Fresh-faced development studio Eidos Montreal is currently hard at work on its inaugural project, Deus Ex 3, but that doesn't mean it's incapable of multitasking -- according to an ad in the upcoming issue of Edge Magazine, the studio is set to reveal its second project on May 11, which just happens to be the day before GDC Canada kicks off. The project's identity is difficult to ... well, it's unclear -- yeah, it's Thief. It's going to be a Thief game, guys. The ad does more than hint at the identity of the title -- it references accolades from GameSpy and GameSpot which have been laid upon the Thief franchise, and even seems to feature the Thief logo, somewhat obfuscated by a sticker mentioning the May 11 reveal. Unless we're being fleeced with unprecedented gusto, you can expect to hear more about Eidos Montreal's kleptomaniacal second project in exactly one week.[Via VG247]

With jetlag only just starting to subside from attending the recent Game Developers Conference, plans are already in place for the annual gathering's sister event in Canada. Taking place next month, the show will feature a keynote address by BioWare co-founders Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk speaking on what the pair describe as gaming's "new frontier."The keynote, titled "Emotionally Engaging Narrative: Gaming's New Frontier," will likely build on comments made in April regarding the impassioned Mass Effect sequel, which according to BioWare won't "shy away from emotionally engaging moments." The event will also feature a keynote by Microsoft's Don Mattrick, as well as speakers from EA's Black Box and Maxis studios, both of which have been looking noticeably thinner of late. GDC Canada is scheduled to take over the Vancouver Convention & Exhibition Centre from May 12-13, leaving us a little time to find a way out of these tauntaun husks and brave the chilly north.

Don Mattrick, head of Microsoft's Entertainment and Devices division, and Victor Lucas, creator and co-host of The Electric Playground will give a keynote address at GDC Canada this year. The keynote is entitled "The Evolution of the Canadian Game Industry: A Conversation with Don Mattrick" and will cover "the dynamic changes and growing influence of Canadian game development." As the title implies, Lucas will interview Mattrick on the topic of Canada's game industry.Just a heads up, we're already working on a screenplay for Lucas/Mattrick, so don't go stealing it. Interview movies are hot right now.
