Welp, that's 90 minutes we're never getting back. In a lackluster announcement event held in San Francisco on Wednesday, Samsung execs stumbled their way through repeated applause breaks to tell the world about the company's newest needless mobile device: the Samsung Fold -- a phone that expands into a tablet and costs more than a phone and tablet put together. The company also unveiled new additions to its Galaxy S line, some derivative wireless earbuds and a wearable fitness tracker. Sorry, Galaxy Home fans, you're going to have to wait until at least April for updates.

It was a big day for Samsung and its recently maligned Note line of phones (becoming an explosive punchline will do that to a brand). The company revealed on Wednesday the Note 8, a 6.3-inch pocket computer sporting an improved stylus, dual rear cameras, 256GB of removable MicroSD storage, and a whole bunch of new tricks and treats for its users. Numbers, because how else would you count the incoming hot takes? Follow all the latest news from Samsung's Galaxy Note 8 event here!

There are a few things you can count on when Apple releases a new iPad: it will be thinner, it will be faster and there will be a LOT of hyperbole. Amidst the claims of magical devices, record-breaking sales and "very cool stuff" there are also a lot of numbers. Here's a closer look at the big digits from today's event.

Facebook launched ten years ago in February 2004. A month later, so did this site. Social media hasn't, doesn't and won't stay still. As Myspace rises, Friendster declines. The pattern's repeated itself a few times already, and even Google hasn't quite cracked the magic social network formula, at least not yet. The crown currently belongs to Facebook, a company that's made some big, big startup purchases on the way, although Twitter continues to pack (arguably) more influence. A whole lot has happened in the last decade, but we've tried to squeeze the more interesting parts into something a little more visual. Check out the full 'graphic, right after the break.

CES is pretty big. If you haven't already had it explained, it's a sprawling collection of cavernous halls, hotel suites and in-town meetings that require an unhealthy amount of coach trips and taxi rides. We've pulled together some numbers to help demonstrate the sort of scale involved but when you involve the likes of Sony, Samsung, Panasonic and more than 150,000 attendees, it's going to get a little messy.
