The game best described as a "bear fighter," Fist of Awesome, is now available on PC and Mac. The game is currently discounted on the Humble Store to $3.99 (originally $7.99). Fist of Awesome is a beat-em-up in which players assume the role of a time-traveling lumberjack that must "punch bears to save humanity." Developer I Fight Bears is seeking community approval via Greenlight to bring the game to Steam. It launched on Ouya, iOS and Android in October following a successful Kickstarter campaign that raised £11,808 ($19,919) in December 2012. The UK-based developer was founded by Nicoll Hunt, a former Realtime Worlds (Crackdown) developer that also worked on Hard Lines for iOS. [Image: I Fight Bears]

Super World Karts GP, a 16-bit-style kart racing game from One Legged Seagull, will include a cameo from Tim Burr, the time-traveling lumberjack that stars in another indie game, Fist of Awesome. The news comes from an update on Super World Karts GP's Kickstarter page, which announced the crossover with Fist of Awesome developer I Fight Bears. The game boasts SNES-like, mode 7-style kart racing, bearing strong resemblance to Nintendo's Super Mario Kart, down to its name. Super World Karts GP is in development for PC, Mac, Linux, iOS, Android and Ouya, and is a part of Ouya's revised Free the Games Fund. As for Tim Burr, the lumberjack-turned-kart racer will be an unlockable character, available to use "once you've gotten a few tournament cups under your belt." Tim Burr joins three other unlockable crossover characters: Dr. Boom from Tuesday Knight Games, Turing from Read Only Memories and Lobodestroyo's Mutt. Read Only Memories recently found success on Kickstarter, and also participated in Ouya's Free the Games Fund. Super World Karts GP is seeking $16,000 AUS ($14,348.80 USD) by Monday, December 23 on Kickstarter to bring its brand of retro-style kart racing to players, of which the project has currently raised $7,536 AUS ($6758.28 USD).

Fist of Awesome is now available on iOS, Android, and Ouya, allowing you to punch bears on a variety of platforms. The eccentric beat-em-up is priced $4 on the App Store and Google Play. A GameStick version is also due, while extended versions featuring local multiplayer are bearing down on PC and Mac this winter. The games comes courtesy of Nicoll Hunt, an ex-Realtime Worlds dev who also previously worked on iOS hit Hard Lines. Hunt's Kickstarter for Fist of Awesome was a big success last year, earning over double its £5,000 goal. Then again, a retro beat-em-up starring a time-traveling lumberjack who uppercuts bear-jaws to save the world was always a winner.

The first Ouya dev consoles are set to ship later this month and 10 lucky indie developers have been chosen to receive free Ouya dev kits through a Twitter promotion. Over the past 10 days, Ouya picked a different hopeful Ouya developer each day, the list of which is presented below along with links to more information about each's respective game: Day 1: Fist of Awesome (Nicoll Hunt) Day 2: MechKnight Chronicles (Dinosaur Entertainment) Day 3: Syder Arcade (Studio Evil) Day 4: KidElectro (Seantron) Day 5: Space Runner (Hypercane Studios) Day 6: Legend of Dungeon (RobotLovesKitty) Day 7: iMech Online (Mobula Games) Day 8: DustyRevenge (PD Design Studio) Day 9: HolyShield! (Dogbox Studio) Day 10: Starbound (Chucklefish)This doesn't mean each of these games is a lock for Ouya, we should note. These 10 individuals aren't getting final retail Ouya boxes – those don't ship until March 2013 – but rather free special limited-edition developer versions of Ouya, valued at $800 a pop. And while these initial shipments vary slightly from the retail Ouya units coming next year, we're compelled to note all Ouya consoles will allow for software development.

Nicoll Hunt, a Scottish game developer running a studio called I Fight Bears (which was previously responsible for the Tron-esque Hard Lines for iOS), has opened up a Kickstarter for a new project called Fist of Awesome. It's a retro beat-em-up starring a time-traveling lumberjack named Tim Burr, who fights bison, dinosaurs, and anything else thrown in his way.The game is set to have some interesting touchscreen controls, in that all of Tim's combos come from different swipes and taps. The music will be composed by developer Brendan Ratliff, also known as Echolevel, who's made a few games of his own already.Hunt says the game is set for iOS and Android at first, with other platforms possibly coming later. He's requesting £5,000 – a small price to pay for punching a grizzly bear in the face.
