July is soon to arrive, and with it comes six games for PlayStation Plus subscribers to freely download. Falling in line with the program's rule changes introduced in late May, the six games are split evenly among PS4, PS3 and Vita, though some are Cross Buy-compatible. Leading the group on PS4 is Towerfall: Ascension and Strider, followed by Dead Space 3 and Vessel for PS3. The two Vita games going free this coming month are Doki-Doki Universe and Muramasa Rebirth. The former is Cross Buy-enabled, so PS4 and PS3 owners will also have access to the game, whereas Muramasa will only be available for free in North America. European PS Plussers will instead receive Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes. Heavy discounts for the six games will available as of July 1, so those that haven't picked up June's free games should do so this week before it's too late. [Image: Capcom]

This week's PlayStation Store update is headlined by the painfully cute Doki-Doki Universe, a game about empathy and space exploration. In our review, we called the cross-buy PS3/PS Vita game "uplifting in a way that few games are; it will make you more optimistic about the world around you, and it'll make you feel like a better person for playing it." On the PS Plus side, the PS3 version of Borderlands 2 is this week's free download for subscribers. The PSN Holiday Sale also continues unabated, with discounts on Tomb Raider, Marvel vs Capcom 2, Dragon's Crown, Spelunky and more. In addition to that, Saints Row: The Third: The Full Package and Dead Island Riptide have had their prices permanently reduced. For the full list of this week's content, head on over to the PlayStation Blog.

  • Doki-Doki Universe review: Love machine

Doki-Doki Universe is a game about empathy, and that's weird. In many of the games I played this year, you often solve problems by shooting people in the face. That, I can handle. In Doki-Doki Universe, your antagonists aren't clearly defined, and your progress is measured by your ability to seek out societal problems and solve them indirectly through non-violent means. Doki-Doki Universe's gameplay lands somewhere in between Animal Crossing and a Myers-Briggs personality test. It's like nothing else I've ever played, and it's pretty awesome...in a totally weird sort of way.

Doki-Doki Universe, from Toejam & Earl creator Greg Johnson and HumaNature Studios, is set to launch on PS3, PS4 and PS Vita next week, on December 10, for $15. Doki-Doki Universe will be cross-buy enabled, so picking it up on one platform will unlock it on all the others. Doki-Doki Universe puts players in the cold metallic boots of a robot name QT3, whose model is set to be discontinued. By proving to Alien Jeff (just go with it) you've got some humanity, he won't send you off to the scrap heap. Naturally, QT3 aims to accomplish this by traversing different planets, interacting with their inhabitants and taking personality quizzes. There is also a neat message-sharing mechanic where you can send animated messages to friends on Facebook and mobile at the heart of Doki-Doki Universe. Players can also create their own planet and allow their friends to visit. A free "Starter Pack" version of Doki-Doki Universe including a few personality tests, the Doki-Doki Mail messaging feature, a tutorial planet and QT3's home planet will be available alongside the premium version at launch on December 10.

Doki-Doki Universe, from ToeJam & Earl creator Greg Johnson and HumaNature Studios, is a game about a robot endeavoring to become more human. As Sony executive producer Alex Lee tells us in this E3 demonstration, it's also a game about self-discovery, stealing hugs from widows and sending bizarre text messages featuring adorable, animated sushi. Yeah, you'll really just have to see it for yourself. Doki-Doki Universe is slated for PS3, PS4 and Vita this year.%Gallery-187739%

Greg Johnson, creator of the funky Sega Genesis classic Toejam & Earl, is heading up studio HumaNature's development of Doki-Doki Universe, a newly announced game for the PlayStation 4, PS3, and PS Vita. Doki-Doki Universe, which Johnson describes as an "RPG/Simulation/Interactive Story game," stars an abandoned robot who travels across the universe and interacts with a host of living creatures, growing more human-like as the narrative progresses. The expansive game world features a wide variety of collectible items and character-driven puzzles, and players will develop a unique, shareable personality profile as they play. Doki-Doki Universe will launch as a free download that allows players to fly around the game's universe, take personality quizzes, and send animated cross-platform messages via the included Doki-Doki Mail messaging app. The game's full story mode will be available as add-on content.%Gallery-187739%
