  • LG G-Slate spotted in Korean music video, 3D cameras and all?

Oh LG, did you really think you could slip an entire tablet past the eagle-eyed gadget obsessives of Korea? The G-Slate has been one of the more mysterious devices launched at CES this year, but it now appears to have shaken off some of its shyness and made a cameo appearance on K-Pop star Seungri's latest music vid. Our Korean correspondents inform us that Seungri's band Big Bang has had a relationship with LG since the introduction of the cheap and cheerful Lollipop handset (video evidence after the break), so it's not unreasonable to believe this young chap has an inside line on LG's upcoming hardware. His video shows an LG-branded slate at 0.53 and 1.52, and although we get only brief glimpses, one of them suggests a dual-camera array on the back, which seemingly corroborates earlier rumors of the G-Slate bringing some 3D voodoo to the market. Skip the break and see for yourself. [Thanks, Alan Yi]

  • Rumor: Kratos in Mortal Kombat, exclusively on PS3

It seems that the constantly furious Kratos of God of War fame could be appearing exclusively on the PlayStation 3 version of this February's Mortal Kombat. Fighting game site Shoryuken claims the January issue of PlayStation: The Official Magazine will detail as much, though copies of the magazine have yet to arrive in readers' hands. The Grecian rage machine will purportedly not appear in the game's story mode, but will rip apart characters in versus. Also, if the rumor is true, we're putting this out there right now: fatality featuring a stampeding Pegasus. Just sayin'! Anyway, between the issue's impending release and the nearing VGAs, we hope to hear more on Kratos' cameo soon. Who's next? Link in the Wii version -- oh, wait a minute ... [Thanks, Adam]

Get out your bright red codpiece for this week's Dance Central DLC. Cameo's "Word Up!," whose video features the aforementioned junk accoutrement, is one of the three songs that will be available for your download-and-dance pleasure tomorrow, November 23. The other two songs include Tag Team's classic "Whoomp! There It Is" and The Black Eyed Peas' "I Gotta Feeling." We've included links to each song's music video after the break, so you can learn some of the moves already associated with the songs, which will likely be worked into the Central routines. For example, the LeVar Burton Seethe.

  • Screen Grabs: Dell Streak recruited into NCIS:LA for some undercover duty, fights evil Adamo XPS

Screen Grabs chronicles the uses (and misuses) of real-world gadgets in today's movies and TV. Send in your sightings (with screen grab!) to screengrabs at engadget dt com. Dell's product placement deal with CBS apparently doesn't stipulate whether its gadgets will be used for good or evil, as illustrated by their cameo appearances on the network's NCIS:LA crime drama. In last night's episode, lead do-gooder Special Agent Callen is seen preparing a Streak tabletphone for some audio recording action before a meeting with the baddies -- who in turn whip out an Adamo XPS (yes, it's still alive!) to seal a deal for some ultra-advanced weaponry. Yep, it's a non-stop cliché extravaganza! [Thanks, James and Tarek]

  • Internet Explorer 9 makes cameo appearance on Microsoft Russia site

Microsoft's gotten a little carried away with its Internet Explorer 9 excitement and posted an early screenshot of the browser up on its Russian site. The post and the image have since been diligently pulled, but not before Mary-Jo Foley managed to snag the pictorial evidence. What's new to see? A resoundingly minimal interface, that's what. The Chrome comparisons should be raining down thick and heavy if this snapshot is anything to go by, as Microsoft has done a fine job of ridding its browser from pesky menus, consolidated its controls into a few icons in the top right, and combined the search and address bars into one. Of course, given the earlier leak of screenshots, those menus could still just be hiding somewhere nearby, ready to spring at us. Another similarity to Chrome (and Firefox and Safari) is the new ability to "tear off" tabs from one window and reposition them independently. We'll see how closely the Beta aligns to what we see here when it debuts for real on September. 15.

Left 4 Dead's eerie atmosphere was made exponentially more engrossing by the warnings scrawled on the walls of each safe house by other survivors. Left 4 Dead 2's downloadable chapter "The Passing," released earlier today, features the above note, apparently written by another down-on-his-luck Zombocalypse veteran. Located by the sharp-eyed bloggers of Destroyed Controller, It reads: "Otis, Out of film, no helicopter. Zombies are too fast. Not going to make it. - Frank West." It's a real shame that West's had to suffer such misfortune. We doubt he'd be in such an unfavorable position if he possessed the ingenuity of his spiritual successor. Update: We snapped some pics of our own, like the one above. Head past the break for a few more.

