Someone recently leaked a clip from Doctor Who's latest season online, and now the BBC is asking California courts to help find the perpetrator. Why California? Because that's where Tapatalk, the message board app where the leaked footage was shared, is headquartered. BBC Studios said that it "will strive to protect our program-makers, audiences and license fee payers from any breaches of security -- ensure Doctor Who fans enjoy the final and fully completed version of the episode when it premieres."

Fans of our favorite Time Lord can get all timey-wimey with a VR reboot of Doctor Who Time Vortex 360, a web/mobile game that came out this past May. You can steer the TARDIS through various space obstacles, Rez-style, with Cardboard, Daydream, Gear VR and Vive via a web browser. The game is also available for Android and iOS on phones and tablets using mobile versions of Chrome, Firefox or Safari.

Fancy yourself a master of the Sonic Screwdriver? Well, in a few days you can put those skills to the test... in Minecraft, that is. Whether you're a timelord fanperson or a Dalek-sympathizer, you'll be able to show it off once the Doctor Who skin pack hits the Xbox 360 version of the pixely build-your-own-adventure on Friday. As if you needed another reason to look forward to this weekend, yeah? PlayXBLA (Microsoft's official blog for Xbox Live Arcade news) still doesn't mention any word of an Xbox One release, but considering that the company recently paid $2.5 billion for the game's developer, Mojang, we expect to hear it break the, ahem, silence on that soon.

  • 'Doctor Who' is coming to 'Minecraft' on Xbox 360 next month

Simply put, Doctor Who and Minecraft are two worldwide sensations, each extremely popular in their own entertainment category. Thus, it just kind of makes sense to bring the two together. Thankfully for those of you who are into both, Microsoft and the BBC have partnered up to do exactly that, by way of digital downloadable content for Minecraft on the Xbox 360. Starting next month, players will have access to character packs from Doctor Who, including skins of The Doctor himself, his companions and his mad enemies -- all from throughout the show's entire history, not only from most recent seasons. No word yet on if this also applies to the upcoming Xbox One edition of Minecraft, but it wouldn't surprise us if that was the case.

  • 1TB hard drive thrown into a toy TARDIS, gives us a proper Time Machine

It's common knowledge that the Doctor's time- and space-bending TARDIS is a lot roomier on the inside than its external dimensions let on, and now we can put a definite number to just how much space there is in there: a terabyte. Yup, that's how much storage Max Shanly managed to cram inside his "toy" TARDIS. It took a bit of elbow grease (plus a screwdriver) to get it all to fit, but most of the credit here is for sheer ingenuity -- who doesn't want to back up his data onto a freaking Time Lord's intertemporal transportation device? Max is currently working on hooking up the flashing light up top to represent hard drive activity and we're calling up our favorite KIRF suppliers to get them cranking these out. • BBC America HD launch July 20 brings plenty of science fiction starting with Torchwood & Dr. Who

After (in our opinion) a too long delay, BBC America is ready to launch its HD simulcast July 20, getting things kicked off with a load of science fiction programming for the summer. Torchwood: Children of Earth is scheduled as the first HD offering, with five consecutive nights of the new season to get things going before the season finale of Primeval shows its stuff in high definition along with the U.S. premiere of Being Human. That's all just a tease until the Sunday, July 26 U.S. premiere of Dr. Who: Planet of the Dead. Of course, in this day and age more than a few may have turned to the internet to catch quality UK television long before the programmes air here, but until iPlayer HD comes across the pond everyone else can look forward to getting their BBC re-airs in the quality they were intended - here's hoping for Top Gear HD next.Full press release and details are after the break.

Missed the Dr. Who holiday special? It, and other BBC programmes will be available as previously rumoured in high definition via BBC's iPlayer, now featuring new adaptive bitrate technology plus a new BBC iPlayer Desktop and a cross platform download manager for access under Windows, OS X and Linux. The only bad news? All that HD doesn't seem to extend to set-top boxes or the PS3 just yet, you'll have to try it out for yourself under boxee to find out if that works.

  • WoW Moviewatch: Dude, Where's My Mount? Episode 7

The Dude, Where's My Mount? series is one that has regrettably not been on Moviewatch often enough. Any kind of episodic series that puts this level of effort and consistency into its work should definitely be noted. We've covered one episode before, but hopefully we'll do a better job keeping up in the future. Episode 7 of DWMM has a kind of classic fantasy vs. real-life trope, wherein the authors of the series get confronted by their characters. I think it works for the laughs, though it'd probably help your appreciation if you were familiar with the series. The production values are spot on for this episode -- anything less would leave the interaction feeling like a waste of time, while more special effects would make the scenes feel forced and overworked. Also? The episode features a Dalek. That means it wins. If you have any suggestions for WoW Moviewatch, you can mail them to us at machinima AT wowinsider DOT com.Previously on Moviewatch ...

We've all heard that Macs retain their value for far longer than equivalent PCs, but who knew Apple keyboards would still be in use in the 51st century? On the most recent episode of Dr. Who, Silence in the Library (which hasn't aired yet in the US, so I haven't seen it myself) the good Doctor finds himself in the Library, which is a planet sized library, and he must help as only he can. Scattered across the Library are numerous Apple keyboards, as seen above. They don't look too shabby for being over 3000 years old. Thanks to everyone who sent this in!

  • What doctor is coming to the DS? [update 1]

We're completely aware that the doctor has been on the airwaves for quite some time, yet our only exposure to him has been through his latest show on Sci-Fi. As such, we feel that our excitement for a game starring the good doctor is completely unwarranted and utterly destroyed by fans who've been following his adventures for much longer. And while the only word on a game (which is supposedly due for release this holiday season) comes from the newest doctor's official website, where he states "Top Trumps have revealed their plans for a Doctor Who video game to be released in time for Christmas 2007. It is thought it will be available on PC, PS2, DS and Mobile," we do get to gawk at one piece of what we assume is concept art.Update: Turns out, that isn't concept art, but a cartoon that was shown on British television. Our bad, we have never been to the UK (sadly).[Via Game | Life]
