Right behind the Xbox and PS3 releases of Terraria, a PS Vita version ported by Engine Software will be released this summer. Details, like pricing and whether it will support Cross Save or Cross Buy with the PS3 version, have yet to be announced. For now, its existence is the thing. It will most certainly resemble Terraria more than the live-action video released alongside the announcement.

Last we heard, Terraria was targeting a late February or early March release on Xbox 360 and PS3. It looks like it'll be the latter at best now, according to publisher 505 Games."Our aim is to launch both [versions in] March," a 505 Games representative told Joystiq. If you've been twitchin' for some console-based shovelin', you'll probably have to wait just a bit longer than expected. Last month, 505 Games revealed Re-Logic's Terraria is coming to Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network, and today the publisher's unveiled a new trailer to seal the deal. Moreover, right at the end the video teases new content for the console versions, but doesn't detail what it is.

Re-Logic's blockbuster RPG Terraria is coming to Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network from publisher 505 Games. 505 also announced the digger/builder/action-adventure's sold 1.6 million copies on PC, and that Dutch developer Engine Software is handling the upcoming conversion"I can't say how excited I am to finally have Terraria come to Xbox 360 and PlayStation3," said Andrew Spinks, the creator of Terraria, "To see it come so far is a complete shock, especially after such humble beginnings. It's always been my dream to have as many people as possible know and enjoy Terraria as much as I have, and this is another big step in that direction."The news of a console release of the 2011 indie game was first disclosed on its Facebook page, after teasing fans yesterday with word of a big reveal. The game comes to XBLA and PSN early next year.

  • FMV light gun game Mad Dog McCree coming to 3DS

Engine Software is porting the classic arcade laserdisc game Mad Dog McCree to 3DS, for release on eShop. That merits at least a reserved "Yee-haw." Engine's VP of development Ruud van de Moosdijk told Nintendo World Report that the downloadable six-shooter shooter will be released "very soon." Engine tracked down publisher Digital Leisure and asked for the rights to create a 3DS version. You might be thinking that it seems prohibitively expensive to remaster a random arcade game like that, full of real recorded video, in 3D. You're probably right. Whatever the reason, Engine is opting not to use stereoscopic 3D for the port. " "There's really no 3D in the 3DS version," van de Moosdijk said, "because how were you gonna do that?"

Meanwhile, in the Netherlands... Engine Software has developed a hitherto yet undisclosed method of motion sensitivity for the Nintendo DSi (which we're guessing utilizes the camera). That got your attention, right? Well, wait'll you get a load of this: the company has been kind enough to try the thing out on a game of Tilt -- on video. According to our friends at Joystiq, the company's currently working on a DSiWare title that incorporates the technique. See for yourself after the break.

Netherlands-based handheld gaming studio Engine Software has developed a cool new piece of tech for the DSi: motion sensitivity. To show off this breakthrough, the company has developed a brief demo video of TILT, a kind of Marble Blast Ultra clone where the player guides a ball around the gameworld by tilting the DSi. It's not the first we've heard of this kinda tech, and it won't be the last. Engine Software isn't stopping with just this tech demo, however. The company is currently working on a full DSiWare game that will incorporate this new technology; though it likely won't be a full version of TILT, but rather an entirely new game. Head past the break to check out a brief video showcasing the tech.

  • Rummikub: tile-based technology

The Germans like it, and that's the most important thing. Rummikub has been around for decades, and won the 1990 Spiel des Jahres award. That's enough for a sale right here! The classic tile-based number game is coming to the DS from Engine Software. Plenty of traditional table and board games have made it to the DS, so there should be room for just one more little title! Rummikub is vaguely scheduled for a Q4 2008 release date, but we're expecting screens and updated information to surface very shortly. In the meantime, you can probably pick up an original set and give it a try with friends in RL. This experience will feature a durable cardboard box to prevent scattering of pieces, a table surface made of genuine wood or water-resistant plastic, and real-time wireless conversation with up to three friends. You don't want to provide the snacks for more than that amount of people.[Via press release]

  • WiiWare launching in March, according to developer

Nintendo has kept awfully quiet about their upcoming WiiWare service, but third-party developer Engine Software seems to have no problem going on record with the launch date. According to Engine, the service is scheduled to launch this March, GamesIndustry.biz reports. Engine Software, who acquired a Wii Developer's License this past October, is currently working on a casual title for release on WiiWare. Entitled Project Bang, the game uses the Wii remote functionality and features one or two-player gameplay. It's a bit bizarre to have a developer so flippantly reveal the launch date of a platform, so we'll wait for word from Nintendo before calling this thing official.

  • Project Bang! announced to hit Wii Ware [update]

Aside from regular updates on The Young King and the Promised Land, we haven't heard much about Wii Ware titles lately. Netherlands-based developer Engine Software, however, broke the silence by announcing a new game for the service. Temporarily titled Project Bang!, we don't know much about the game, but we do know it will support motion controls and include a two-player battle mode. Engine Software is the developer that coded the DS version of Puzzle Quest, which can be a good or bad thing. Puzzle Quest is one of the most addicting games for the DS to date, but the game was very buggy. Since the company was hired by developer 1st Software to work on the game (in other words, they didn't come up with the concept for Puzzle Quest, just the coding), Engine Software was at least partly responsible for those glitches. That doesn't mean this new Wii Ware title will have the same problems, of course, but it's worth noting. Since we have no idea what kind of game Project Bang! is, we hope to see some more details emerge soon.[Update: The press release states that Wii Ware is scheduled to launch in March 2008. We haven't heard anything tangible from Nintendo yet as far as a launch date for the service in the US, so is this a possible slip up on Engine Software's part, or are they referring to the Japanese launch? Probably the latter, but we'll keep you updated as we hear more.][Via press release]

  • StateShift announced for Europe

DCEmu has the press release for a new PSP game titled StateShift. An original sci-fi racer being developed by Engine Software and development is almost complete. Set in a not-too-distant future where illegal racing takes place on future Earth, a place of economic instability and depleted resources. StateShift features various single player modes like a career mode and ad-Hoc multiplayer. The CEO of Engine Software had this to say of StateShift; "The development of StateShift has been highly productive and a great experience for the team and myself here at Engine Software. Now we are close to completion, I am personally very happy to announce the partnership with Midas Interactive Ltd and anticipate hugely successful release of StateShift into the European market." The press release made no mention of StateShift being released outside Europe, but considering that the PSP can play games from other regions, it likely won't matter to those interested in the game. On a side note, what is going on with the game logo? It looks like "SD", but the game clearly is not called StateDiff, so I can't really make sense of it. Hopefully the logo isn't indicative of the quality of the title.
