  • FaceTime causing some iPad cameras to freeze

According to a thread on Apple's support forum, there may be an issue going around with FaceTime on the iPad that freezes up the iPad 2's front camera. Users are saying that sometimes, when FaceTime loads up, the front camera will freeze on a frame and not send any more video. Fortunately, the fix seems to be simply restarting the iPad, but obviously, there's something weird going on -- the issue often pops up even after a restart. The FaceTime for Mac app was just updated yesterday with a few performance improvements, so there's likely an update pending for iPad as well. Hopefully, whenever that's released, it'll fix whatever issues users have been having. [via 9to5Mac]

A GoNintendo reader was scouring the GameStop product listings and found a couple of interesting, items. Front Mission 1st, previously sort of confirmed for a US release, is marked as releasing on October 2nd.Assassin's Creed, which was spotted on the leaked GameStop release list, now has a listing on the GameStop site, with a September 25th release date and the completely final boxart seen here. As our copy of Superman for the Playstation will attest, the GameStop computer system is completely accurate and infallible, and once something has a listed release date, it's definitely coming out for real.

CenterStage and BackStage make up a dynamic duo which gives FrontRow a run for its money. The free software suite reached version 0.6 today, bringing with it some exciting new features and Intel support. Media management app BackStage got madeover with a new unified UI, while FrontRow-esque component CenterStage now features support for the Apple remote, Elgato eyeTV, and Griffin RadioShark, as well as a new UI for photo browsing. While the programs might not be as polished and feature rich as MediaCentral, the price can't be beat, and new features are being added rapidly. Via HardMac

  • I need some advice for my home theater loft

I have good news folks. I have officially started my home theater loft but still need to make one important pre-construction decision: install a front projector or use a large rear-projection. That is were you come in as I would like to know what you would put in my given room. Here is the issue. The room is only 6.5 feet high at the peak so a projector just does not make sense hanging therefore it would have to be installed on a coffee table. This would push the couch back to at least 10.5 feet. The rear-projection TV would make it a lot easier to install and run wires but would not give us as big as screen. We plan on using it just for movies and high-def so the picture quality is not a problem sitting that close, we want that big screen movie theater experience. Take a look at the pictures and let me know what I should do. I have a construction page up at AVSForum if you want to follow along with the construction. Thanks for the advice guys!