Exhibit A: Image, left. The creator of the Final Fantasy franchise, Hironobu Sakaguchi. Observe the slightly arched brow. The dark, even surfer's tan. The exquisite mustache and soul patch combo. The look of general disinterest. Exhibit B: Image, right. The recently revealed character from Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep, Master Eraquis. Observe the similarly bowed eyebrows. The sun-kissed skin tone. The Guy Fawkes-esque facial hair. The expression of consternation. What do you think, dearest readers? Is it a cameo, or pure coincidence? We're leaning towards the former. We mean, just look at those eyebrows. Look at them! At the very least, they're identical eyebrow twins. [Via Andriasang]

HBO's True Blood houses an all-star cast, one of which consistently tops the sales charts throughout the gaming world -- of course, we're referring to the Nintendo Wii. The home console has made multiple appearances in the show, from the main character showcasing his golf skills to its most recent cameo -- showing off the upcoming shooter, Dead Space: Extraction. In last night's week's season 2 episode, "New World In My View," Hoyt Fortenberry's aggressive mother waggles her way through a slew of Extraction enemies. While the game won't hit store shelves until September 29, the popular adult drama looks like as good a place as any to get the game's marketing machine rolling. Check out the clip after the break. • T-Mobile's connected Cameo digiframe plummets in price, gets reviewed

Man, that was fast. Really fast. Not like we're shocked at all to hear that T-Mobile customers weren't really digging the idea of paying ten bones per month to keep a digital photo frame alive, but hey -- it was worth a shot, right? As of today, T-Mobile's quickly forgotten Cameo connected digiframe has dropped from $99.99 to $39.99 up front, while the recurring charge to keep the media flowin' has nearly vanished by going from $9.99 per month to just $1.99 per month. Reviewers over at ZDNet seemed to be quite pleased with the value proposition at the new price point, noting that it was perfect for technologically illiterate family members who yearned to see digital images of you and yours. Sadly, you still have to walk into a T-Mobile retail store to actually buy one, but at least it's finally worth your while to do so.

Street Fighter's Blanka is joining in on Flock's animal herding antics. Capcom confirms that the electrical Amazonian will be an unlockable in the upcoming overcute strategy game, rolling and crushing anything in his path. Check it out in the embedded video after the break! Capcom isn't saying exactly how to get at the chartreuse brawler. However, we imagine it won't be a secret for long once Flock abducts our free time this week over Steam on April 7, XBLA on April 8 and finally PlayStation Network on April 9.

The unique, cell-connected T-Mobile Cameo has been on sale just under a month now, and our brethren over at Engadget Spanish were able to acquire one for testing. As always, they unboxed things first to satisfy your never-ending desire for undressed gadgets, and even threw in a few impressions to boot. Essentially, setup was a snap, and operation couldn't have been simpler. Now, if only there were a way to make that monthly charge for staying connected simpler to digest; hit the read link for lots more shots.

We already knew how much the world's first digital picture frame tied to a wireless carrier network would cost, but no one bothered to mention a specific release date. Regardless, the T-Mobile Cameo is finally available in T-Mob retail stores, and it'll cost you $99.99 up front plus $9.99 per month for the connected services. It's the gift that keeps on giving taking.

We never thought we'd live to see the day that digital photo frames had cooler phones than our parents. Actually, okay, that doesn't surprise us at all -- and T-Mobile's helping us live out that reality with the Cameo, its Parrot-sourced frame that features integrated GSM hardware and a dedicated phone number that lets loved ones shoot pictures to it from afar via MMS or email. The rumored details have turned out to be spot-on, meaning that you'll be paying $99.99 for the frame plus another $9.99 monthly to keep the line active. An exact launch date has yet to be revealed, it'll be available at some point in mid-November.

