Few things in life are better than videos and GIFs about cats -- they bring joy to people. If you feel that way, then you'll probably want to download this new iOS app called Cat Shake. As its name suggests, the application requires you to, well, shake your device to fulfill its purpose. Once you do so, your reward will be too-cute-to-handle cat videos, "classic" cat GIFs and, because why not, adorable cat sounds. For those of you who don't have an iPhone or iPad, don't worry -- you can always go to Tumblr TV, type in what cat you're in the mood for (we'd recommend "funny cat") and problem solved. Or, you know, there's YouTube too.

Earlier this month, Apple fans from around the world eagerly watched WWDC 2014 to see what Apple had in store for iOS and OS X. As shown in this wonderful Caturday photo from a TUAW reader, people weren't the only captivated members of the audience -- some felines were curious about Apple's big announcements, too. This lovely black and white cat, named Pepper, was spotted catching up on the latest WWDC news using an iPad owned by a family friend. Judging by the look on Pepper's face, Apple's keynote was just purrrfect. We'll be starting up our Dog Days of Summer feature on July 5, so we'd like to ask our canine-owning readers to start sending in those pics of their favorite pups hard at work on "their" Apple devices. If you have a Dog Days nominee to share, let us know via our feedback page (and please remember that the photo has to have some sort of connection to Apple and its products -- don't just send us a photo of your canine buddy). For security reasons we can't accept inbound attachments, so you should host the photo (Dropbox, Flickr, iPhoto Journals, etc.) and send us the link. Many thanks to Lauren Neilly for the picture of Pepper perusing Apple's presentation.

Cats are like Apple products -- it's hard to stop at just one. Reader Alexa Sherwood-Brown shared a number of cat photos with us, but the awwwww-some video she linked of little George (named after Prince George of Cambridge) was just too hard to pass up. The two cats at the top of the page are Charley (left) and TIgger (the ginger cat at right), and here's what Alexa has to say about this trio of felines: The kitten is called George, named after the prince. He's roughly the same age as the prince (we're not sure as we took him in as a stray). The other two are Charley (the black one) and Tigger (the old ginger one). They all love playing and lying on the laptops (although they do make it hard work when they move over the trackpad) - in fact George has sent a few emails before I've finished typing them! Many thanks to Alexa Sherwood-Brown for the pictures of her feline companions and that wonderful video of George

We're going to repress the overwhelming urge to say "Street Fighter doesn't work like that," and will instead present this stop-motion, kitten-oriented Street Fighter parody video without comment. Because, really, what more do you need than "kitten-oriented Street Fighter parody video."

Vine, the micro-filmmaking cousin of Twitter, has just been updated to version 1.1 with a few important new features. The biggest addition is the ability to use the front-facing camera on your iPhone, making it easier than ever to switch angles on the fly. No longer will you have to restart filming a video because you were trying to film your own face and accidentally aimed over your shoulder. Version 1.1 also brings user mentions to posts, similar to how you add friends on Twitter. Simply add an @ -- either manually or via the new "mention" button -- and type in their name like you would in Twitter. People search has been improved as well, adding the ability to look up other users by their Twitter handles. The new app is available for download right now. In the interest of science I tested the new forward-facing camera feature while writing this post. Here is the result:
