  • Ford teams with SunPower, offers EV owners $10,000 solar charging system

We might not know how much Ford's expecting for the Focus Electric, but it's already put a hefty $10,000 price tag on one of its accessories. The company announced today that it has teamed with SunPower to offer purchasers of the upcoming Focus Electric and C-MAX Energi a 2.5-kilowatt rooftop solar system. That setup will apparently provide "enough renewable energy production to offset the energy used for charging" cars that log 1,000 miles per month (about 30 miles per day) or less. If $10,000 is just a little too rich for your blood, there's always Best Buy's $1,500 budget-friendly charging station. Full PR after the break.

  • Gyakuten Saiban 4 hates English speakers

Previous Japanese incarnations of our beloved Gyakuten Saiban series, a.k.a. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, a.k.a. the greatest courtroom drama in the history of mankind, have included an English language option for those who wanted to get their fix early. In fact, savvy importers were able to play the superlative Phoenix Wright 2: Justice For All back in October, months before their blissfully ignorant counterparts.Alas, it appears that the next installment of the series, Gyakuten Saiban 4, will not contain an English language option for importers. However, we would like to note that GS4, though the third title in the series to be released on the DS in Japan, is precluded by the currently GBA-only Gyakuten Saiban 3, which has not yet been localized in any form. According to preliminary reports, the storylines of GS3 and GS4 are not directly related (GS4 doesn't even star our man Phoenix), but you never know with those crafty writers. For people not completely obsessed with Phoenix Wright, please rip out your own colon please ignore the above paragraph and simply know that you won't be able to import GS4 from Japan.>.>[Via Siliconera]

A rather excited fan of the site recently sent in an email correspondence with one Alex Ness of Toys For Bob, the developers behind Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam. While this reader could've used the opportunity to pry loose release information for the console or exclusive content in the game, instead his main focus was whether or not the game would support progressive scan and include an option for 16:9 aspect ratio. According to the email, these are to be included:"We're working on supporting progressive scan and widescreen right now and should definitely get it in before we ship."So there you have it, word directly from Alex Ness at Toys For Bob that Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam will support 480p and 16:9. Our readers, they are the best![Thanks enbob89!]

  • Rumor: Phoenix Wright 2 to feature English option in Japan [Update 1]

A vicious rumor has surfaced that the sequel to DS Fanboy's favorite lawyer-em-up Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney is to feature an English language option in the Japanese release. There is, however, some corroboration from Play-Asia, which states this to be true and that the game will release with a budget price. So why is Phoenix Wright: Justice For All having an English language option such a vicious rumor? Because if it turns out to be false, we will literally destroy all life. Or, y'know, wait for the game's release next year. Whichever happens first.[Thanks Andrew Yoon!][Update 1 by Jason Wishnov: the term "viscous", used to describe a fluid with high viscosity, has been changed to the proper term "vicious". David's a little slow, you know, like molasses.]

Leipzig has caused a slow and sure trickle of news and finally we're able to report on some information specific to Need For Speed: Carbon on the Wii. With a trio of surprisingly lovely snapshots and controls similar to that of Excite Truck, we're very excited for this latest installment in the series. Also, the player will be able to slow down their car by pulling the Wiimote toward their body. The presenters noted that the graphics weren't anywhere near what they wanted them to be, concentrating fully on the game's controls at the present time, but we think things aren't looking too shabby as they are.[Via NeoGAF]

One of the requirements for being a part of the DS Fanboy staff is an undying, borderline obsessive, love for Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney. There's just no dancing around it; if you've failed to play it then you're fired. As such, our previously stated love for Phoenix and his immaculate "lawyerin' skillz" causes many of the staff to often wake in the middle of the night, covered in cold sweat, screaming out for our hero.As such, you can imagine we've been pretty excited for the latest installment, not only so that we may defend the innocent from an almost certain doom in the courtroom, but also so that we may scream "hold it" again in public without looking like total basket cases (people just don't get it if you aren't holding a DS). So, like they say, when in Rome do as the Romans do and join us in quietly, and quite disturbingly, fondling our monitors over these new Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Justice For All screenshots.

Some of the first details on the upcoming Need for Speed: Carbon have made their way to your eager eyes, by way of the latest issue of Game Informer magazine. Being billed as half NFS: Underground and half NFS: Most Wanted, the game will feature police chases along with the customization system that existed in the Underground titles. The single-player experience will be new, however, as the player is now charged with taking over territories. Three different maps will have players racing for command over seven different territories within each map.Another new addition to the formula is Canyon Racing. In these races, the track is narrow and you must fight for track with other competitors, racing along huge drop offs that present the danger of a long fall followed by fiery demise. There is also a team-based mode in the works for the game, but no details have been revealed on that as of this time.

  • FYE is taking preorders for the Wii?

Apparently, by way of a forum poster, FYE is already taking preorders for the Wii. Now, if you're one of the people who think that the system will have shortages come launch, then maybe preordering from a store such as FYE is a smart move, however there is the chance that the store will not have your system come launch day. Sure, they'll take your money, but there's no guarantee evident from this poster's experience that the management assured him/her their system would be available on launch day. Also, $50 down? Can anyone confirm if that is the minimum amount needed to put down? Can anyone confirm FYE is even doing this?[Via NeoGAF]

  • New Phoenix Wright 2 screens and info

If there is one thing we here at DS Fanboy want to be known for as we are killed in a hail of gunfire is our undying love for Phoenix Wright. Causing witnesses to crack under pressure on the stand is like the sweetest of luncheon meats to us and the announcement of a sequel hitting US shores actually caused Ludwig to have a full-blown seizure. Me? Well, let's just say I needed a cold shower afterward.More information than you needed to know aside, turns out Phoenix Wright: Justice For All is a remake of the Game Boy Advance game. Where in the first game you found contradictions in witness testimony to see through their thinly-veiled lies, in Justice For All you'll be attempting to break through each witness' 'Psyche Lock,' which is best summed up as a kind of mental barrier guarding the truth. The role of the new prosecutor in Justice For All (well, new for us anyway) is the puffy-shirt-wearing Franziska von Karma. Clearly she did something wrong in her past life for being stuck in a shirt like that in this one. Hssn't she seen Seinfeld?
