Snoop iPhone data with limitations
The iPhone Spy Stick can be used to snoop information that is stored on a user's iPhone (even deleted data), within limitations. The ill-intentioned will want to keep reading. (Note: Link to BrickHouse Security was removed upon request of the site owner on 9/22/2014) The way that it works sounds simple (we haven't played with one yet). Just connect the stick and the target iPhone to a computer and run the included software, which pulls all sorts of data from the phone. You'll find deleted texts, calendar events, photos, and contact information. It'll also find recent map searches, locations tracked via GPS, Web history, and voice memos. Are you scared yet? Don't be. In order to work, the iPhone Spy Stick requires a Windows machine (Windows XP, Vista, or 7 only) and an iPhone that is running iOS 3.2.1 (and earlier). In other words, you can't run it on any iPhone from any machine. That's still some hard core snooping, though. I love that the manufacturer boasts that the device "Looks like an ordinary USB flash drive - no one will suspect that it's a professional grade forensics tool." I suppose that's in spite of the fact that is says, "iPhone Spy Stick" in huge, black and white letters. You can get yours for US$199. [Via Übergizmo]
GPS-equipped Car Camera Voyager Pro logs fender benders
Sure, these in-car crash loggers are a dime a dozen these days, but Brickhouse Security is pushing its Car Camera Voyager Pro as better than those ho hum alternatives thanks to the inclusion of GPS. As with most of its highly functional rivals, this one also packs a G-sensor that detects when a vehicle has been slammed into, bumped or otherwise rocked in an unorthodox manner; after that, it captures the 10 seconds immediately prior to and the 30 seconds immediately following the incident. Of course, you'll also be able to pinpoint your exact location thanks to the corresponding GPS information, which could certainly help you out when hunting down CCTV footage of the nut-job who rammed your whip and wheeled off to Wendy's as if nothing happened. Brickhouse Security's two-way micro headset may never leave your ear canal
Unlike Brickhouse Security, we won't go so far as to call this thing "invisible," but when placed in the ear, all but the most eagle-eyed among us are likely to overlook it. The elaborately named Secret Service Invisible 2-Way Micro Headset comes with an easily hidden wireless transmitter that plugs into any mobile with a 2.5-millimeter audio output. Once rigged up, the wearer can have someone listen in on conversation in a room while also receiving input from said listener. Unfortunately, this likely Jack Bauer-approved gizmo demands a practically ludicrous $649.95, so it looks like we'll be sticking to brute force and walkie talkies here.
