So, you've got a shiny new Xbox 360 and you're all set up to play except for one thing: your Gamer Picture. It's an important step in creating your online identity after all. Heck, even veterans like to change things up once in a while. So, if you find yourself still saddled with stupid green circles or that weird Darth Vader skull thing, we've got just the solution for you. Introducing the Gamerpic Scout from MyGamerCard.net. More or less, the Scout is simply a Gamerpic search engine. Just enter a word -- "zombie" for example -- and you'll be directed to all the Gamerpics associated with that word (you can also search for pics by Gamertag). Click on one of the icons that pops up -- let's say Master Chief from Halo 3 -- and it will tell you how much it costs and whether or not it's still available. One of the more interesting features is that the engine keeps track of both the most and least popular Gamerpics. You'd be surprised how many Gamerpics aren't being used by anyone at all (mostly sports related ones). If it's time for a change, or if you're new to the scene, head over to MyGamerCard.net and check it out.[Via Evil Avatar]

While cruising through your friends list on Xbox.com have you ever wondered where some of those gamer pictures come from? Well, we have, and thanks to Major Nelson's input and the tech guys who run Xbox.com they implemented a cool little feature. Now, if you hover your cursor over any gamer picture it'll give you a little more information to what game or picture pack it comes from. This feature is now fully supported by numerous browsers including IE, Firefox, and Opera. Just look for the alt tag to expand with the text or check your status bar for the gamer picture information. True, it's nothing huge, but is one of those nifty little feature that's cool to have and know about. Thanks Xbox.com team, you guys (and gals) are number one in our book.

In love with competitive figure skating and just can't wait for the Olympics? Well, we didn't think so, but Will Ferrell's new comedy Blades of Glory is about figure skating and looks quite funny. And on the XBLM you can download a free movie theme and a set of gamer pictures. The theme is pretty okay, as the guide isn't the plain jane light gray we usually see. And we'll just say the gamer pictures are "goodish", if goodish is a word. Did we mention we enjoy free themes and gamer pictures? For some reason if the content is free we couldn't care less it was advertising shaving cream or the Smucker's jam ... we just love our free content. Anyway, time to download, you know what to do.

  • "Halo 6" now playing on Xbox.com

Reader Delerious brings this interesting phenomenom to our attention. Go to "My Xbox" tab on Xbox.com An interactive window with a bunch of gamerpics will show up. Click on any one of them, except for the middle one, to bring up a point-and-read tutorial of XBL basics. Notice that each one says "Playing Halo 6, Death Island, 2 minutes left." Is this somone's idea of Halo humor? Don't they know that the mere mention of the world Halo followed by a number could launch a thousand phony ilovebees knock-offs.
