Buy an iPhone 11 at Target this Black Friday (thru Sunday), and the retailer will throw in a $200 gift card. The deal also applies to the iPhone 11 Pro, 11 Pro Max, XS and XS Max, activated on Verizon (Engadget's parent company) or AT&T. That's a solid deal on the newest iPhones, as well as last year's XS and XS Max models. Plus, the $200 could give the rest of your holiday shopping a nice boost.

  • Walmart's used games for gift cards trade-in program opens March 26th (video)

After many rumors and even a brief trial program, Walmart is finally following Best Buy, Amazon and, of course, GameStop in taking trade-ins of used games. It will start accepting your old games on March 26th, in exchange for store credit usable at Walmart and Sam's Club, whether in-store or online. Once it has the games they'll be refurbished and then this summer, go on sale for "a great low price." It's all very familiar if you've ever traded a game in before, but Walmart says it will "pay more for used games, sell new and used games for less, and give our customers the flexibility to spend their money how they want." Your move, GameStop.

Those looking for a little extra dough for the holidays or for their new PS4 or Xbox One systems may consider trading in their current-gen consoles. Best Buy has those folks in mind this week, as it is offering a minimum $100 gift card for all working Xbox 360 and PS3 systems. The deal is good through participating Best Buy locations until Saturday, November 23. While the condition of the system and added accessories will affect the value Best Buy places on the used goods, any console with a broken factory seal, is cracked or has water damage will not be eligible for trade-in. We told you to not bring your Xbox 360 down the water slide.

A number of retailers are offering Xbox 360 bundles for $50 off. Among those participating in the deal are GameStop and Walmart, while picking up a new Xbox 360 from Target, Best Buy or Amazon will net you an additional $50 gift card on top of saving $50 on select bundles. The $200 Kinect-less 4 GB Xbox 360 is not included in the deal, but the Nike+ Kinect Training bundle is, along with other packages that include games such as Darksiders 2 and Batman: Arkham City. The sale is for a limited time, though no end date is listed at any of the retailers.

Newegg is running a promotion right now offering a $10 gift card alongside the purchase of a PS4 DualShock 4 controller, or an Xbox One controller. The DualShock 4 listing promises a ship date of November 15, in line with the PS4 launch date; the Xbox One controller doesn't look like it'll ship until November 30, however, after the November 22 launch date for the Xbox One. Shipping will cost extra, as well. The DualShock 4, the latest iteration in Sony's line of controllers, features a two-point touchpad, built-in light bar and speaker, and six-axis motion-sensing controls. The Xbox One controller improves upon the popular Xbox 360 standard with a new d-pad, rumble motors located within the trigger buttons and an infrared beacon that plays nice with the new version of Kinect.

  • Redeem iTunes gift cards with iTunes 11 and your Mac's camera

One of the coolest iTunes 11 features has got to be the new redemption system. It allows you to scan gift codes using your Mac's camera system. As the screen shot above shows, all you have to do is hold up your iTunes barcode and let your camera do the work. No more laborious typing of barcode-supported gift cards is needed any more. Click Use Camera and then use the interactive camera feed to hold up and scan your card. You can only redeem cards that have a box around the code letters, as you see in the screenshot above. Here is Steve Sande redeeming himself. He isn't actually a gift card, but he pretends to be one on alternative Sundays. TUAW first noticed Mountain Lion's Core Recognition framework early this year and suggested that it might be used for this kind of redemption through the "CRCodeRedeemer" class. We're gratified to learn we were right on the money. Mike Rose pointed out in his original write-up that there's even more this tech could be capable of. As he wrote back in Feburary, "This technology would be even more interesting if Apple's 2011 patent application for 'digital handshakes' ever sees daylight. With barcodes or data embeds printed on your devices with invisible ink, you could log into your Mac just by waving your iPhone at it -- which would require that your Mac have some barcode-reading savvy."

