Dan has summoned the team together to deliver some important news, so we have a full house today. With 65 episodes under the belt, the Eurocast is joining the likes of the HD podcast and taking a hiatus. We're restructuring how we deliver news outside the website proper and as they say, "when it's time to change, you've got to rearrange." For now, however, it's time to turn those dewy eyes to Google-y eyes. This week's Google I/O developer conference brought forth a litany of software announcements including a new design language, auto-focused software, the Android Wear platform and support for budget handsets. While Android One is planning to power smartphones for economically minded devices, Google also delivered a corrugated solution to costly VR technology -- you can even make one at home. What does this all mean for you? Our crack team of technology addicts experts dig into the details to make it all crystal clear. Please join us at the streaming links below as we talk tech news one last time and raise our glasses to you, our listeners. Stay tuned, though, you might hear from us again sooner than you think. Dan goes freestyle this week in order to liven up the joint, boost morale and woo another age bracket of listenership, perhaps. His wild stylings are nothing compared to the crew's speculation about Amazon's upcoming mobile device and its interesting array of sensor technology. While that may be shrouded in mystery, Samsung has finally launched a series of Tizen-based smartphones and TVs to join its series of wearables with the OS. Plus we review Apple's recent WWDC announcements and discuss the company's developer-centric approach. All this and more is jammed into this week's episode of the Eurocast, so settle in with your favorite cuppa, put your feet up and let the pulsing rhythm of tech news feed your brain. We're broadcasting from San Francisco this week and joined by TUAW editor-in-chief Victor Agreda Jr. and Engadget's own Sarah Silbert to talk Beats acquihire rumors and the "lapability" of the Surface Pro 3. Dan tried to get Plan B to join the show, but, well... it is 2014. We've got all the details about Microsoft's newest slate-top and some insight as to how it fares as a daily driver. James shares some info about Samsung's latest foray into tangential gadgets: a VR rig tailored specifically for mobile devices that's being fast-tracked to beat out the competition. There's also been some action in the EE camp leading to another round of avian-inspired gear that's priced to move, although Jamie's going to wait for the LTE Moto G. It's a great bit of banter to soak up, so kick back and get ready for this week's Engadget Eurocast! Dan's getting forgetful and Sharif is squeezing in mini holidays between cloud banks, but Matt champions the concept of news, so off we go. There's the often turbulent tale of Virgin Media and Sky, and yet they've managed to extend a truce that will continue to benefit customers, while still earning the companies a pretty penny. Another smart business move that's giving customers a treat is npower's deal to fold in Nest thermostats and installation along with its utility service. The lads then dive deep into the mobile situation with Motorola's Moto E, HTC's ungainly named One Mini 2 and a retail merger/mashup. So, please join us for this week's Doo Da Eurocast and a healthy helping of tech for hungry minds. Belly up, it's chow time. It's barbecue time in the UK, the sun is shining (for the moment) and things are right in the world. Unless, of course, you happen to be Nintendo. The crew looks at the state of Nintendo's financials and recent missteps in handling certain interactions of its Mii-based Tomodachi LIfe characters. While things keep getting complicated for Mario's makers, easyJet looks towards streamlining its engineers' workflow by employing drones to help speed up the fleet inspection process. China's Huawei is also launching its new Ascend P7, and aside from the bumpy Android ride, it looks to be headed in the right direction for such a nascent smartphone maker. So get some ribs on the grill and let 'em smoke, while we deliver up some tasty tech tidbits to chew on. Join us at the streaming links below for this edition of the Engadget Eurocast! Matt's been steeped in old timey video over the past few days and it seems to have affected Dan's state of mind and podcast introduction. Once the anachronistic antics subside, the lads dig into the plausibility and potential for Google's Project Ara, a modular smartphone design that still has yet to prove its salt in the real world. On the mobile software side of things, BBC's iPlayer has finally embraced Android wholeheartedly and also wants to get viewers into a binging mood. Sky is also keen to get people consuming more content, but it's struggling with how to communicate its bundled packages to the masses. If you're looking for clarity of voice and intelligent banter, however, then you've probably come to the right place. Just pop on down to the streaming links below and you'll be whisked away into the wonderful world of the Engadget Eurocast. Enjoy! Big changes have been brewing for the Eurocast crew in the fortnight they've been away. Engadget UK has officially launched, providing a home base for all things British and eliminating all the rubbish that has no business being telegraphed across the pond. On that note, there's news about Sky's Now TV box and its brilliant ability to morph into a media streamer. Beyond