If you're attached to your Xbox 360 gamerpic but hate how that it looks small and ridiculous on modern consoles, don't change it for a newer one just yet.

Xbox Live keeps adding and updating features in response to its multiplayer community. Last year, the service added support for "clubs" along with improved friend-finding options. According to Xbox Live's Major Nelson, Live users will get a host of new tweaks today as Microsoft's gaming division adds quite a few new features to its console and mobile apps, including custom Gamerpics, the ability to stream your games with up to three friends and a way to tie a single controller to your login to make it easier to sign in and play. The Xbox mobile apps get a few additions as well, including new ways to look for groups and to browse the titles in your Game Pass subscription, and users can now create their own Killer Instinct tournaments.

Microsoft has provided a snapshot of the completely unofficial president election poll it's been running in conjunction with Rock the Vote. The idea was to offer Gamerpics representing Obama-Biden, McCain-Palin, Independent, and, er, "Other" (hopefully) sparking an interest in actual voting by offering the choice to select one as your public and/or private icon. MS says more than 100,000 Live users have participated to date.Today's tally has Obama-Biden in a 12% lead over their Republican rivals, garnering 43% of the vote to McCain-Palin's 31%. Independents and "Others" combined account for the remaining (and sizable) 26% of "votes." Listen, "Others" – if you're undecided, you'd best at least register and cast your vote on November 4. We don't care who it's for; just vote, 'kay? Thanks![Image credit: Jeff the Trojan]

Don't you just wish there was an easy way to identify Democrats and Republicans that didn't require DNA testing? Well, now there is! Hitting Xbox Live a few nights ago were a pair of free gamerpics that showcased the logos of both Presidential candidates in the Xbox Live Rock the Vote promotional menu. Now you can showoff your favorite candidate in between your daily grind of Team Slayer. Promoting the importance of selecting the next President of the United States, Rock the Vote allows gamers to register, download awesome music videos and anti-gaming politicians even promise to stop calling all gamers potential ticking time bombs! We'll let you decide which part was a joke. You're right, those videos are probably crap.

  • New gamerpics are a teabag full of insipidness

We realize that a lot of crap gets dumped on Xbox Live Marketplace that we don't comment on. We used to notice it more, but mocking it is almost sort of futile now. But when someone sends along a tip to alert us that they've just sullied the Marketplace, we feel compelled to comment on it. So, here it goes. As seen above, Disruptive Media Publishers has just unleashed the "Hardcore Gamer Picture Pack," a name so ironic that Alanis Morissette just beat herself to death with a shoe.If you pony up the $1.25 for the Hardcore Game Picture Pack, we're officially not friends. We would honestly prefer you to get your Xbox Live Vision camera, and take a picture of your crotch and make it your gamerpic. If you burned a combination orphanage/puppy mill to the ground and dragged a generator to the scene so you could (using the Shroud of Turin as lens filter) take a picture of the flames with your Xbox Live Vision camera and made that your pic, we would be less offended.OK, we wanted to end on that line, but we had to mention the "Respawn" one. What does that even mean? That you're happy the game continues after you've been killed? Yes! We are too!

You heard right. Just in time to celebrate Independence Day in the good ol' US of A, we can now download the gorgeous Fallout 3 trailer on the Xbox Live Marketplace -- in 720p glory mind you -- and admire what a post-nuclear apocalypse Washington, D.C. might look like. A little too unpatriotic for the 4th of July? Then why not just download a pack of Fallout 3 gamer pics going for 100 Microsoft Points (about $1.25) featuring Vault Boy (of course) and a Brotherhood of Steel image. Want something a little bigger? Try a Fallout 3 theme for 150 points (about $1.87) featuring the gorgeous concept art we've been seeing for months. Or don't. Exercise your freedom to choose.%Gallery-3507%

AXE is up to their male-centric marketing antics again offering a free theme and a few gamer pictures of those Bom Chicka Wah Wah girls. Not familiar? Well, the Bom Chicka Wah Wahs are a musical group of scantily glad women who sing the Bom Chicka Wah Wah song to market AXE (Lynx for our European friends). Actually, it's kind of hard to explain. What we can do is show you our favorite AXE Bom Chicka Wah Wah commercial kindly embedded after the break. Yeah ... kinda interesting isn't it?And now that we think about it, it's kind of odd that a theme like this could be approved for download when a theme like the Queenz got canned for being too mature. Maybe a multimillion dollar company backing the content has something to do with it.
