Atlus' 3DS brawler Code of Princess sold "beyond" expectations in the US and producer Yasuo Nakajima thinks the PS4 and Xbox One would be great fits for a sequel. "Kinu-san already has ideas about Code of Princess 2 in mind already," Nakajima told Siliconera. "If Code of Princess 2 goes into development maybe it will be for consoles like PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. I want to develop a sequel to Code of Princess for core gamers like fans that are anticipating Dragon's Crown now." A sequel, as of now, has not formally entered development. Code of Princess was developed by Agatsuma Entertainment in collaboration with Bones animation studio. It's a hack-and-slash brawler made available as a physical cartridge release last October, followed by an eShop launch in January of this year. The game launched in Europe back in March, available exclusively as an eShop download.

Today's European Nintendo Direct broadcast flung an onslaught of new release dates and windows our way, but after dusting ourselves off we've managed to gather them all up nice and neat into a hopefully helpful post. We've already covered concrete EU release dates for Animal Crossing: New Leaf (June 14), Fire Emblem Awakening (April 19), and others, so let's quickly go over the stragglers.First up is Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity, which brings its mix of cute critters and dungeon crawling to the continent on May 17. As for the rest, it's just release windows for now. Splattered across the panes of the spring window are Etrian Odyssey 4 and the download-only Code of Princess, while Project X Zone and a 3DS version of Inazuma Eleven 3, with 3D-enhanced graphics, are baking in the heat of the summer window.

The dungeon RPG Unchained Blades, long available on PSP, makes its way to 3DS eShop today. Originally released as a retail game in Japan, XSEED's localized version is exclusively downloadable. The brawler/RPG Code of Princess is also downloadable today, but not exclusively: it was released as a 3DS cart back in October.Mobile and PC platformer Gunman Clive is also on 3DS today, with its unusual sketches-on-yellowed paper look. And on Wii U: nothing! If you got one over the holidays, now's the time to catch up on Little Inferno and Mighty Switch Force, or something.

In reviewing games at Joystiq, our mission is always to attempt to convey the actual experience of playing a game, as opposed to just listing its features and capping things off with a score. In the case of Code of Princess on the 3DS, that experience boils down to tapping the B button like a caffeine addict, with the occasional special move thrown in for flavor. It's not as though Code of Princess is the only brawler to succumb to this pattern, however, and like other brawlers, it still manages to be enjoyable in spurts, but rings hollow by the time the credits roll.%Gallery-168513%

The latest trailer for Code of Princess is more unabashed than previous ones about its lead character's clothing (or lack thereof). The 3DS brawler offers plenty of better-armored playable characters, along with co-op and versus modes which can be played both locally and online. It comes to our shores next week on October 9.

Code of Princess, the Guardian Heroes-esque 3DS brawler (featuring members of the Guardian Heroes staff!) will be released in North America on October 9. Those who pre-order the game will get a "Sound + Visual Book" with selected art and music. Before the North American announcement, the most famous aspect of the game was the wildly inappropriate way main character Solange dresses. Watch the above trailer closely to see how Atlus shifts the focus away from that aspect.

Code of Princess, like many Atlus games in the past, offers a couple of nice physical pre-order bonus items: a soundtrack and an artbook. Perhaps, considering the nature of Kinu Nishimura's character designs for this game, this one isn't necessarily for public display. You can see what we're talking about in the trailer. Also visible in the trailer: information about the cooperative and competitive online multiplayer, which remains a rarity for 3DS games. Just don't watch it at work!

Atlus announced this morning that it's bringing action RPG brawler Code of Princess over to North America this fall. The 3DS title features cooperative and competitive multiplayer, merging elements of classic arcade beat 'em ups with RPG character progression.Pre-orders of the game at (currently unspecified) locations will obtain the game's "sound and visual book." We take that to mean soundtrack and art book, but it's the week of E3, so it could be a glorified talking Hallmark card for all we know.%Gallery-156832%
