Amazon is launching a new games service titled Game Connect, not to be confused with its GameCircle service for Kindle Fire. Game Connect has been introduced with the express purpose of helping its users "discover a new category of free-to-play and MMO digital games." Existing Amazon users can link their Game Connect account to unlock rewards, a list of which can be found over here. The first handful of games included in Amazon's Game Connect service launch are Battlestar Galactica, World of Tanks, Pandora Saga, Stronghold Kingdoms and Super Monday Night Combat. More games will presumably be added as the service grows and develops.

Expanding its digital games store, Amazon.com has just added a new feature called Games Connect, which offers a selection of free-to-play games to customers and allows players to sign up for the games directly from the Amazon site. Titles such as World of Tanks, Stronghold Kingdoms, and Pandora Saga can now be downloaded through Game Connect. Amazon's offered a bonus for using this new service: When players create game accounts right from the Amazon product page, the account is automatically linked to their Amazon accounts so subscriptions and purchased virtual goods are sent directly to the game without the need of additional codes. Additionally, players who use Game Connects to link their accounts to some of the games will unlock exclusive in-game content. [Source: Amazon.com press release]

Amazon must have a lot of free time for gaming during its summer vacation: just a day after unveiling GameCircle as a cloud infrastructure, it's trotting out Game Connect to make buying game content that much easier. Once it's integrated into a title, the new platform will let customers buy content in free-to-play games, or subscribe to massively multiplayer online games, directly from their Amazon accounts -- no copy-and-paste juggling involved, even if the game account has to be made on the spot. A handful of game developers have already lined up, including Super Monday Night Combat creator Uber Entertainment and World of Tanks' Wargaming.net. If you're engrossed in gaming enough that you'll need 1-Click to buy virtual goods and MMO renewals that much faster, Amazon has you covered... although you may also want to slow down and relax.
