among a number of others. The proceeds of the Airbnb booking will go to the New York City Ballet. Parker, a NYC Ballet board member, told the Associated Press that the ballet is "one of the great cultural experiences anybody can have."

  • Shopping online doesn't mean you have to skip the tailor

    Before the end of the year, Macy's and Bloomingdale's will offer custom tailoring for clothes you purchase online. How does that work? Well, thanks to a new startup from Men's Warehouse founder George Zimmer, you just buy the clothes, and when they're delivered a tailor comes to you to ensure the proper fit. As you might expect, the on-demand option is only available in certain areas... for now. Los Angeles is the first pilot city, with other trials planned for New York City, San Diego, San Franciso and the states of Washington, Oregon and Florida. Don't live in any of those places? Fret not, the option is set to go nationwide this fall.

  • KTLA goes Apple Pay shopping with Apple's Eddy Cue

    Apple senior vice president of internet software and services Eddy Cue has a lot to be happy about with a successful Apple Pay rollout in the last month. He's so happy that he went out and did a lot of early holiday shopping with KTLA's Rich DeMuro at a number of stores that feature -- surprise! -- Apple Pay as a payment method. Cue and DeMuro started their day at Panera Bread, where they ordered a quick breakfast using the chain's app and picked it up, all without interacting with one of those pesky human beings. Then it was off to Bloomingdales, where Cue had the opportunity to pay at a terminal using the now-familiar tap with his finger on the Touch ID home button. At the Disney Store, Cue had to sign for his transaction, explaining that some retailers are still requiring signatures for larger transactions. DeMuro notes that Apple is hoping that eventually retailers will get rid of the need to sign at all. Eventually, the duo showed up at a Santa Monica, CA Apple Store to buy some new iPads ... which of course allow Apple ID purchases from within apps. All in all, this is a great introduction to Apple Pay if you haven't yet had the opportunity to try it out. The video will start in about 30 seconds after the ad.

    Odds are that you're used to ironing some of your clothes to keep them wrinkle-free, or taking them to the dry cleaners when you can't (or just won't) put them through a washing machine. No great shakes, right? Well, Procter & Gamble and Whirlpool apparently believe that these are terrible burdens -- the two have unveiled Swash, an appliance that freshens your clothing one piece at a time. The device uses the combination of heat and a special solution (held in "Swash pods") to eliminate wrinkles and smells in your apparel without either damaging it or requiring time-consuming care; your duds should be (almost) as good as new in roughly 10 minutes. It doesn't require water, and it can handle delicate materials like cashmere and lace. At first blush, it looks like a good way to save a favorite coat or sweater from the ravages of time.

    Listen up, Ringo Beatles fans -- your holiday gift has just been located, and it's on aisle 17 in Bloomingdale's. The somewhat janky limited edition collector's box is a dream come true for fanatics of the Fab Four, packing 13 original Beatles' CDs, an engraved guitar pick, two masters and the "Love" CD -- none of which are available via the iTunes Music Store, mind you. Just 2,500 of the $795 sets are available, but -- humorously enough -- you'll be stuck ripping and transferring every last disc onto your individually numbered, etched-with-a-Beatles-logo 120GB iPod classic. Ah well, at least this scenario lets you choose your own bitrate, right?
