Those looking for a projector for something other than their home theater now have a bundle of new options to consider courtesy of Viewsonic, which has just announced five new models intended primarily for business and education use. Those include the PJ557D, PJ559D, PJ560D, PJ551D and PJ260D models, each of which appear to be only minor upgrades over earlier, similarly-numbered models. As with those previous models, these are all squarely at the low end of the spectrum, ranging in price from $649 to $1,099, and topping out at the standard XGA resolution. Standing out the most from the lot is the PJ560D model which, at 3,200 lumens is the brightest of the bunch, and the PJ260D, which is the only portable projector from the batch (although it still boasts a decent 2,000:1 contrast ration and 2,000 lumens). Look for all five to be available from all the usual sources sometime next month.

Toshiba's new TLP-X3000AU projector certainly isn't a radical departure from the company's original TLP-X3000U model, but those looking to add a little big screen action to their conference room will likely still find a few things to like, not the least of which is its new lower price. That now comes in at $1,119, which buys you a standard 1024 x 768 resolution, a less-than-impressive 400:1 contrast ratio, and a more than adequate 3,000 ANSI lumens. According to Toshiba, you should also get about 3,000 hours of use from the lamp in Eco-Mode, and you can foil potential thieves by taking advantage of the projector's removable control panel and other theft prevention measures. If that suits, you should be able to get your hands on this one right now.

Toshiba unveiled their latest conference room projector today, the TDP-TW100U, an otherwise run-of-the-mill unit made a bit more notable thanks to the built-in wireless networking. Listing at a fairly reasonable $1,699, the DLP projector will pump out your presentations at 1024 x 768 resolution with 2,700 ANSI lumens and a respectable 2,000:1 contrast ratio, and it'll do it with a minimum of cables, of course, thanks to that 802.11b/g WiFi. It comes up a bit short in terms of inputs though, with only one S-Video, one RCA composite, and two plain-old VGA ports, making it quite a bit less appealing for anyone thinking of using it for home theater purposes. It does, however, have a USB port that'll let you deliver a full presentation with nothing more than a USB thumb drive. If that's enough for ya, you can get your hands of one of these now.
