Mafioso Swing was the first place runner-up for the BlizzCon 2010 machinima contest. This video by Firebolt Productions is a musical introduction to the goblin race and the many entrepreneurial ways they'll be helping out the Horde. If I weren't already completely sold on how awesome goblins are going to be, this video would finish the job. Mafioso Swing is beautiful, well written and even better performed. This is one video that's going into my rotational deck to check out periodically because I just can't get over how much fun it is. FireboltPro has really stepped up the bar with this video and it's more than worth the time to check it out. Click here to check it out. Interested in the wide world of machinima? Like yesterday's video, we actually first covered Northrend Wonderland a year ago. Created by Firebolt Productions, Northrend Wonderland is a musical take on the ongoing Icecrown drama. I think it's especially meaningful, since we're all storming the Icecrown Citadel. (I'm pretty sure Arthas has had a few extra visitors today, with everyone off work.) I admit. I was forced to shed a manly tear at the reference to Bolvar Fordragon. That just never stops being too soon, you know? I think the singing abominations are probably my favorite part. While I'm not sure I'd want them to show up at my door on their caroling route, they still make me smile. Here's hoping you're all having a good day! Interested in the wide world of machinima? I've been looking forward to this one for quite some time. Firebolt Productions has released the promotional trailer for their upcoming film, Unbroken. It is a movie about a group of Draenei refugees hiding from the barbarous Orc invaders. While I know the Orcs were the original inhabitants of Draenor, I can't wait to see how the rich tapestry of lore is going to play out in the movie. It's nothing short of legendary to see the cast of folks involved in "Unbroken." Selserene, the Hackleman brothers, and Matt Greenberg, just to name a few. With this kind of talent all operating under one roof, I have to expect greatness from the movie. The preview trailer is gorgeous. The opening lines in the voiceover promise a heartrending story. The animation is just beautiful. The landscapes of Outland reveal an alien but thriving world. The brief character shots and profiles all look like Firebolt spent an immense effort to choose the best models possible for their actors. It's a trailer, so it's hard to say how compelling the final dialogue will be. But everything about this trailer tells me Unbroken is going to be awesome. If you have any suggestions for WoW Moviewatch, you can mail them to us at machinima AT wowinsider DOT com.Previously on Moviewatch ..

Holy moly, Firebolt Productions just keeps coming at us with high quality films! We only recently just saw them win fourth place in the WeGame contest and now they've already got a teaser out for another film. Johan Vagstedt says that Firebolt is apparently in the process of making a "huge machinima project" called Unbroken and today's feature, called Unbroken - Prelude, is the teaser for it which they've entered into the BlizzCon movie contest. This film follows a council of Orcs led by the "very special" Gul'dan, set a short time after after the Dark Portal was opened by Ner'zhul, trying to decide if they will join the Burning Legion. Later in the film, we also see a glimpse of the Draenei side of the story. This film is, quite frankly, one of the most highly-polished pieces of machinima I've ever seen -- from the lighting to the camera angles to even the facial expressions. I highly, HIGHLY recommend -- no, I demand -- that you download the full version of this movie from Filefront -- it's simply incredible. I can't wait for the full version![Via WarcraftMovies]If you have any suggestions for WoW Moviewatch, you can mail them to us at machinima AT wowinsider DOT com.Previously on Moviewatch ...

The winners of the WeGame machinima contest were finally announced last night. Of course, I blogged about all three top World of Warcraft entries already. Pinkhair's The Robber Baron of Warsong Gulch took first place, Martin Falch's Divided Soul took third, and Firebolt Production's The Way of Life took fourth. Congratulations to everyone!Since the winners were already discussed, I'd like to show off some of the Honorable Mentions. Today's video comes from Mike "Spiff" Booth, otherwise known as the guy that makes Jonathan Coulton music video machinimas. It may surprise you to know that the soundtrack to Live is by Paul and Storm, though! If you have any suggestions for WoW Moviewatch, you can mail them to us at machinima AT wowinsider DOT com.Previously on Moviewatch ...

