Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be locked in a crate with absolutely no contact with the outside world except through an online game? No? Well, neither have we. Artist Jordan Long, however, apparently has, and for his first solo show he intends to ship himself in a crate from Bald Knob, AK to Portland, OR with Lord of the Rings Online as his only contact with the outside world. You may be asking yourself, "What exactly is the purpose of this little stunt?" A fair question. According to Mr. Long, the focus of his art is the study of trauma and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and he claims that many who are confined to their homes due to such trauma tend to find their escape in the form of online games such as LotRO, where they can "enter and exit whenever they choose, be whoever they want to be and feel like functioning members of society again." It's an interesting concept, to say the least. If you want to follow Jordan's project, you can keep an eye on his official site.

Yarrr, maties! Turn yer eyes up above, off starboard! Aye, there be a miniature pirate ship herself, complete with three masts and all the sails and rigging on a custom stand, packed in an official Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean Online wooden crate. Ye want her, matey? Then she's yours... if ye win!Yes, Massively is giving away not one but two of these miniature pirate ships (they stand a little over a foot tall, and a little longer across), and with them, a yearlong subscription to Disney's online Pirates of the Caribbean game, estimated retail value of a hefty $145 each. To enter, all you have to do is leave a comment on this post with your best pirate impression-- that can include some insults, a shanty of some sort, or just a good old fashioned "Yaarrrr!". Put a comment (and only one) on this post before Thursday afternoon, January 31st, at 3pm EST, and after that we'll choose not one but two winners to receive the miniature ships and a year of free PotC gameplay. There are caveats in the pirate code-- you must be 18 years of age or older, and you must be living within the United States (that's right-- due to legal regulations, pirates of the Caribbean are not actually allowed to win). Also make sure to use an email that you regularly check to enter the comment, as that's where we'll be contacting the winner. Full official rules are here.Good luck, landlubbers! And stay out of Davey Jones' locker!

While a USB keyboard may do the ivory-ticklers in the crowd some good, Crate is looking out for the six-string warriors by shipping its USB-equipped Profiler 5 mini amplifier. This five-watt combo guitar amp measures in at less than eight-inches tall and weighs just six-pounds, and aside from giving users the option of powering it via an AC adapter or six AA cells, there's also an auxiliary input for rocking along with your DAP. More important, however, is the rear-mounted USB port (shown after the jump), which enables guitarists to easily record their shredding without any external breakout boxes. So if you think you can give the twin four-inch speakers in Crate's latest all they can handle, the Profiler 5 is available now for $159.99.

Mad Catz is always good for a branded peripheral or two, but five? Yes sir, Mad Catz adds to the momentum of the Gears of War hype machine with a Console Crate (pictured right), a Console Skinz and faceplate combo pack, and three additional faceplates.True Gearheads will have some hunting to do. To collect all four faceplates, you'll have to journey to Best Buy, Circuit City, and Gamestop, as each retailer has been stocked with an exclusive plate. We suppose you could order each online and save yourself the trekking, but where's the fun in that? Okay, seriously, does anyone buy faceplates?
