  • Canada celebrates Boxing Day with two-game PS4 bundle

Boxing Day, the festive day following Christmas in which folks shop even more is upon us, friends. To celebrate, Sony will offer Canadian players a new PS4 bundle that includes two games. For $450, players can pick up the 500 GB PS4 console with NHL 15 (because Canada) and LittleBigPlanet 3 this Friday, December 26. Pre-orders for the Boxing Day bundle open on Wednesday, and it will be available through "major retailers." Canada's Boxing Day bundle's value compares fairly well to previous ones: Sony offered a PS4 for $400 earlier this month that packed in the buyer's choice of one game out of four options, LittleBigPlanet 3 being one of them. Walmart later sweetened that deal by tacking a $50 gift card onto the offer. While NHL 15 wasn't received well at its launch due to a number of missing modes, some of which returned in via patches, the platforming sequel starring Sackboy did get praise in our review for its "vibrant and inviting" world. Boxing Day is celebrated in the UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, and Apple has taken advantage of this holiday by launching Boxing Week. iPodNN says that Canada is the only country participating to date, with albums discounted to $6 to $8. In the U.S., there also is a sale going on with this year's chart toppers with albums dropped to $7.99, and most regions have a Beatles sale going on with the band's studio albums dropped to $9.99. They're a great way to maximize any iTunes gift card received during the holiday season.

The United States has Black Friday, Canada has Boxing Day. The biggest shopping day across Canada happens on December 26, retailers mark down their wares in hopes to reduce inventory on items that have flooded stockrooms throughout the year. Doesn't sound so glamorous but retailers often reduce big ticket items in hopes to lure in customers -- items like televisions and video game consoles.Best Buy Canada is offering the 60GB Xbox 360 package (complete with games) for $239.99, $60 off the regular price. Future Shop is offering the same bundle along with Halo 3 and Stranglehold for $259.99, a savings of $127. Walmart has the Xbox 360 Pro priced at $237.63 and the Xbox 360 Elite for $337.63 both a savings of just over $60. Toys R Us has reduced the Pro model bundle to $249.99 and the Elite model bundle to $349.99 both a savings of $50. If you're a Bell customer left out in the cold without the Storm you'd been desperately hoping for, odds are you're not alone -- to call quantities "limited" would be a gross understatement -- but we've got a bit of bright news to close out the year. We've been told that Bell is getting ready to release a bunch of Storm stock to kick off Boxing Day festivities with a bang, and more units will continue to filter in throughout the week. Heads up, though: they're still only at "select" locations and we suspect there won't be enough for everyone that wants one, so we wouldn't get all lackadaisical about running down to the store, you know?

We've already seen some fairly notable deals for a variety of Toshiba HD DVD players in America and Australia, so it's only fair that the Canucks get a bargain of their own, right? Starting at 6:00AM on Boxing Day (that's December 26th for us Americans), Futureshop will be offering up the HD-D3 for a mere $99.99 while supplies last. It needn't be said, but we'd recommend queuing up a few hours in advance if you're dead set on securing one.[Thanks to everyone who sent this in]
