According to Team Xbox, there's a nasty glitch bogging down players in Fight Night Round 4. This glitch causes the game to suddenly freeze, forcing players to actually get up and turn off their Xbox consoles. Wait, get up? That's crazy talk!Supposedly, this is an issue tied to certain files and the HDD, though there isn't any explanation beyond that. And what makes this so surprising is that the game's demo had a few glitches, including a freezing glitch just like this one. We've put in word to EA to get to the bottom of this issue and will be sure to get back to you with what we find.

Pizza Hut and EA are offering up 10 Fight Night Round 4 consoles (pictured, well, 1 of 10 is featured) and 200 copies of the game as part of the Rumble in the Ring sweepstakes. Oh yeah, there's also a trip for two to Vegas to see a championship fight live ... but let's focus on the things you actually have a chance at winning. The sweepstakes works by going to the contest website and entering your email address. We can't tell you what happens past that point because we're scared to death of anything that starts by asking us for our email address. Participants can enter once per day, so check it out. We recommend making a spammable email address first.[Via Kotaku]

Even if you were trine to keep up, it was a blur -- staying a.wake like that, you only pushed yourself to the brink of your own dark void. We've scoured the dark corners and survived the inferno to piece together this roundup of all things Xbox at E3. Why? Just 'cause we love you. So, draw nier and shift your eyes past the break.

Click for jaw-shattering size We honestly can't decide which is uglier: Ricky Hatton's mangled face in real life, or his rearranged digital visage after a few pummels. See, that's Hatton's incredibly life-like render in EA's Fight Night Round 4 right there, pictured to the left getting his jaw jammed out like a typewriter carriage. Although you can't see the swift movement that went into that jab, Fight Night's dev team says you'll certainly feel it once you've finally got the controller in your hands. Believe the hype? Check out the video after the break to see some of the improvements made to Round 4 and decide for yourself.%Gallery-63979%

  • Fight Night Round 4 demo tied to pre-order in UK

Those who pre-order Fight Night Round 4 at UK retailer GameStation will get to bone up on the sweet science a bit early when they're exclusively admitted to the demo on May 14. We're not sure when commoners will get their hands on it, but the game launches in the UK on Xbox 360 and PS3 on June 26, so let's hope it's before that. What we don't know is if a similar program will be implemented stateside. Last we heard the demo was due in mid-May, but now we're unsure if that means with or without a pre-order. We've put a line in to EA and will let you know what we hear.

    05.08.2009

It's a rare thing these days for us to get sucked in by just watching people play a game, but we did just that for 12 rounds of Fight Night Round 4 yesterday as two EA employees whaled on each other (don't worry, it's in the game). We were so enthralled by the visuals and motion that we nearly missed them offering us the chance to play ... nearly. The next bout was between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier -- of course, we went with Ali. He's the greatest, you know. Read on to find out how the match went and how Fight Night Round 4 beats its pugilistic predecessor.%Gallery-47652%

  • Fight Night Round 4 trailer looks at the styles behind The Sweet Science

EA Sports keeps the trailer train running with the latest look at Fight Night Round 4. In the trailer above, producer Brian Hayes takes us through the many styles available in the game's fourth installment, as well as how a boxer effectively employs each style in the ring. Hayes points out the lack of variety in Fight Night Round 3, making sure to show how improved this is in the new game, and based on the footage above, we'd say that EA has improved upon its predecessor by leaps and bounds ... and maybe an uppercut or two.

As revealed on the EA Sports forums, the latest issue of PlayStation: The Official Magazine spills the beans er, whatever's in a punching bag on the complete roster of fighters that will be featured in Fight Night Round 4. The list is comprised of 50 pugilists in total, with the magazine commenting that more could potentially be added via DLC. Wait a second ... no Burger King? As much as it saddens us, he's not on the complete roster, which you'll find conveniently situated after the break.[Via XboxInsider]

Click image to pummel your eyes with screenshots Some fresh screens from Fight Night Round 4 have made their way into the ring and, as one might expect, they're chock full of punching dudes (and a few dudes getting punched). Based on everything we've seen so far, we'd say Fight Night Round 4 has a real shot at the title, through a combination of some solid physics and the controls established in previous entries (though, there's always room for improvement). We'll find out if it's the real deal this summer, when it releases on the Xbox 360 and PS3. In the meanwhile, bob and weave your way into our gallery below to check out the new shots.%Gallery-51203%

  • Fight Night Round 4 demo coming mid-May, recreates Pacquiao vs. Hatton fight

    04.17.2009

Our knowledge of The Sweet Science is comparable to our comprehension of high velocity particle collision and basic algebra -- that is to say, it is limited. However, we're certain that the announcement on last night's episode of GameTrailers TV that the Fight Night Round 4 demo (set to launch sometime mid-May) will recreate the blockbuster May 2 match between Ricky Hatton and Manny "Pac-Man" Pacquiao is good news indeed. Why are we so sure? Well, based off of what we've gleaned from the five minutes of Googling we've just performed, the Hatton vs. Pacquiano fight is promised to contain no small amount of punching. We're pretty sure that'll translate really well into a punching-centric gaming experience.[Thanks, Tim!]