that, however, there's global headlines to address, including details on the Heartbleed security flaw and Twitter's online makeover. Jamie also gets a chance to flaunt his international style and ability to sidestep stereotypes with ease. As to last week's missing podcast, we've managed to pull something together and stitched it to the end of this week's episode as a little treat. We're sorry we weren't there for you on April 1st when you needed us, but that's just the way the cookie biscuit crumbles. So head on down to the streaming links below for a double dose of the Engadget Eurocast, brought to you by lads in Savile Row's bespoke best and football jerseys (we can only assume). We've got our game faces on, but you can't see them because you're strapped into your Oculus Rift. That's all well and good because we're doing a deep dive into Facebook's recent purchase deal for Oculus VR. The social network laid down $2 billion to buy this nascent, yet popular VR hardware company and the responses are definitely mixed. Additionally, the Eurocast crew discuss HTC's new One (M8) smartphone and surprisingly none of them ended up using "mate" as a stand-in for M8. Both of these hot news stories have lots of little nooks and crannies worth exploring, and that's what you'll get in this edition of the Engadget Eurocast. The Eurocast is back after a brief hiatus and this week's festivities are hosted by Matt Brian and Steve Dent. Google's just announced its Android Wear platform and that means a slew of new wearables will be hitting the scene, possibly by the end of this year. Chromecast has also officially touched down in the UK, which means regular consumers can now get Google's low-cost, diminutive dongle and catch up to those early adopters. Not to be left out, Apple's made a more affordable option of its iPhone 5c available, with a discounted 8GB version for European and Chinese markets. All the details on these and other topics are under the microscope for this episode of the Engadget Eurocast. Hosts: Matt Brian, Steve Dent Producer: Jon Turi Hear the Podcast:

Ah, the joys of innocence. Jamie didn't know there was a Lego Movie, but Dan is here to fill him in on the details and deliver his thoughts on how it's the antithesis of Toy Story's rigid plot. The conversation then turns to Amazon's rebranding of Lovefilm in the UK and its plans to bolster its streaming library and revive Ripper Street, a Victorian-era cop show. Then there's the tangled web of intrigue and black-market banking called Bitcoin to try and hash out. It's a hefty task, but the crew is ready to attack the issues head on. Jamie, always the rebel, actually prefers the overpriced petrol station one on his corner. Amidst the other topics under discussion this week, one question stands out: Got wood? If you're a Moto X fan in the UK, the answer will most certainly be no -- at least not on your phone anytime soon. The Engadget Eurocast team is obviously delirious on eggnog, as they've chosen to spend a good portion of their Christmas day together nestled in Snuggies and sitting around a warm fire to bring you this special holiday podcast. Your host Daniel Cooper gets things rolling with a specially crafted, year-in-review tech quiz that elicits both insightful chatter and raucous tangents. It's game on for Jamie who aims to win all the quiz points and that's fine with Matt as his Avengers sticker book is all he needs this holiday. Steve will probably just spend the rest of the day on his Xbox One and Dan will be trading his Snuggie for a toolbelt, as he's in for a bit of D.I.Y. It's a warm and inviting chat, and we hope that you'll be able to stop by. Grab your eggnog (it's BYOE) and head on down to the streaming links below for this episode of the Engadget Eurocast! While the overall state of news has been sparse, the ever-vigilant Daniel Cooper and his co-hosts have managed to find some choice topics to chew the fat over this week. Sharif delivers his first-person perspective of the e-inked, dual-screen YotaPhone and Matt drops some science on the discount tablet scene. The cherry on top of this news sundae, though, is Google's recent acquisition of the robot-centric Boston Dynamics. Hopefully the Doctor will be around if we get overrun by Cybermen again this holiday. But what's really in question is whether or not Sharif will enjoy Better Call Saul if Breaking Bad didn't do it for him. All of these important topics are up for careful consideration on this week's edition of the Engadget Eurocast. Hosts: Dan Cooper, Matt Brian, Sharif Sakr Producer: Jon Turi Hear the Podcast:

The Eurocast crew, led by the fearless Daniel Cooper, divine the spirit of HD this week as they discuss HBO's deal with Google in the UK and the merits of today's "golden age of television." While the country sees some new shows, its nearly century old paper car tax is being shown the door, and it's not the only thing on the way out. The HTC Mini is now banned in the UK due to a patent ruling in favor of Nokia and both Steve Dent and Matt Brian mourn the loss of this quality handset. It's not all a downer this week, however, as Three UK subscribers finally gain a leg up in spots around the globe, with normally priced service being extended to various international locations. Want to enjoy a bit of international flavor without leaving your couch? You're in luck, because there are at least two different accents to enjoy in this week's edition of the Engadget Eurocast.
