Though it already broke cover at IFA out in Germany a few days ago, LG's just sealed the deal on its very first Android phone -- the GW620 landscape QWERTY slider. Interestingly, the "Etna" name seen at IFA is missing from the official press release, but otherwise, the 3-inch touchscreen mentioned lines up nicely with what we'd previously known. Camera specs aren't mentioned here, but as far as we know, it's going to clock in at 5 megapixels and the phone looks to be loaded with a very bone-stock Android build sans LG-specific enhancements like an S-Class port. Interestingly, the GW620 flies in the face of LG's super-cozy relationship with Microsoft and its commitment to concentrate on WinMo in its smartphone line, but you can tell that the company's wording in the release is very carefully-chosen: the phone is geared at "making the smartphone experience more accessible for typical users" and "young professionals who demand a full QWERTY keypad," which we guess makes WinMo a more business-savvy platform in LG's eyes. We think we're comfortable with that characterization -- for now, anyway. Look for the GW620 to start showing up in "select European markets" in the fourth quarter of the year.

Well, well, looks like LG's got more in its Android bag than just that GW880 for China Mobile. Vodafone was casually displaying the Android-based Etna at its IFA booth, and while we don't know too much about the QWERTY slider, we do have some basic specs -- you're looking at 3-inch touchscreen, a five megapixel camera, and what looks like a pretty stock Android install. No word on price or release date, but LG is supposedly launching three Android sets this year, so we're hoping we'll find out more real soon.Update: LG tells us that the Etna will be available in Germany "before Christmas."[Via MobileTechWorld; thanks Whois]

  • AT&T's Samsung Shift and LG Etna put through their paces

The KS360 has proven to be one of LG's more hype-attracting devices of the past few months, and AT&T's taken notice -- so much so, in fact, that it's bringing the lil' texter on home. LetsTalk.com has posted previews of the AT&T version of the KS360 -- the GT365 Etna -- along with the Samsung Shift, proving that neither AT&T nor its manufacturer partners have any intention of turning away from the low-cost messaging trend any time soon. The Etna looks like the more interesting of the two, largely on account of its touchscreen dialing capability and slide-out keyboard -- but the Shift should find an audience, too, particularly among Bold wannabes who don't have a need for corporate street cred. Follow the break for the vids.[Thanks, Fernando]

Do you want to share your PSP-related fan art? Send us an e-mail. A new piece of fan art will be shared every Friday. This weeks Fan Art Friday submission is so sexy that I'm going to play strip poker with it.. This submission comes from Yuji 28 Go and depicts characters from one of my all-time favorite games: Disgaea. Since we know Disgaea is coming to the PSP in the US at some point, this fan art seemd incredibly appropriate. The above image depicts Etna and one of her Prinnies. The image is even more impressive when you consider it was made on an Oekaki board. If you like the above image why don't you check out Yuji's Deviant Art account and let him know what you think or just leave feedback in the comments section. Don't forget that next week I'd like to showcase one or more fan made versions of PSP-tan, so send in your art before next week. %Gallery-3450%