Nathan Allen Pinard is known mainly as the composer for projects by Oxhorn, but you may not know that he agreed to let entrants for the WeGame machinima contest use some of his work for their submissions. However, Firebolt Productions, the award winning creators of Acolyte 1.5 and Ugly Goblin's Christmas, went above and beyond that by getting a custom soundtrack by Nathan. The composer was so proud of his score that he sent in the link if you want to listen to it by itself! The Way of Life is another top contender for the contest. The story revolves around a man, Thord, sent to Northrend at a young age at the same time as Arthas Menethil. Instead of emerging a hero, he is resigned to a life of misery at a post in Menethil Harbour. However, one day he'll meet a young man, Caldor, that will change his outlook on life. Clearly in this contest to win, Firebolt pulled out all the stops with sound design by Caruu and a voiceover by Drewbie! He also used CrazyTalk, by Reallusion, for lip-synching. As a longtime fan of the program, it's about time that the World of Warcraft machinimators embraced it![Thanks, Nathan!]If you have any suggestions for WoW Moviewatch, you can mail them to us at machinima AT wowinsider DOT com.Previously on Moviewatch ...

What is it about Darrowshire and stunning machinima? This is the second video in about a month to come of the Eastern Plaguelands quest line. Last month, we featured the work of Cranius and his musical talents. Now we're pleased to feature a star-studded film by Firebolt Productions, Acolyte 1.5. You may recognize them from their second place win in the Warcraftmovies Christmas Spirit Contest, Ugly Goblin's Christmas.Acolyte 1.5 is not without faults, as it feels like half of the video has ads for websites. However, what we are finally presented with is an engaging storyline full of action and excitement. Don't miss the voice acting by Clint Hackleman, Drewbie, and Olibith, as well as the musical composition by Nathan Allen Pinard![Via Warcraftmovies.com]If you have any suggestions for WoW Moviewatch, you can mail them to us at machinima AT wowinsider DOT com.Previously on Moviewatch ...

Whether you're a World of Warcraft player, or merely a machinima enthusiast, you'll enjoy Acolyte 1.5. The film is based on a quest in the Eastern Plaguelands, where a young girl, Pamela, is wandering the land looking for her family. Firebolt productions, previously known for their second place win in the Warcraftmovies Christmas Spirit Contest for Ugly Goblin's Christmas, did an amazing job adapting the quest into a stunning storyline. Even the cast and crew lineup is impressive![Via Warcraftmovies.com]If you have machinima or movie suggestions from any MMO, please send them to machinima AT massively DOT com, along with any information you might have about them.

Today brings us the second place winner of the Warcraftmovies Christmas Spirit Contest, Ugly Goblin's Christmas. Firebolt Productions, inspired by the classic book, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, have weaved a tale that warmed my heart. With the quality editing and excellent soundtrack, they were able to make the story its own, despite not being an original idea.Kryll is a lonely goblin, holed up in a mountain where no one will bother him, or so he thinks. When the children of the village decide to harass him, he sets a plan in motion that will shock and destroy the townsfolk. However, the Christmas spirit finally takes hold of him and he only has a few precious moments to save the town. Will he be able to do it?[Via Warcraftmovies.com]Previously on Moviewatch...

Yesterday, we highlighted the 3rd place winner in the Warcraftmovies Christmas Spirit Machinima Contest. Today brings us the 2nd place entry, Ugly Goblin's Christmas. It is a World of Warcraft spin on an old classic, How the Grinch Stole Christmas. While the story may not be original, with the help of an original soundtrack and strong editing, it is still quite moving.Firebolt Productions tells the tale of a lonely goblin, Kryll, who is the subject of mockery among the town's children. To exact his revenge, he plants an evil gift under the town Christmas tree. However, at the last minute, he has a change of heart. Will he get there in time? How will he be treated?[Via Warcraftmovies.com]