  • Passbook-enabled gift cards now available via Apple Store app

We knew it was coming and yesterday's Apple Store app update made it a reality: You can now use Passbook-enabled virtual gift cards to pay for items at Apple retail outlets. The refreshed app has added the ability for customers to purchase gift card codes which are sent via email. The codes can then be added to your Passbook wallet and used to complete purchases in-store. So, say, for example, you forgot your wallet and/or purse on your way out the door to the Apple Store. Don't worry, because you can use your Apple device to bring up the virtual Apple Store, and purchase a virtual Apple gift card. Then, you can use your virtual Passbook on your physical Apple device to pay for another physical Apple product inside the physical Apple Store. Isn't the future great?

With Apple having recently introduced its novel Passbook feature in the latest version of iOS, it's only natural for app makers to try and take advantage of such miscellaneous hub. With that in mind, Gyft -- a 2012 TechCrunch Disrupt finalist -- has made its application fully compatible with Cupertino's newfangled iOS 6, adding support for the iPhone 5's 4-inch screen and, most importantly, the ability to add gift cards from many retailers to Passbook; some of which include Amazon, Target, Lowe's, GAP, American Eagle and Starbucks. You can grab the Gyft (v1.2) application now directly from your iDevice, or there's always the link below if that makes it slightly easier for you.

During Motorola's keynote on Wednesday, the company announced a nice little bonus for loyal fans -- should your 2011-or-later handset not receive a Jelly Bean update, you'll get $100 if you upgrade to one of its new models. Well, a website for the deal has gone live and the initial Ts&Cs don't make it sound like an immediate discount, but that the Benjamin will instead be reimbursed as a gift card, carrier credit or a cash equivalent of Motorola's choice. We're still in the dark about which specific phones will be denied a taste of Android 4.1, although the list is expected "very soon." In the meantime, you can sign up at the source link below to receive details of how to update, or how to claim the rebate once the fate of your old handset has been decided.

If any of you tuning in from the US have ever wondered why you can't buy a Spotify gift card for the internet radio lover in your life, well, you can quit pondering: Target is now selling Spotify credits in its brick-and-mortar stores -- a first in the US. The cards are available in $10, $30 and $60 amounts, which translates to one, three and six months of service, respectively. As you can imagine, you need a Spotify Premium account to redeem them, so make sure whoever you're buying for has a subscription or at least intends to sign up. Still, we have to say: a month of ad-free radio and offline playback could make for a nice last-minute gift, even if the lucky recipient chooses not to hang around after the included free days expire.

We've seen hints of them in the Google Play app and some pretty clear evidence of them in the wild, and now Google has finally officially announced the availability of Google Play gift cards. Those are available in $10, $25 and $50 denominations, and will be rolling out to Target, RadioShack and GameStop retail stores in the United States over the next few weeks (no word on availability outside the US just yet). According to Google, they'll also be available on Walmart.com later this month, but not in Walmart stores for the time being. As you'd expect, the cards can be used to purchase anything on Google Play, including movies, music and books in addition to apps (or in-app items). [Thanks to everyone who sent this in]

Remember that Google Play gift card support we told you about just this morning? Well now things got real. Literally. The pic above shows one of the shrink-wrapped critters in a $25 denomination. Android Central claims they were sent a few different pictures, showing $10 varieties also -- and as we can see from the box -- they're good for music, movies, books, apps and (mysteriously) "more." So if you're after that hot new game, now's about the time to start dropping hints to your nearest and dearest.

  • Updated Google Play app reveals gift card support, wish list coming soon?

If the images and link settings Android Police has dug up from the most recent (v3.8.15) Google Play APK that's rolling out are correct, we could see a coupe more features coming to the Android app and media store soon. First up are very fleshed out menus for the redemption of Play Store gift cards, perfect for users that aren't enthused about putting their credit card info out there and would rather purchase a few bucks prepaid and then spend them as they will. Also contained within the APK but not activated or accessible by default is some sort of wish list functionality. Hit the source link for all the images and screens that have been found so far, well have to wait and see when these pop up in a future updated or get activated later on. [Thanks, Cullen]
