Above: Front-page Kmart ad A banner ad on KMart's website has reportedly promoted a "new exciting Playstation 3," along with a price cut for old and boring models (see: millions of concurring rumors). The Kmart ad is sure to contribute to the ongoing frenzy of speculation surrounding Sony's upcoming press conference at GamesCom -- well, probably. That's just speculation on our part.In addition, Kotaku claims to have received a promotional poster meant for retailer FYE. It also suggests that the 80GB PlayStation 3 will have its price reduced to $299.99, while the Uncharted 160GB bundle will be trimmed to $399.99. Update: A slightly different promotional ad (seen above) is now up on Kmart's front page. Source - KotakuSource - Kmart[Via Engadget]

  • FYE is taking preorders for the Wii?

Apparently, by way of a forum poster, FYE is already taking preorders for the Wii. Now, if you're one of the people who think that the system will have shortages come launch, then maybe preordering from a store such as FYE is a smart move, however there is the chance that the store will not have your system come launch day. Sure, they'll take your money, but there's no guarantee evident from this poster's experience that the management assured him/her their system would be available on launch day. Also, $50 down? Can anyone confirm if that is the minimum amount needed to put down? Can anyone confirm FYE is even doing this?[Via NeoGAF]

According their latest Sunday circular (helpfully scanned by Xboxic) electronics retailer FYE is letting aging launch titles PGR3, PDZ and Kameo go for the low, low price of $29.99. The offer doesn't appear to be available on their website, so consider it an old-fashioned brick and mortar sale, complete with fine print (no rainchecks, two per customer). Circuit City will likely match the price if you bring in the ad.