  • T-Mobile's Cameo reviewed: works pretty much as advertised

Don't deny it -- you're inexplicably drawn to a digital photo frame that has its own phone number. Rather than just buying blind to see if you really dig the Cameo, however, why not pore over this here review? In testing, the device (manufactured by Parrot) was said to work practically as advertised, with just a few small quirks preventing it from receiving the highest marks. Critics were able to MMS over images from a variety of rival networks, though they did have issues making the frame accept a photo message from Sweden. Overall, however, it was noted that usability was remarkably high and that the process was easy enough for most anyone to grasp. 'Course, you should probably convince yourself you're going to use the thing quite a bit before committing to a $10 per month fee to keep the $100 frame connected, but outside of that, you ought not be too disappointed.

It's been nearly a year since Parrot announced its DF7700 GPRS-endowed picture frame, said to possess the mystical ability to pull photographs straight out of the ether. Now T-Mobile has pledged to bring Parrot's magic frame to the US as the CAMEO, a $100 device that, when coupled with a $10/month service fee, can be the recipient of picture-bearing messages. When you get bored with that feature (or that fee), there's a mini-USB port plus slots for SD/MMC cards that will enable it to accept pics in a more traditional manner. Its 7-inch screen has a 720 x 480 resolution and is surrounded by an interchangeable leather border guaranteed to look cheap in any decor -- not just those with golden mirrors astride marble mantelpieces.[Thanks, Mark]

Click for more Ulala goodness. A Sonic cameo in Samba de Amigo has long been old news, grandpa, but we've also been promised appearances from other Sega characters and venues. Here are the fruits of those promises: a cameo from the galaxy's funkiest news reporter, Ulala, and a special Space Channel 5 stage. Ulala's presence makes perfect sense really; as the protagonist of Sega's other awesome rhythm extravaganza, her inclusion was surely inevitable. Now all she needs is her own game. Times are hard at Casa de Sonic. Rumors persist that the down-and-out Erinaceinaean will grab any work he can in his desperate bid to scrape together enough gold rings for his next rent payment, and here is the damning proof, reader: a snatched shot of the impoverished blue one in forthcoming shakefest Samba de Amigo. This will be Sonic's fourth bit-part role in a Wii game, following his appearances in Smash Bros. Brawl, Sega Superstars Tennis, and Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games (where his name was humiliatingly placed after that of his old foe). The Official Nintendo Magazine site says that Sonic is just "one of many" Sega stars who will appear in Samba, and that the game will contain Sega-themed stages (as evidenced by the shot above), much like Sega Superstars Tennis.A spokesperson for Sonic was not available for comment.

  • Halo 3 voice-over auction with Halo 4 redemption? [update 1]

    02.19.2007

An auction for charity points to signs of Halo 4. The eBay auction is a chance to have a voice-over cameo in the upcoming Halo 3. The bidding started at $1000 and the money goes directly to support Hollywood Arts, which reaches out to homeless youth in Los Angeles through the arts, including video games. We've confirmed the voice-over donation and copy printed in the auction came directly from Bungie and says, "Voiceover [sic] will be recorded at Blindlight Studios in Hollywood, CA before May 15, 2007 or this package will have to [be] redeemed for Halo 4. Winner is responsible for transportation and accommodations to and from Hollywood, CA." Executive Director of Hollywood Arts, Dylan Kendall, is excited by the auction and for the generosity shown by Bungie and many other companies. She says Tommy Tallarico assisted in helping get the auction items. Although we've confirmed that the Halo 4 line was written by Bungie, it could also just mean Halo Wars. So, Bungie really helped out Hollywood Arts big time. They wrote auction text that would get millions to view the page by just mentioning Halo 4 -- now that's how you hype charity! [Update 1: Fixed information after speaking with Hollywood Arts' Executive Director Dylan Kendall][Thanks Master x 24]

Well color us red: TUAW reader loki capret tipped us off that we've been honored with a cameo appearance in the latest Joy of Tech! The comic (their latest as of this writing) features Apple's keynote command bunker, and you can imagine everything they need to keep track of in such a top secret and secure monitoring facility. Without ruining much more of the comic, you can simply see a screenshot of TUAW (alongside Engadget) on what must be a massive Cinema display for internal use only.Check out the comic for yet another good laugh from the JoT crew, and a big thanks to them for the cameo! We'd also like to thank the readers, and our AOL overlords, and the committee, our manager for believing in us and...Thanks, loki!
