Sony-published Dare to Fly outed by Australian Classification Board
A recent ratings submission from the Australian Classification Board has revealed Dare to Fly, a previously unannounced console game that will apparently be published by Sony Computer Entertainment. The classification points to console and mobile developer GameShastra as the game's creator. Though Dare to Fly does not appear on the company's website, GameShastra has released a handful of PlayStation 2 and PSP games in the past, and cites testimonials from Sony employees, indicating an existing relationship. Interestingly, as PlayStation Lifestyle points out, Dare to Fly's unlockable trophy set has already been leaked, classifying the game as a downloadable title for the PlayStation 3. We've contacted GameShastra for clarification regarding Dare to Fly's upcoming release.
Celebrity pool, snooker and darts ported to Minis platform
PSP owners can expect a lot of new sports games this year, including Steve Davis Pool, Ronnie O'Sullivan Snooker and Phil Taylor Darts. Developer GameShastra announced a partnership with PI Sports to adapt their mobile games -- including titles based around pool, cricket, rugby, snooker, golf, tennis, darts, fishing and poker -- for the Minis platform on PlayStation Network. All in all, "over 10" games will appear on the PlayStation Store this year. In addition, GameShastra is promising visual improvements and enhanced controls over the original smartphone versions. "With some of the biggest names in sport attached to the biggest names in mobile gaming, this agreement is brilliant news for all PSP owners," GameShastra's CEO said in a press release. Considering how few new releases are announced for Sony's handheld, the addition of more than ten titles to the service certainly does sound appealing.
Etch A Sketch will sketch its way onto the XBLA
In what has to be arguably one of the oddest XBLA game ideas to ever come to fruition, Indian developer Game Shastra announced that they will be working on an XBLA version of ... Etch A Sketch. Yup, Etch A Sketch. It's the same red bordered, white knobbed, shaky-shake artistic device you played with as a kid, but now on your TV and coming to the Arcade. We aren't sure when or how Etch A Sketch will land on the Arcade, but we're almost certain that the game will not require shaking your HD television back and forth to erase the screen. Because that "feature" would so result in HD TV pieces scattered all over the floor.
