Halloween is always a fun time for gamers. This year, Overwatch fans get their second annual seasonal update in a day or so, while Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare players can jump into a month-long event dubbed "Willard Wyler's Halloween Scream." There are four weeks of creepy events scheduled, including free supply drops, themed loot, the "Carnage" multiplayer map with double XP and character skins to add to your fun. Starting October 13th, you can drop into themed boss battles, with new baddies added the following two weeks. Plus, there's a weird new mode called "gesture warfare" so you can crush your opponents with hand movements.

With the launch of the PlayStation 4 Pro in November, Sony promised a more powerful console with a boost in framerates and resolution pretty much across the board. Of course, that shiny new hardware doesn't do much good if the games themselves don't support those 4K resolutions. Now, with the impending release of the PS4's 4.50 system update, some of the biggest titles are ready to officially support the Pro in all it's 4K Ultra HD glory.

With Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare just now landing and Modern Warfare: Remastered reminding FPS fans of the franchise's glory days, Sony is ready to celebrate the Call of Duty New Year. It's that time of year when CoD players get their hands on a new game, start leveling up their weapon kits again and getting ready for the next round of Call of Duty World League. As they did with last year's release of Black Ops III, PlayStation will be kicking off the new season with an invitational tournament and some big announcements about what's in store for one of the biggest games in eSports.

There's already plenty to look forward to in Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare due out on November 4th: Space, futuristic weaponry, rifle customization, enhanced multiplayer modes and a bit of Jon Snow. While I missed the opportunity to try the game at the Tokyo Game Show this week, I did come across Jackal Assault, a PlayStation VR freebie that comes with the CoD title. And it didn't take long before I fell in love with this space dogfight demo. More importantly, I didn't feel sick at all, which is surprising given the speedy maneuvers I managed to pull.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare brings the war (and the fare) to space, and it's taking Game of Thrones actor Kit Harington and UFC fighter Conor McGregor along for the ride. Unfortunately, Activision and Infinity Ward didn't take this opportunity to make the world's best buddy-cop action-comedy game. Instead, Harington plays the evil Admiral Salen Kotch of the Settlement Defense Front and McGregor is his muscle, Captain Bradley Fillion. They're a pair of bad dudes in space suits and in the story campaign, it's your job to take them down.

Activision is raising the bar for its annual miniconvention celebrating its Call of Duty shooter franchise, Call of Duty XP. This year's has panels, eSports championships and performances by Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa, but the real attention is on news for the next entry in the franchise, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, which launches on November 4th. Here's all the new details of the modern shooter that studio executives shared this afternoon.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered will eventually include all 16 default multiplayer maps from the original game, Activision announced during a livestream at the Call of Duty XP fan event in Los Angeles. The game will launch with 10 "fan favorite" multiplayer maps, including Crash, Backlot, Crossfire, Overgrown and Bog, and the six remaining maps will be added in December.

We've known the upcoming Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare title would come bundled with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered for a few weeks now. However, at this week's E3, Sony and Activision clarified just how the availability of the reboot will go down. If you pre-purchase Infinite Warfare bundle that includes Modern Warfare Remastered for PS4, you'll receive that latter game a month before the duo is officially released on November 4th. Those packages range from $80 to $120 and the pre-release of Remastered will only feature the campaign. Those 10 multiplayer maps will remain under wraps until the first week of November.

'Game of Thrones' star Kit Harington is in the new 'Call of Duty'

Kit Harington, the actor best known as the fearless, misunderstood warrior Jon Snow on Game of Thrones, plays a dastardly villain in Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. He portrays the face of the Settlement Defense Front, a radical organization hellbent on destroying Earth. Even though no one in Game of Thrones is completely innocent, the Infinite Warfare gig is a far cry from Harington's regular role as a defender of humanity, Activision says.

Following a brief flurry of teaser trailers, developer Infinity Ward has unveiled its next game in the Call of Duty franchise. As expected, it's called Infinite Warfare and takes the series into space with robots, fighter jets and, of course, plenty of high intensity shootouts. Call of Duty has experimented with near-future settings before, but this pushes the concept further with a new foe called the Settlement Defense Front. The trailer starts with an invasion of Earth, before shifting perspective to aerial combat and, finally, an enemy spaceship infiltration. All the while, a cover of Space Oddity plays fittingly (and a little cheesily) in the background.

The Call of Duty series has been embracing dark sci-fi settings in recent games, and that trend doesn't seem to be slowing down any time soon. Activision has posted a teaser for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare that gives you a hint as what's coming, and it's clear that you'll have to grapple with yet another dystopic future. A fearsome-looking representative of the "Settlement Defense Front" threatens to tear out his foes "from the history books" and otherwise usher in doom, complete with a brief glimpse of a city being wiped out. Ominous!
