Apparently not one to be confined to the usual "netbook" considerations, Japan's DosPara has now gone out and broken a few rules with its new Prime Note Cresion NA model, which not only packs a larger than usual 12-inch display, but a nettop-specific dual-core Atom 330 processor as well. That gets paired with NVIDIA's Ion chipset, along with 2GB of RAM, a 320GB hard drive, your choice of built-in optical drive, a memory card reader, and an HDMI port, to name but a few less than standard netbook features. Of course, all of that comes with a fairly significant increase to the size and weight of the laptop, but at least the ¥59,980 price tag (or just about $600) isn't too unreasonable.[Via Netbooknews.com]

It's been forever and a day since we heard from Dospara, but as it typically does, it's just hanging around and waiting to see what catches on before it dives in. Case in point: here we have the Prime Note Cartina UM, an 8.9-inch netbook that's hitting alongside the second and third iteration of everyone else's. You could likely guess the specifications in your sleep, but we'll humor you anyway; we've got a 1.6GHz Atom N270 CPU, 1GB of DDR2 RAM, 120GB hard drive, a 1,024 x 600 panel, 802.11b/g WiFi, a battery good for two hours and a mysterious Linux build pre-installed. You won't find an optical drive bundled in, but you will find a ¥39,980 ($413) price tag should you venture over to Japan.[Via Liliputing]

Japan's Dospara doesn't look to be trying too hard to conceal the source of its latest laptop, with the MSI logo prominently displayed on the lid of its new Prime Note Galleria, and just barely visible below the screen above. Cross-branding issues aside, the laptop certainly looks like it'll get the job done, boasting a 17-inch 1680 x 1050 display, Core 2 Duo T7300 processor, 2GB of RAM, a 160GB hard drive and, perhaps most notably, GeForce 8600 GT graphics. Of course, all that comes at the expense of an eight pound carrying weight, but if that's not too off-putting, you can grab one now for just under ¥200,000 (or roughly $1,700).

Japanese manufacturers DosPara and Faith have each introduced some pretty high-end build-to-order PCs this week, both packing Intel's new 2.93Ghz Core 2 Extreme QX6800 processor (or configurable with less if that's too much for ya). In addition to that speedy processor, DosPara's recommended configuration boasts a GeForce 8800 GTS graphics card, 2GB of RAM, a 750GB hard drive, and a DVD burner, among other goodies. Opting for Faith's system will give you the slightly beefier GeForce 8800 GTX graphics card as standard, along with 2GB of RAM and a 300GB hard drive. While prices will obviously vary quite a bit depending on the configuration, you can expect to easily blow between $3,000 and $5,000 if one of 'em strikes your fancy.Read - Akihabara News, DosPara's Core 2 Extreme QX6800 BTO PCRead - Akihabara News, Faith's version of BTO PC

Those DosPara kids have been pretty busy of late, and it doesn't look like they're slowing down their release schedule just yet. Today they're showing off a pair of new laptops, the Prime Note Helios DN and Prime Note Chronos IB. Helios (pictured) hogs the spec spotlight, with bragging rights to a Core 2 Duo T5500 pro, 1GB of RAM, 100GB SATA HDD, GeForce Go 7600 with 512MB of RAM, dual-layer DVD burning and a 2 megapixel webcam. On the fancy end, the laptop includes a 17-inch display running at 1680 x 1050, along with HDMI and eSATA ports for doing media tasks up right. Best of all, the $1,626-ish USD pricetag on this thing isn't at all hard to swallow for what you're getting. However, if that's still a bit too steep, you might dig the Chronos IB, which sports a 15.4-inch 1280 x 800 display, integrated graphics, and other various spec hits, but still manages some fancy stuff like ExpressCard/54 (which is featured in the Helios as well) and a webcam for its lovable $1,118-ish USD pricetag. The laptops weigh 8.7 and 6.1 pounds, respectively, and should both be hitting Japan on January 4th next year. Keep reading to spy the Chronos.[Via PCLaunches]

