The Humble Square Enix Bundle launched today, offering multiple games from the Deus Ex and Hitman franchises for a user-determined price with proceeds benefiting GamesAid and Make-A-Wish. All bundle buyers receive Steam-redeemable Windows versions of Hitman, Hitman 2, Daikatana, Thief Gold, Mini Ninjas, and Anachronox. A purchase of $14.99 or more will also unlock copies of Deus Ex: Game of the Year Edition, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days, Just Cause 2, and Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light. The Humble Square Enix Bundle will remain available through August 5. [Video: Humble Bundle]

Fancy yourself some cheap, old Eidos games? GOG.com has its entire Square Enix catalog on sale for half price this weekend, which translates to Eidos classics like the Tomb Raider, Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver, Hitman, Thief, Deus Ex and more – all for five bucks or less.Oh, did we say the entire Square Enix catalog? We meant everything except Daikatana, John Romero's infamous flop, which was just released on the service. If you've got a mean masochistic streak, you can fork over $6 to try it out.

  • Fury still being sold in retail outlets, but who's buying it?

There's a forum post at atomicmpc.com that involves itself with the fact that Fury is still being sold in retail outlets (Electronics Boutique specifically named, though apparently there are others), when the game is free to download and free to play. As written here, though, it's not quite so cut-and-dried, as there is a slight benefit to owning the physical disc. My question, however, is this: given the depth of negative press Auran has gotten for Fury, is it worth paying for at all? Across the board, Fury's gotten nothing but horrible reviews, and I'm surprised the game exists at all. This is an industry story on the level of Duke Nukem Forever, or Daikatana. Is the disc worth owning for any reason other than a White Elephant gift?

  • Daikatana to bless GameTap on September 6th

Long before the shame of Red Steel and well beyond the absurdity of Advent Rising, there existed only Daikatana. A game so dreadfully awful that the mere mention of it can be considered the setup and the punchline. Should you not be fortunate enough (yes, fortunate) to have experienced this godless monster of taint, GameTap will be offering it up to subscribers come September 6th.We knew their deal with Eidos was too good to be true and we can only imagine the stipulations of having franchises like Tomb Raider, Hitman and Thief on the GameTap service. A contract -- weaved with the legendary locks of John Romero's lost mane and signed in blood harvested from the liver of a newborn child -- one that demanded Daikatana live once more.In the name of Superfly Johnson, amen.[Thanks, Johnny Bloom!]

  • S.T.A.L.K.E.R finally gets a date. Of sorts.

When a needlessly cryptic countdown appears on a website built to promote a specific title, we naturally assume that it's counting down to a release date. But without an official confirmation, we're a bit hesitant to call the clock currently running on the S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl website a release countdown. We've been scorned before, baby. We know your dirty little tricks. Originally announced in 2001, GSC Game World's S.T.A.L.K.E.R has been the recipient of many a vaporware award throughout its illustrious career of back burning. Having consulted the Joystiq abacus, we have determined that the countdown ends on March 22nd, 2007. What will happen exactly is up in the air. It could be a release date, or possibly even a demo of the game. It could even be an announcement of an announcement! S.T.A.L.K.E.R to be retooled into a Daikatana expansion pack confirmed!
