The first season of 'Cobra Kai' no longer requires YouTube Premium
The first season of Cobra Kai, which is one of YouTube's most popular originals to date, is now free to watch. It used to be exclusively available to paying subscribers until YouTube decided to switch up its strategy and make its premium originals available as ad-supported shows. The Google subsidiary promised to give the general public access to both upcoming and older shows, though previous releases will only be available for free for a limited time. In Cobra Kai's case, the whole first season will be available for streaming at no cost until September 11th. The second season will then replace it for free viewing that day.
'Game of Thrones' and Amazon's 'Mrs. Maisel' lead Emmy nominations
The Television Academy has revealed this year's Emmy nominations and to absolutely no one's surprise, Game of Thrones scooped up the most nods with 32, including Outstanding Drama Series and 10 nominees across various acting categories. The show with the second-highest tally of nominations is Amazon Prime Video's The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel with 20. It won several awards last year, including the top Outstanding Comedy Series prize. It's nominated again in that category.
YouTube's 'Cobra Kai' season two trailer shows rival dojos preparing for battle
The Karate Kid fans will get another dose of the LaRusso vs Lawrence rivalry when Cobra Kai returns to YouTube Premium on April 24th. The first trailer for the show's second season just dropped and it's full of throwbacks to the original film -- not the three sequels because they ignored Willam Zabka's marauding brute Johnny Lawrence. Here, however, he gets equal billing with Ralph Macchio's idealistic karate champion Daniel LaRusso.