There's nothing like a PC wrapped in Apple's white clothing, and DosPara's latest ultraportable sports a glossy WXGA display, dual-core processor, and a decent pricetag to go along with the trendy white finish. While the company has unveiled a few larger offerings of late, this 12.1-inch gem features a 1.6GHz AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-50 CPU, 512MB to 2GB of DDR2 RAM, 80GB 5400RPM SATA hard drive, dual-layer DVD burner, an option for NVIDIA's GeForce Go 6100 graphics, three hours of battery life, and built-in 802.11b/g -- all in a knapsack-friendly four-pound package. On the sides, you'll find VGA out, a Kensington lock port, 4-pin FireWire, audio in / out, Ethernet, a 56k modem, and a trio of USB 2.0 connectors. Sans an operating system, the basic Prime A Note Cressida NB will run you ¥109,980 ($957), while tossing in Windows XP Home (with a discounted upgrade to Vista, mind you) will cost ¥121,980 ($1,061).[Via Akihabara News]

  • DosPara offers up mid-range Prime Note Chronos laptop, with or without OS

If you're interested in picking a svelte new Merom-powered lappie, but just aren't down with the traditional Windows XP approach that essentially every manufacturer in the world forces upon you, DosPara feels your pain. Hot on the heels of its 13-inch NW2 and 15.4-inch Prime Note Chronos NR2, the forthcoming (and yet-to-be-named) successor sports a typical black / silver enclosure and gives you the choice of having an operating system pre-installed or not. Beneath the hood lies a 1.66GHz Intel T5500 Core 2 Duo processor, 1GB of DDR2 RAM, a 100GB SATA hard drive, NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600 256MB graphics card, dual-layer DVD burner, built-in 802.11a/b/g, and a 4-in-1 flash card reader. Additionally, the unit boasts a WSXGA+ widescreen LCD and a bevy of ports including PCMCIA, 4-pin FireWire, VGA / S-Video output, Ethernet, 56k modem, audio in / out, and four USB 2.0 ports to boot. The 6.4-pound machine will reportedly only last "three hours" on a single charge, but it's not like we expected a gaming-centric laptop to carry you through the workday anyway. Nevertheless, the impending Chronos should be available soon for around €1,000 ($1,282).

  • DosPara's Prime Note Altair TB: a 14-inch laptop for low-end gaming

With a name like the Prime Note Altair TB, you'd think this new 14-incher would pack all kinds of swank. You'd be wrong, however, so wrong. This budget box is heading to DOSPARA shops in Japan courtesy of Third Wave Corp targeting the low-end gaming market, uh, if there is such a thing. As such, you get the yawntastic specs of a 1.3MHz Celeron M 350 proc, 40GB 5400RPM UltraATA disk, and DVD multi-drive coupled with a WXGA (1280x728) resolution on a glossy screen, up to 2GB of DDR2 RAM, and built-in ATI RADEON Xpress 200M graphics. Hell, it might just pull-off duty as your low-end, 5.3-pound portable gaming machine after all. And that low (for Japan) pre-order price of ¥87,580 or about $733 (sans OS) certainly helps the cause.[Via Impress]

Last time we saw Japanese PC manufacturer DosPara it was hawking its new small-footprint, Core 2 Duo-powered Super Mini 2 HTPC, and now the company has gone and crammed a Merom CPU into yet another tight space, the 13-inch Prime Note Chronos NW2. In its base configuration, this 4.2-pound notebook sports a 1.66GHz T5500 processor, 1,280 x 800 resolution, 512MB of RAM, an 80GB hard drive, multi-format DVD burner, three-flavor WiFi, and a 4-in-1 card reader. If you're willing to pay more than the ¥129,950 ($1,086) that this setup will run, another 20,000 yen ($167) will get you a 2.0GHz T7200 chip and a full 1GB of RAM. Both versions of the NW2 should be available immediately, but as usual with these machines, it's unlikely you'll find one at your local big box retailer anytime soon.[Via Akihabara News]

  • DosPara's Super Mini 2 -- take that, Apple

Many have tried, but few have conquered the Mac mini when it comes to keeping slim and looking fit. Lucky for us -- or at least our Japanese friends -- DosPara seems to have managed both feats, and they even tossed in some Core 2 Duo action in there, just to show off. We couldn't really ask for much better specs on this little 1.7-inch thick dynamo. Beyond the 1.66GHz T5500 C2D processor, the box runs a dual-layer DVD burner, gigabit Ethernet, 802.11a/b/g WiFi, a 4-in-1 card reader, DVI and S-Video outs, and a TV tuner on the WMCE version. The 512MB of ram and 80GB HDD aren't quite as exciting, but we'll live. Unfortunately, the price isn't so hot, at 122,580 Yen ($1,043 US) for the base version and 139,980 Yen ($1,191 US) for the WMCE unit. Still, we like what we see, and we think we'll have to wish Apple and AOpen better luck next time.[Via Akihabara]