A new video for Fight Night Round 4 is available for your viewing pleasure. In it, producer Brian Hayes talks about what changes players can expect from Round 3 to Round 4 with respect to the game's physics. He explains that in the first game, there was an invisible wall keeping the two boxers separated, which is not the case in Round 4. The next installment will feature improved collision detection and less clipping, which is something Hayes hopes allows for more realistic punching people in the face and/or body.If you're not content with the video, punch your way into our gallery below, which is full of new screens. %Gallery-49998%

EA just hit us with a hook across our face place in the form of the new Fight Night Round 4 trailer you see above. In this latest trailer, the sports giant shows off a couple of the features that boxing fans will likely enjoy in the new game, namely the dynamic blood, sweat and tears, as well as the true inside fighting and glancing blows. Basically, it looks like the new game will have some improved controls and gameplay, which is surprising considering that both of those things were pretty top-notch in the previous Fight Night game.%Gallery-47652%

Do the shots look good? Just as good as when we saw the game in action earlier this month. With Fight Night Round 4 still months away from any formal release (the game's slated to come out swinging "this summer"), we suggest you check out the trailer in the meantime. • Fight Night Round 4: (Most of) the Heavyweight roster

With EA returning to the big dance -- following a disappointing bout with cartoon combatants -- the question on everyone's mind was who would be coming to ring in Fight Night Round 4. Slowly feeding our interest in the sweet science, EA Sports has revealed all heavyweight combatants -- save for one, due to be revealed in the upcoming weeks.Who will the final "master of the sweet science" be? Online debates rage on, pointing to Fight Night veteran Rocky Marciano or "Gentleman of Boxing" Floyd Patterson -- although both might be considered Light Heavyweights in today's rulebook. While EA stays tight-lipped about the final pugilist, we're going to patiently stare at the current heavyweight roster -- which you can read about and watch after the break. Joystiq impressions: Fight Night Round 4

    by

    03.13.2009

click to enlarge Just seeing Fight Night Round 4 in action, it's a knockout. Yesterday we had the chance to watch Tyson vs. Ali coming to blows in the latest build of the game, which is due in final form this June. There's no saying how it plays, but we did take away some details on how it will differ from -- and improve on -- Round 3.There's obviously been a dramatic visual improvement, which is made even more impressive when you consider the game is running on the same generation of hardware as its predecessor. EA has gone to great lengths to ensure "no punch looks exactly the same," using procedural techniques to send sweat (and blood) flying in the right directions -- the former tuning to mist and slowly dissipating in the air. Through slowed-down instant replays, we were able to watch as the boxers' musculature flexed under their skin, which itself ripples when hit thanks to a complex variant of cloth simulation. %Gallery-47652%

IGN has uploaded a new gameplay trailer for the recently announced Fight Night Round 4 and it's pretty much full of what you'd expect: sweaty men getting their punch on. The cover's boxers, Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson, are featured in the video past the break and, well, we won't spoil who wins. Actually, we're lying: we couldn't if we wanted to. This one's a cliffhanger.

There will be plenty of butterfly floating and bee stinging in the ring this summer, as EA announced that Muhammad Ali will be one of two cover athletes for Fight Night Round 4. The boxing legend will share the space with powerhouse and controversy magnet Mike Tyson. We just hope Ali knows to duck out of the way should Tyson's eyes flash red before schooling "Iron Mike" in a lesson of sweet science. Both will be playable in the upcoming title, which is currently in development at EA Canada. Also, eager players who lay down a pre-order for Fight Night Round 4 at GameStop will net early access to the game's demo, giving them some extra time to live out pugilistic dreams before the rest of the world laces up.

True to our word, we've returned with the second string of Video Game Award 2008 videos -- the "B" squad, if you will. It's not that these clips aren't exciting, they're just ... less so. Right after the break check out Dante's Inferno, Watchmen, Terminator Salvation, Mafia II and Fight Night Round 4. So, what's the verdict? Do these clips have you pumped for 2009? Or are you holding out judgment until you can see a little more gameplay and fewer cinematics?
