Guerilla outlines Killzone Mercenary updates, two free maps next year
The PlayStation 4 and Killzone Shadow Fall may be out in the wild, but Guerrilla Games still has plans for several updates to Vita entry Killzone Mercenary. The European studio detailed four patches headed for the handheld shooter, including one that'll add two free multiplayer maps early in 2014. That's Update 5, and that patch will also add the offline Botzone mode that's appeared in other Killzone games. Updates 3 and 4 are due before it, the first in the next few weeks and the second some time in January. Update 3 will free up 800MB of precious Vita space by reducing the sizes of prior patches, while Update 4 will tweak matchmaking and automatic team re-balancing. Rounding things off is Update 6, which is due in the "early months of 2014," and offers the chief addition of Vita TV support.

Sony unveiled two new trailers for Killzone: Shadow Fall today, one of which shows how the game looks with and without its PS4-powered effects. The game launched this week before the PS4 hits shelves on November 15.

A $20 season pass for Killzone: Shadow Fall was announced by Sony today. The pass grants access to six DLC packs as they become available after the game's launch. The DLC included in the season pass are three online co-op map packs, one online co-op expansion and two other multiplayer expansion packs. The three co-op map packs include two arena maps per piece of DLC. Killzone: Shadow Fall, the latest entry in Guerilla Games' gritty shooter series, will launch alongside the PlayStation 4 on November 15.

Killzone: Mercenary enlists on Vita Sep. 17 in NA, Sep. 18 EU
Killzone: Mercenary is contracted to take out North America on September 17, and Europe on September 18. The sci-fi shooter series' first Vita entry gets a new trailer as payment, along with some screens to sweeten the deal.Mercenary's single-player campaign includes nine missions, each nearly an hour long according to Guerilla Games producer Poria Torkan, while its multiplayer features six maps for up to eight players, with three different modes to choose from. %Gallery-177727%
Original Killzone shoots up PSN on January 24
If the PlayStation 3 marked your introduction to the Killzone series, it looks like you'll finally get a shot at trying the original. After spotting a listing for the first Killzone on the ESRB, Game Informer has confirmed with Sony that the 2004 Helghast extermination simulator is indeed headed to PSN. The title will be a port of the original PlayStation 2 Killzone, so we wouldn't expect any extra bells or whistles. Killzone will hit PSN on January 24 for $10.
